Buftex
Other than the obvious (OJ)I would have to go with Dennis Shaw (my avatar) or Bob Chandler. My Bills memories don't start until the 1972 season. Edited November 23, 2020 by Buftex

ExWNYer
I was a kid in the 1970s so those Bills players hold a special place in my heart even though they only made the playoffs once, in 1974. The 1973 squad...the one where O.J.Simpson ran for 2,003 yards...was my favorite. I can't pick just one player. Among my favorites were O.J., Bob Chandler, J.D. Hill, Joe Ferguson, Joe DeLamielleure, Reggie McKenzie, and Robert James.

Honestly, unless you are old enough to know the 60's teams (I am not, born in 1965), I am not sure how a 70's Bills fan could name anyone but OJ...but that would make for a boring thread...

slipkid
I would like to go with OJ, but you know . . . I loved JD Hill and Bobbly “toe tap” Chandler. And I always rooted for Tony Greene. Dad would say, “He’s too short,” but irc, he led the NFL in interceptions in 1977 or 78.

He was definitely one of my favorites. I was livid when his 100+ (105?) yard pick-6 was called back on a bogus penalty during a game in the Orange Bowl against Miami. That cost the Bills the game and there never would have been an '0 for the '70s' had it stood.
Paul Costa
JD Hill was my favorite player as a kid. I use a Paul Costa username because he’s from the town in which I teach. Sounds like he was a wonderful human being and great Buffalo Bill. Slightly before my time 💪

The best pulling guard in the league at the time (imho, a bit better than than Reggie) and a great advocate for former players thereafter. The concussion protocol can largely be traced back to Joe D.’s work.
I'm Spartacus
Veering slightly off topic on players, but a big shout out to the original trainer Abe Abronowski! Redneck
My dad was a prof a Niagara when the Bills held training camp there. I was able to get into a few buildings that most could not. One summer, I met JoeD and we chatted about the Hardy Boy's book I was reading. The next summer, he remembered me. Just based on that, he would be mine. Then OJ for obvious reasons. I was standing by the snow fence with my younger brother waiting for the players to come over after practice and sign autographs. I really wanted O.J.'s. and he walked up with Reggie McKenzie and signed my paper. I remember that they were laughing as they approached...Reggie must have said something that O.J. found funny because I remember hearing O.J. say, "Legit!" right before he got to the fence and gave us his autograph. That 43 year old memory is etched in my mind like it was yesterday.

But even before NU, they held practice at the Treadway Inn (?) In Hamburg off the I90. It was there that I got Jack Kemp's autograph in the mid 60s.

I went to several training camps at Fredonia State. My grandmother lived a few miles from campus down Brigham Road in Dunkirk. My sis and her bestie got a pic with Doug Flutie at the last camp there in 1999. The girls are both 5' 4" and swear they looked taller than he did. 😆 I have yet to make it to a training camp at St. John Fisher but hope to do so one day.
