DiMarco, Perry, Julian Stanford, etc. offer zip to their respective sides of the ball, but will be active. Look, I get it, someone has to play ST, but it’s more important to me that we give Josh every available weapon to score points (e.g., Duke, Yeldon, Sweeney). I'd rather keep Roberts active for that reason. Last thing we need is a muffed punt. Activate Duke AND Yeldon by deactivating Foster and Gore. But I doubt they'd do that to Gore. When you think “return specialist” you think of generational talents? Hester is one of the top returners of all time, ever. Meanwhile Isaiah left 6 yards on average(he returned 21 avg compared to 27 avg for Roberts) and Roberts was taking them out of the endzone to net "28" yards when leaving it in the endzone would have gave us 25. You need to play full effort vs Watt even when he is injured and defenses try to wear offense lines down and this will help keep both fresh. In addition it will be useful at times to have a 6th lineman of field and Ford is great at run blocking and Nsekhe is better at containing a speed rusher on those plays. If he is healthy I’m not entirely sure Duke is a better start. The Texans lack speed in the secondary and Foster could be a key in exploiting that. Also, game is in a dome and on turf. I fully expect that ghost motion will be a big part of their offensive game plan. Expect a few misdirection plays from it--an Allen sweep, a dump off to Knox/Kroft, a naked wheel route for a deep shot, etc. If he's not in the game, you don't get the buy in from the defense's film study. He did it vs. the Jets at it cost them 12 yards. Those are twelve yards that don't show up on a stat sheet. If it doesn't show up in the stats I guess it’s not important. Roberts is vastly superior the McKenzie as a returner. Sloppy ST would kill a team who relies on defense to win. Not sure why many fans don't realize the importance of that phase of the game.
