Gugny
I've never had liver. With or without onions. I've smelled it. That's why I've never eaten it. I think I looks gross and smells gross and it is highly doubtful that I'll ever try it. Maybe chicken fried. I might try that. Nah. I'll never know. Do you like liver? SlimShady'sSpaceForce
Man .... how to answer that poll I've eaten it before when I was a kid because of low iron count. but it had to be cooked just right. Liver and Onion's in a brown gravy As an adult I've had it twice in the last 20 years Now my iron count is so high I can do the double dip at blood donation drives LOL Edited August 29, 2019 by ShadyBillsFan
WhoTom
The liver is the body's filter. Eating liver is about as appetizing as eating a cigarette butt.

Mike in Horseheads
Not a constant menu item but if cooked right its awesome with mashed spuds! Its also not the best for your cholesterol so my mom and dad would go to a local restaurant only occasionally so dad could have .
flaz
No way do you put gravy on any liver. If the beef or calves liver is sauteed in butter to medium rare and served with caramelized onions, there is no stink and it melts in the mouth. A nice salad and a baked spud rounds out the meal. Heaven on earth for Mrs. flaz and me
Gray Beard
Don’t know how to vote. I used to eat it back when it was considered healthy. Now it’s considered to be unhealthy. I never really liked it, so I see know reason to eat something that I don’t really like and is considered to be unhealthy.
flaz
Thirsty's here in the Cape has a female chef that makes it just right. I told her, last night, that she makes it almost as Mrs. flaz did. Unfortunately she hasn't cooked in 3 years The biggest issue with liver is overcooking. It becomes shoe leather past medium rare or medium. Well done you can drive a nail with
Johnny Hammersticks
I love liver. Delicious. Especially when it’s made into pate or fois gras. When I was a kid my father insisted that we have fried beef liver and onions once per week for dinner. Hated it then.

RaoulDuke79
It's not something that I'd order at a restaurant, but my mom made liver and onions frequently growing up and I thought it was pretty good. Not great, but good. I'd say I like it. Definitely a unique taste.
BringBackFergy
Generic liver and onions is one thing. Calves liver patted with flour and bread crumbs, sautéed in olive oil, with onions and crispy bacon....very tasty.

If I didn't feel like I couldn't refuse without insulting them, that's the only way I'd even attempt it. I will say my tastes have expanded a bit (hell, I wish I loved everything like my father), but I've also become more experienced in how to let people know I would rather not have something I know (OK strongly believe)I will not like. I figure it's better than having me puke all over their table. Edit: I should clear up, I mean most of the times (after the first couple) were because I didn't feel comfortable not trying it, given the circumstances. A couple times it was GF related, but not all. Also, sometimes you know someone is a great cook, so you give them the benefit of the doubt. Liver? No more. Sweet Potatoes/Squash? No more. ? Keukasmallies
I do like liver with either onions or bacon. However, my family demands that I never order liver when we're at a restaurant. My all-time liver story came when I was in the Navy back in the late 60's. When liver was on the "menu" you were given a slab of liver that almost covered the entire aluminum chow tray. Not a pretty (nor appetizing) sight.

An ex girlfriend's father used to make it from scratch. I don't think I ever had to try it---at least I have no recollection. But to get into her parents' good graces I would have done most anything. So it's possible. Maybe I just blocked it out. How ya doin' NG?
