Bills ranked 23rd:

"The Bills start in humble territory in our power rankings, but keep an eye on the upstarts out of Western New York. Coach Sean McDermott has a roster that could surprise, and the Bills could be downright frisky if Josh Allen develops in Year 2. The 2018 first-round pick was sharp on Friday against the Panthers, leading the Bills to 10 points in two possessions. Fantasy owners: Keep an eye out on wide receiver Cole Beasley, who has developed a quick rapport with Allen. He has six catches for 72 yards on six targets through two preseason tilts. Former English rugby player Christian Wade continued his long-shot bid to crack the Bills roster, taking a swing pass from Tyree Jackson and rumbling nearly 50 yards to the goal line. That'll do mate."

I actually think this ranking is pretty good, with one major problem: The Ravens are too high at 12.

Its what you would expect for the Bills. They haven’t proved anything yet.

No complaints from me. That's where I would expect us to be.

Most power rankings are heavily weighted on past performance and reputation unless, for a specific team there are compelling reasons to weight something else more heavily.  We all have been watching Josh Allen and his improved performance with relish, along with the improved support around him, but that doesn't mean to much to national observers . . . yet.  Baltimore is rated higher because John Harbaugh led teams have more history of success over the past number of years than Buffalo.

2-0 in preseason. It's a PRESEASON power ranking!

I guess I assumed it was rankings expected in the regular season. Or is this just for the preseason and the champion wins the preseason trophy? Is it a paper Lombardi trophy or something?

No, it is for regular season expectations.

Then why is is called  PRESEASON POWER RANKING???

It’s where they rank the teams as of today (middle of the preseason). It is a check on how they are progressing. As an example, if a QB went down for the season that team would be expected to perform worse.

So it's just a power ranking then?

Shenanigans on the Falcons that high.  Everyone has figured out Dan Quinn.  That guy has never recovered from the Super Bowl defeat and it's been downhill ever since.  It won't surprise me to see that team crater hard this year.

Because it was released during the preseason. After week 1 it will be updated to "Week 1 Power Rankings".

I do!! Bills are 2-0 against 2 undefeated teams this year. The Lions have been thoroughly beaten so the only test left is against the Vikings who have beaten 2 stong clubs in the Saints and the Seahawks. I believe Barkley is a strong QB and with Jackson developing well behind his leadership I think the Bills will go all the way and win all 4 preseason games and be the top preseason team!!!

23 is much too low imo.

So here are the team rankings of the games on our schedule, in order from toughest to weakest:

1, 1, 6, 8, 9, 12, 16, 19, 21, 22, 22, 27, 28, 30, 32, 32

Hmm. That's interesting. 10 teams at middle or below, 6 teams above. Maybe we'll go 10-6.

I've never gotten all the love the Jets have received this preseason. We're better than they are and alot of praise has been thrust upon them. I mean what the hell have they done?

They have a rough schedule to open up the season. If they lose to us in Week 1 then they could be 0-7 to start out.

Much better title IMHO.

The Jets are on Monday night two times in the first seven weeks?

I still don’t buy that the Patriots are the best team in the NFL.  Our long nightmare has to end sometime!

They're the defending champs and went to three straight SB's winning two of them.  They still have Brady and Belichick.  The signing of Michael Bennett and Mike Pinell should help ease the loss of Trey Flowers.  They have a deep secondary.  Gronk is irreplaceable but they upgraded their WR core with D. Thomas and the drafting of N. Harry.  Plus, Josh Gordon is always a possibility to give them six all pro weeks before he relapses.  There's no reason to think they won't cruise to a division title unless Brady's arm really deteriorates .

That's nuts.  I get they're a big market and are viewed as a team on the rise.....but no team should have two MNF home games.
