MJS
I guess I'll go Trent Murphy. There was a lot of excitement last season when he was signed. Now everyone is down in him because of his injury plagued year. I think he'll get back to form and be a quality pass rusher.

He had less than 40 yards 10 times last year as a full time starter while an undrafted rookie managed three 100 yard games over the last 7 games of the season...Zay still has zero over 2 years as a starter. I’m rooting for him, but the reality is his season was as a whole was weak. Over the last 4 games of the season he was atrocious in 3 of the games. He was dominated and shut down in Jets, Lions and Pats until he finally had a good game in week 17 against Miami, a bad team who barely showed for the final game. Stat sheet warriors will quickly scoff at the NE game being labeled terrible because he got a late meaningless TD on final play of game of a blow out loss. But he had zero catches until the final 6 min of the game when NE had gone up several scores and out game out of reach. He was dominated that game until they started switching out the D to run the clock down and got some easy stuff to end the terrible game. I am really hoping he busts out this year and will cheer him on, but last season was very underwhelming. I’m glad he put muscle on this year because it was hard watching him struggle so badly with physical corners last year and press coverage. Now he needs to translate that to the field and prove he should start over Brown or Foster (which I am not convinced he will until I see consistent improvement). I like his hitting but even special teams guys need to know what angle to take to the runner. I think he makes the team because all the backup linebackers suck and they will keep one less WR and only two QBs which opens an extra LB and DB spot. 10 minutes ago, purple haze said: LeSean McCoy. I don't know, I just wouldn't look at it as bad as if it were a 1st or 2nd round pick that didn't pan out, or even a 3rd round pick. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't consider a 5th round pick a "bust" if the guy doesn't do well in a short period of time, He may turn out to be average, who knows. We will see how it all plays out soon enough though. Edited July 24, 2019 by Patrick_Duffy

MiltonWaddams
Dawson Knox . Despite being our expected TE1, I think he shows more than one would expect from his draft position and quickly becomes a great safety net for Allen. May not qualify as a surprise though....

I like the 2 you chose and also David Sills at the skill positions to potentially turn some heads in camp. I said on draft night I think Singletary is going to be a hard guy to keep on the bench and feel he will shock some people with how elusive and powerful he is as a RB. Another guy I think will surprise some people is Trent Murphy. He’s got a lot of doubters and haters around here, but now that he’s finally fully back from injury and confident in his body again, I think he’s going to really shine with all the talent in that front 7. Another guy I like to surprise on D is Kevin Johnson. I think he is another guy whose got the injuries behind him and will be someone turning heads in camp. And the shout out out for the Vets...I think Ty is going to surprise a lot of people and win a starting job in the new OL and Dawkins or Ford may slide inside or he could even push Ford to the bench to bring along slower. End of the day, they want to protect Allen to the fullest, and I think there is a good chance the rookie will start the season as a reserve and groomed before being handed a starting spot. We got a lot of quality vets on this team now, so there is no pressure to rush him into starting. Yes, as with Singletary and Williams, if players like Murphy (and Johnson, though less vital here as the secondary looks solid) rise to their potential, and a player like Ty, then the Bills will be an excellent team. The good thing this year is it seems likely that several of these players will come through--and move the Bills to the next level. And it is different this year than in others, as the base of the team is much more solid than it has been in a long time, so these players can then be the key to a great year..

Surprised that his name has not come up before this. More of a 'hope' it happens for me this year, but if he played well, and then Kroft comes back strong, then an extremely weak area of last year's team becomes a strength. Would move this offense to another level. Edited July 24, 2019 by Mister Defense

I can't believe I didn't even think of Lawson until I read your post as he was a much improved last year and made some big plays. I think the Bills will regret declining his 5th year contract option this summer. THAT would be huge if Lawson excels now.
