Did Vontae Davis retire at halftime? Yes, yes he did!

Maybe I am getting old, but I just don't remember that.  If you say it happened, I am sure it did, but I just don't remember.

Brown gave up and stopped giving effort, and "was excused" from the last game of the season for "personal reasons," and released after the season.

I understand Rico's anger at it.  But it's not the same thing as retiring in the middle of a game.

Does anyone recall this happening with other NFL teams? The quitting/retiring in the middle of an actual game that (ostensibly) counts? I'm pretty sure it's happened in the NBA, but right now I can't remember who/when.

BTW, good info on arbitration/recovery of cap money, etc. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

Only one I recall was legarrette Blount walking off the field when he played for the Steelers. He didn’t quit the team but he quit the game. Tomlin cut him the next day and then he re-signed with the pats

Ahh, thanks. I do remember that. There's a lot of documented cases of guys refusing to go into a game (in a blowout, etc.), but I'm still coming up empty on a guy actually retiring mid-game.

But I did say retire within a few weeks.

I got nothing to prove to you.  What's your point anyway?  Just trying to be a jerk or nothing else better to do?

He told me before the Ravens game that Davis was going to retire

Saying you think he's going to retire is not the same as "he's going to walk out and quit DURING THE NEXT GAME AT HALFTIME"

that's all I'm saying.

saying "i told ya this a week ago" is saying that you told him he was going to retire during the game.

not really the same thing.

trying to act like "OH I CALLED IT SEE!!"

that's my point.

Y'know...I can predict you're going to stand and fight on this hill for the rest of the thread without specifically predicting you'll make an ass of yourself with the third post of page 17.

This team is on the verge of becoming a circus. Peterman benched game one, Leslie Fraizer getting benched in game two, Davis quitting the team in the middle of a game. At some point you have to look at the man in charge. This is quickly turning into a pivotal moment for McD.
