Correction: This IS the Weather Channel. Ugh. Reminds me of the time the report was in the boat, and two people walked on the water behind her.

Watch this guy fight the winds as two people stroll behind him.

I came here to post this.  Some of the replies to the tweet are also very funny:

Here's the one you're talking about:

This dog cracks me up:

My brother is in Wilmington and got a tree through his roof.

Wow, that sure sucks! Glad everyone is OK. The most damage we ever got was not from a hurricane but “a little tropical storm” that saturated the ground so thoroughly (after an already wet spell) that 50+ foot pine tress were dropping all over. It was like trying to stand a pencil up in a cup of water, they just kept tipping and one landed on our family room fireplace. Shook the house like a bomb went off and I was worried about our foundation. I should have been worried we’d get screwed by the insurance company, because......

Funny watching people complain that they had to evacuate.  If it was really had and they weren't forced they would complain about not being evacuated.  With humans today you are damned if you do and damned if you dont.

The media suoerhypes everything for Ratings and their ego.

up here in the winter and early spring they announce horrible freezing rain that will be deadly 25 times each year for the at most 2 days we get it, and we adjust

what a great job, be totally wrong almost all the time and not a shred of accountability

Haha... I was going to post this.

What's worse is the guy isn't even good at acting. He actually looks like someone trying to fake it.

It'll be fine, but according to my brother, it was pretty broken up about it.

And by saying that, I'm really not going out on a, well, you know...

It's good he's not getting all sappy about it.  He sounds well-rooted.

Folks around here are convinced the supermarkets are in cahoots w/ local news & television and radio stations. Oversell the incoming storm, get everybody to buy tons of canned food, bottled water, propane, candles, batteries, **** that just sits on most shelves as inventory. The stores make a killing off approaching hurricanes.

About .3" of rain. Power was out 2 hours overnight. That's not unheard of on a regular occasion anyway.

You getting any of that flooding?

They just announced a mandatory evacuation of Cumberland County, NC, which is where Fort Bragg is partially located.  That's crazy.  The river flooding is going to cause so much more damage than the winds from this storm.

I'm pretty sure he is too. I thought this something that everyone knew. Like it gets warmer when the sun comes out.

Sooner or later people will use all of the items that you've mentioned, however,i don't understand why more people don't invest in a dependable generator.I could live off the land because my inner skull was schooled in survival training courses/classes...but we still own a generator.

When my power went out yesterday, my mom asked me “the electricity comes from the power plants, right?”. You’d be amazed at what people don’t know.

Oh heavens....my mother in-law thought water polo was played with horses. I'm not amazed, most just disappointed.

It'll be 12-18 hours after for the window of flooding. I have 30 acres bottom land which will be impacted. But I'm outside of Pittsburgh headed north now.

I heard an emergency alert yesterday that used two more catchy phrases to go along with "turn around don't drown".  I can't believe they've come up with three different rhymes all for the same message.  To be fair though, I'm not so sure rhyming "away" with "away" actually counts.

The funny thing... It is so tempting to try an ford a water crossing.  You are so close and things MAY look so shallow... Many must think: "Heck, why not!  Let's give the !@#$er a shot!"  Like Nate Peterman throwing a pass.  You're in it in a blink of an eye. Many vehicles/engines are only as good, too, as high as their air intake, with many it isn't that high.  Maybe 10" or so of water.  Then the whole thing about the tires breaking contact with ground and vehicle floating away.

Water was higher in.my region 3 weeks ago.  Suns out, Waters up barely and it was nothing

That's great, but it is very different in other areas.

You posted Saturday that rain had "stopped" in Virginia.

That is absolutely not true, except for a few hours.

All of this "in my area" stuff is meaningless to the millions who have been significantly impacted by this.

This was a horrific rain dumper, and anybody who denies that ought to consider the walk a mile in my shoes idiom.

It will take well over a month to get over this in the areas that bore the brunt.

Where in VA?  Was there at 1am going down 77 and to 52 and it had subsided until the NC border.

I'm well aware of the walk a mile in my shoes but most of those I know are saying it's not bad. Those affected most are Fayetteville area, not the coast/Wilmington/OB.

I've seen creeks floodnover bridges from friends etc. All dumb enough to drive through

Wilmington access is cut-off so they are affected.

Wow. I had been talking to friends Saturday and last night and they said they're alright, no issues.

The worst I've seen around here is Salisbury but that's just a hilly area.

What's your status with all this rain? Is your area seriously impacted?
