That is not how it is done at the professional level.  He might be headed to the practice squad

Well, that would be ridiculous for a 5th round draft pick who has looked good in camp and the games from all we've heard. Hopefully you're not really "the final word" ;)

Can I get tonight's lottery #'s Miss CLEO?

Weird story, but about two decades ago, someone stole our phone number and used it to rack up 1500 dollars of calls to Miss Cleo, launching a huge fight with AT&T to get the charges erased. Also, Ms. Cleo called our house demanding payment or she would send goons after us. Seriously.

This game gives McDermott the freedom to select any of the 3 QBs as his opening week starter with little warranted criticism from the fans or, more importantly, Bills players themselves.

It's pretty easy to make a very reasonable argument for Allen, Peterman or McCarron right now.

I just wonder if McDermott gets it out of the way and names a starter in the next couple days or if he extends the waiting game.

It looks like the game has slowed down for Peterman, he is a different player this year. If we start Allen we will ruin him. In my opinion of course.

Can not ruin him. It will only reveal what he actually is. The only way he gets ruined is physically. NP looks exactly as he did last year imo

The Jets move to trade up to get Darnold forcing the Bills to select Allen is a 30 for 30 waiting to happen. McBeane got played hard.

Out of your mind.... Darnold will be a bust. It just the nature of the Jesters. My brother in law is a huge fan an continuously points the failures of their organization to me.

I keep on hearing the narrative that Allen shouldn’t start because of A) he needs to learn and develop or B) he will get injured early in the season against the toughest part of our schedule.

What I haven’t heard is why he should start.

To me the reason you start Allen is A) he needs to learn on the field, B) there is no empirical evidence saying it’s better to sit or start your rookie QB.

Also from a strategic perspective isn’t it wise to play Allen earlier assuming he does suffer a season ending injury? That would give him more time to heal.

Any Bills fan ripping on Allen or Peterman right now needs to reevaluate their fan card. Allen looks like he’s going to be a good one. Peterman has certainly improved from his first season.

Regardless of who starts unless the OL significantly improves it won’t matter!

Yeah, the problem isn't the QBs. It is the 1st team OL and to a large extent the WR/TE corps.

Game 1 of the regular season will see a lot more running plays than preseason has. The QBs will look different because of it. I just think Allen can work better than Peterman with potential quick, short throws, but hasn't really been set up that way. I'd like to see at least a bubble screen or two per game. Use the ball speed. Be smarter about roll out passes. Use a screen or two bc the OL really looks the same either way. Heck, this is applicable to Peterman to an extent, too.

Peterman makes his mind up fast, but doesn't change it when perhaps he should. If he starts, don't be surprised to see 3+ picks.

I think Peterman is the one for quick short throws. Allen is still trying to get the feel of it. You can tell that he is still trying to workout something between fastball and a floater.

He’s always had that freedom. He doesn’t care what fans think. He’s trying to win football games. He owes it to all the vets on the roster and his staff to try what he thinks is the best chance to win right now.

Impossible to say, watching on TV. I don’t trust the announcers.  He just looked a little nervous and a little tentative to me.  I definitely would not want to start him on the road in Baltimore right now.

Completely agree. Until Daboll gets this oline figured out there's no hurry to rush Josh out there. Peterman has earned starting v Baltimore.

I’d say no, unless they went to the quick game. Have to compare apples to apples.

That's what I'm asking. Allen vs. Bengal's starting D compared to Peterman vs. Bengals starting D. Apples to Apples. Would Peterman have played worse, better, or the same?

AJ has done jack squat to support being the day1 starter other than getting 5 mill of Pegula's cash.

Peterman has easily outplayed all QB's. I'm not even sure how anyone here can debate it anymore?

Sacked 5 times, you don't do that to a project QB. Peterman can be an NFL coach after his career if he wants, he has a weak arm but extremely smart and a fast release.

Ignorance is not a bad word, people just do not have all the facts at times to take very difficult concepts and apply logic to their argument.  I am just well connected and informed

yep, AJM looked equally bad versus the Cleveland ones last week with the same Oline and WRs. He got killed too.

Seriously, just go away.  Bills fans got enough crap from the offensive line so we don't need more from some ...

Bills are my team to. It's unfortunate you get so upset about the reality of the situation that they are in tough this season and that logic pretty much dictates Allen is not the savoir many of you have been praying for.

About the same imo. No time for those plays to develop
