Maj may be fully correct that it's an ACL, but I was just saying that's not able to be guessed just from the brace. Looking at the video it could be any of those 3, or all 3. Sometimes you get lucky and it's just an MCL with that hit, let's hope. Edited August 18, 2018 by SouthNYfan

That brace is precautionary for almost all on the spot knee injuries where they feel there may be some internal damage. I've seen it for a minor quad strain applied on the spot. Kyle is a big dude, like really big. It could also be related to MCL, LCL, meniscus, quad tendon, hamstring, all sorts of stuff. It only immobilizes the knee so the muscles and supportive structures around the knee are not being relied on to keep it straight. It may very well be an ACL, it could also be 50 other things. So my experience has been false. Thanks for letting me know. Now I will go tell my Drs they were false when they put me that brace.
PirateHookerMD
Verified account 58s59 seconds ago M While the #Bills await test results for veteran DL Kyle Williams, who suffered a knee injury last night, the early word is that his ACL was spared. If the MRI confirms, it would mean Williams could return this season.

No. Your experience was not false. You had that brace with your ACL injuries. Your assertion that "it is an ACL injury" since you cannot say what injury he had based on the brace, as it is used for a multitude of knee injuries. Try to read a little better next time.

A ton of variables in that time period, but he has been the constant. Kyle is a fan favorite, probably will be a wall of famer, all drought team, face of the Bills 2000’s..I bet with him out, we end up stopping the run better. I did...I tore my ACL down to the bone...meniscus was tore as well.My injury also happened on a friday...I got carved and zippered up the following Tuesday at St.Joe's ( Suburban Orthopedics- Dr.Kahler).I was in a hard cast for 4 weeks before starting rehab/PT...this was in 1992.Obviously "things" are more advanced these days. I agree you can’t tell the injury by the brace, but if it’s a complete ACL tear, it’s kaput and there’s no need to protect it. My son tore his ACL and MCL in HS. His amazing PT examined his locked up leg at the first assessment. He only had a few degrees of motion (due to the initial PT sucking!). The new guy moved it the few degrees he still had, then, without warning, snapped it straight! I will NEVER forget that....I almost threw up and my son was lost between fear, pain...and punching him in the face! The PT explained the MCL wasn’t damaged because it was a straight forward and back motion, and the ACL, well....just wasn’t anymore. He needed the mobility to begin therapy to get ready for surgery. He’d lost a freakish amount of quad strength in such a short period of time. Crazy stuff! (He was back in a HS hoops game 5 months after surgery - this guy was amazing!) .
