New Orleans gave up their No. 27 pick, as well a fifth-round pick in the 2018 draft, for the Packers's 14th overall pick. The Packers will also get the Saints's first-round pick in 2019. YoloinOhio
Ah that’s right. I remember the saints trading but forget whose pick they got. Still surprised they gave up a 1st for him (not that he’s not good, but that’s a huge price) I could definitely see that trade working for both sides (Raiders and GB) if it happens

The Packers picks will both be in the 20s, maybe 30s. If we want Mack we can get him. I'm not sure that's the kind of move Beane would make though. CommonCents
This has gone on longer than I thought it would. Seems like him moving is an actual possibility. Are the Raiders in that bad of financial shape or are they totally bananas? You can’t get the appropriate value for a player like Mack who is coming off his rookie deal. History proves that. wppete
If we trade for him we would have to trade a big contract in return. Jerry Hughes and a 2nd round draft pick. Mack will cost roughly $20million a year. Luckily we have a QB on a rookie contract for the next 4 years + 1.

I heard they think Arden Key can be a game wrecker, even comparing him to Aldon Smith. Better be right or they are making a big mistake. Also in Mcdermott/Beane's 5 year plan an older Hughes would be ok to move - similar could be said re Shady if that was needed in such a deal. Both are older vets not likely to be around for years 4 & 5 of the Plan - both carry significant cap. I might prefer a Hughes + Shady + 3rd for Khalil Mack

We remove him from a 22 million/year contract with 35 million up front and offer him 'star names' like Shady Mccoy & Jerry Hughes (who require no up front bonus etcc) for his entrance into Las Vegas. We replace 2 name veterans with a younger stud who could dominate here for 6 years,

Re Arden Key - teams can always use more pass rushers - they could utilize a Jerry Hughes Re Marshawn Lynch - he is 32 and has run for 400 yrd and 800 yrds the last 2 years - Shady has been at 1200 yrds each of last 2 years - Shady can be used - teams often use 2 RBs Re Donald Penn - any salary reduction he gave is a drop in the ocean when Mack demands signing bonus of 40 million ballpark or higher

Shady would instantly be the primary back for the Raiders and take that offense to another level. Lynch, if he even makes it all year, would be a nice counter punch in the red zone. That obviously includes what Mack is getting paid. But if they exchange Mack for Hughes and Shady, theyd be about $4-5m over the cap this season (i think Mack’s cap hit is $11m this season?). These are just straight numbers and there are more intricacies when it comes to the cap but the Raiders can’t absorb both Hughes and Shady. I saw what you meant regarding the cap - you were pretty clear - From a Cap Shady + Hughes = near 20 million and Macks salary likely near 20 million...... but that doesnt matter much at all. What does matter is Mack also would come with a $40+ million up front signing bonus - a team strapped for cash like the Raiders might like not having to pay that

Don't forget guarantees have to be fully funded and deposited into an escrow account, that's one of the arguments NFL owners use against fully guaranteed contracts. Davis' net worth is 500M, one of the least rich owners in the league and I doubt that amount is liquid. Mack is looking at around $60M guaranteed. This. I am BEGGING someone to put this thread out of its misery. The reason why the Packers are the betting favorites, is because they have this guy throwing the ball named Aaron Rodgers. So, given that they have Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball, the Packers can AFFORD to give up multiple years of 1sts and 2nds and roster players for Mack. Do the Bills have Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball? Absolutely not. Therefore, Beane is NOT going to give away valuable future picks, just so that you people can wear red, white and blue jerseys with the #52 on Sundays.
