Rapaport: Bills won’t cut Tyrod, fine with paying 6 mill bonus

Recommended Posts

I was just going to post this. I happened to be watching it. It’s starting to look like Tyrod and a rookie to me.

Maybe.  It’s a reasonable approach.  Also could be leverage relative to a hesitant trade partner.

Tyrod and Lamar Jackson?

Tyrod + Lamar Jackson = worst case scenario, as they are pretty much the same player; Jackson just happens to be a bit taller.

The more I read about Jackson, the more I like him. If we were to stand pat at 21, I would be ok with him, moreso than Rudolph.

It's actually a smart move if they do plan on drafting Lamar Jackson. Taylor's contract is off the books in 2019 and any decent FA QB signed this year will want more than a one year deal. That means they'll have a lot of draft picks (this year) and salary cap (next year) to support Jackson's chances of success.

The only thing Jackson and Taylor have in common is, they're both black and can run. Jackson is a much better passer.

So they want to pay the bonus to make it easier to trade?

That sounds like a part of it. From what he said it was basically that the Bills aren’t just going to walk away without another plan in place. They won’t cut Tyrod to go try to find someone. If they have someone then they can try to trade him.

Or they think they can trade him and are not gonna just give him away for a bag of footballs

There's no sense in cutting him outright until we are sure we have his replacement. So I like this plan.

So it's not anyone but Tyrod at One Bills Drive.

I don't care if Jackson was better in 2017 than he was when he won the Heisman in 2016 (reality check: Manziel, Tebow, Leinart and Jason White won the Heisman too).  Bottom line, Jackson is nothing more than a taller version of Tyrod Taylor and would need the right offensive coordinator and offensive scheme to even have a chance of succeeding in the NFL.

Mike Vick said Lamar Jackson is five times better than he was when he was in college

Can't wait!!!! One QB who's more seasoned and can't be a real QB and then another one with the same skill set 7 years younger.

Championship!!!!!

Well, we do have a new offensive coordinator that is fresh out of the college game...
