The only metal I've listened to on purpose, is Billy Strings before he went bluegrass (and after). Cheap Trick is as close as it gets for me. and?

EasternOHBillsFan
It's not only because of the song but because whenever I hear Harry Chapin I think about his tragic death on the LIE at such a young age... life can be cruel.

I have some other favorites but this one stands out to me the most A song you know well I never really listened to it that closely but the rest of the song after the Bulls starting line ups sounds sad at the very least. Another Fan
5 hours ago, Joe Ferguson forever said: not that sad, I just love the song: Songs are in descending order: Most sad to least. When I was in high school my English teacher played that Tracy Chapman song to the class in 9th grade. Was the 1st time I heard of it. Pretty much everyone there laughed at it. I realized at that point most kids at this school were little sh1ts.

Pecos Bills
These lyrics, this entire album (A Crow Looked At Me) "Our daughter is one and a half You have been dead eleven days I got on the boat and came to the place Where the three of us were going to build our house if you had lived You died though So I came here alone with our baby and the dust of your bones..." muppy
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, that's life Tryna make ends meet You're a slave to money then you die I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down You know the one that takes you to the places Where all the veins meet yeah No change, I can change I can change, I can change But I'm here in my mold I am here in my mold But I'm a million different people From one day to the next I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no Have you ever been down? Well I've never prayed But tonight I'm on my knees yeah I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah I let the melody shine, Let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singing to me now No change, I can change I can change, I can change But I'm here in my mold I am here in my mold And I'm a million different people From one day to the next I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no Have you ever been down? I can't change it you know I can't change it 'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life Tryna make ends meet Tryna find some money then you die I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down You know the one that takes you to the places Where all the veins meet yeah You know I can change, I can change I can change, I can change But I'm here in my mold I am here in my mold And I'm a million different people From one day to the next I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no [Ad-libs:] You've gotta change my mold, no, no, no It's just sex and violence, melody and silence Gotta, can't change my violence, melody and silence I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down Been down Ever been down Ever been down Ever been down Ever been down Have you ever been down? Have you ever been down? Edited January 5 by muppy

ExiledInIllinois
I think it's sad. My wife disagrees and think they just went away. I guess cowbell makes it sorta upbeat. I still think it's sad AND the line: "...Could you be dead? You always were two steps ahead, of everyone We'd walk behind while you would run I look up at your house And I can almost hear you shout down to me Where I always used to be..." Dying even metaphorically is still sad. Nostalgia is sad... Sad or not sad?

poblano
Actually all this album it's sort of a conceptual album, hence the title -the funeral album-. It was the last studio album of the band, which dissolved at the end of the tour and a few months later the leader of the group died. a Personally this song means a lot for me

Nextmanup
This is a beautiful piece of music, but is overwhelmingly sad in its theme and construction... One of my favorites.
Ridgewaycynic2013
It's sad not because of the tune or the theme or the lyrics...it's sad because the TBD member thought the guy on the Jets was Levon Bell, and we spent multiple pages teasing him. * We bad. 😕😁
