Another Fan
Last night I was watching when Crazzie Cabbie fought Stuttering John from 2002 in Atlantic City. The whole thing was a laugh riot. Bettlejuice as well coming out in the ring with Don King. I was never a big fan but I would listen to him occasionally in the Artie Lange days and knew all the players and wack packers on his show. But since he went to satellite radio, became pretty pc, and seems like more of an entertainment reporter today I lost interest. How about you?
PastaJoe
I still listen. For me the best era was when Jackie Martling and Stuttering John were on. As for now the best entertainment is when Sal and Richard do goofy stuff or talk about their lives. I’m not a fan of the serious entertainment interviews.
teef
i listen depending who is on. if the interview is someone interesting, i'll keep it on. after the pandemic and everyone left the studio, it completely lacked something. it's really a podcast at this point. i did have howard 101 on recently, (i never listen to it) and they had a segment where sam kinison and jessica hahn were having a throw down argument. it was amazing radio. 1
The Jokeman
I haven't listened since he moved to satellite, I've caught a few snipits through youtube etc. but as my username suggests I enjoyed the Jackie era.
dpberr
Was. Gets by on reputation of what he once was. IMO, got politically correct and lazy with the big money and second marriage. 1990s Howard Stern would have probably been doing man on the street interviews in NYC in 2020 instead of being holed up in a basement for nearly three years. He would have paraded pornstars in Times Square only wearing surgical masks. 3

Johnny Hammersticks
I still listen almost daily. I watch most of the interviews depending on who is on the show. I think Howard, and the show, is better than ever. I love the impressionists he has on the show now. Chris Wilding doing Dr. Now absolutely kills me. Logic
Always loved Howard. When I was younger, I'd watch the half four televised version of his show on the E! network and loved it. Then, as the years went on, he left behind the "let's throw hot dogs at lesbians in a kitty pool" schtick and became a first rate interviewer. Some of his interviews over the past decade or so have been really phenomenal, with him mining nuggets of information from musicians and actors that no one else could get. That said, it's been some years since I've listened.

I didn't enjoy the skits having a brother throw hotdogs at his naked sister while she sang karaoke and he had to beat get slapped by Gary the ######... Or whatever most of that stuff was. It was funny to listen to on the radio sometimes - because it was genuinely funny on the radio. And stern was a genius to pull off a visual skit on the radio. The best moments where when he would just comment on the world, discuss nonsense with his staff. Richards dad, or robins weekend spending $10,000 on an enema and wine, or any such nonsense. Then he started to just ease up on it. The criticism of the insanely out of touch Hollywood lifestyle was off limits, no more mocking the general public, and after a while it was all targeted to a large chunk of his audience that enjoyed his blue collar humor. He lost touch with his roots just like NASCAR. During his prime it was amazing. I listen to radio classics and old radio shows while working a lot. Been meaning to go get Howard 101 for some old shows for a while. Maybe I'll start soon

Rico
He is a great interviewer, I'll give him that. I will still watch clips on YT when he's talking to someone like Macca. That's it though, he started becoming devoid of any real laughs years ago, and I stopped listening. Maybe he got funny again since I bailed, but all indications to me are that he hasn't. I can understand people change and evolve as they get older. But he really did a 180 to make me sorta go what a fake with certain things..... Like for example for years he would obsess and beat up Rosie O'Donnell on his show where I thought he would go over the line sometimes. And now they are like best friends. He spent like 30 years beating up and hating on Kathie Lee Gifford and now he says this is because she is everything he isn't. US Egg
Was a diehard listener before he went to satellite. Nothing could compare or was as funny on radio up to that point, imo. Felt he lost his edge and the show was not the same when the shackles came off. I never paid him no mind afterwards.
Irv
He's just not the same. Too much time in the Hamptons. Beetlejuice vs Gilbert Godfried is likely my favorite all-time segment. Don't listen anymore.
Bill from NYC
I LOVED to hear from Crazy Alice and that guy Elliot Offen. They would have me in tears laughing. The prank calls were also freaking great. Now, the show is nothing more than a PC ball washing session for celebrities. In fact, I dropped Howard from my Sirius account and saved about 60 dollars per year. I find him to be unlistenable. Of course, jmo.

BillsFanNC
What was the standard canned response here for years whenever a Stern thread came up? "Howard Stern hasn't been funny for years, and I no longer listen to him" I finally got to that point myself around 2019 and dropped Sirius. A few friends of mine finally bailed during covid when he hid in his basement doing the "show"
muppy
Howard Stern has hosted many great musical guests on his program. 2 immediately memorable performsnces for me were Don Henley "Desperado " and the Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine performing "Purple Rain" in studio I was never a fan of his comedic schtick but he was very popular to many absolutely. UConn James
My uncle (a Marine ‘Nam vet) hanged Stern out of a window by his shirt collar when he was in Hartford in the ‘80s(?). It was at an office party or something, my aunt worked at the station and Stern said something to really p— him off. 1
leh-nerd skin-erd
I lived in the lower Hudson Valley throughout the 1980s. My job involved a lot of driving, and Howard was must listen for me in those days. There were times I took an extra turn or two to catch the rest of a segment to the break. Rented his pay per view, read his book etc. I’m in the camp of thinking he stopped being funny quite a while ago. Probably a natural thing when you’re worth several hundred million and realize you’re best known for sophomoric humor and you haven’t been a sophomore for 50 years. Still a great interviewer though. 1

LabattBlue
His show was still very good on Sirius, and was becoming more PC in the years before Covid, but broadcasting from his basement was the final nail in the coffin for me. Gave up the sirius package that he was a part of a year and a half ago or so. I take it he is still doing a remote broadcast from there? Talk about mailing it in while making millions per year

May Day 10
I listened in the back end of his radio days. Then I went to Sirius. His channels were a really cool thing for the time. I thought it was a really good show for awhile. Got repetitive in the later Artie days and suffered a bit more after he left and nobody filled that role. Sirius was quickly made obsolete by internet clouds, radio, and podcasts, they made it a huge pain to keep my bargain price and I ditched it 10ish years ago and havent heard Howard since
boyst
Turned over to stern this evening. He has a guy calling in asking about his girlfriend... A trams woman. Stern was incredibly polite and encouraging to the guy vs make any type of jokes, not even about trans. A guy called in pretending to be the guys girlfriend. Still, it was dull. 30 years ago he would have had jokes for days that still wouldn't go beyond the limits of modern cancel culture.

BillsFanNC
I dropped Sirius a few years ago so I haven't listened to Howard in awhile, but a friend sent this to me yesterday. Howard has always been a huge Rush detractor...hater would probably be a better word. But he just gave a rave review of Geddy Lee's new autobiography "My 'Effin Life" The story about Geddy's parents meeting, falling in love and eventually getting married in a WWII concentration camp is quite a story. The chapter describing what his parents went through in the concentration camp is tough to read. As is the chapter about Neil's cancer diagnosis and passing. Even if you aren't a Rush fan it is a great read. Edited February 29 by BillsFanNC
Another Fan
I actually thought of this thread and confidentially it got bumped. Some old clips of Bettlejuice and his manager Sean I watched last night that were making me laugh…. I’ll give Howard credit for being able to get information out of his guests nobody else does or can. But he’s still too much of a fake for me these days. But then again I remember he used to have his News segments on the end of each show when he was on FM radio. My thought was for a guy that dislikes celebrities so much he sure does know a lot about them. My point being maybe he never really changed and this is the person he always aspired to be,
stuvian
I didn't discover him until he was on Sirius. Some of his comedy was really original and fresh. I still laugh about Pastor David Manning. In a seemingly perpetual accident of timing, he always seemed to be at his most potty mouthed when I had my kids in the car. The window of time when I could listen seem to shrink. Now that he's old enough enough to be a grandfather, i find it rather unseemly for a man his age to be discussing the sordid details of bodily fluids in a celebrity sex tape. I eventually cancelled my Sirius subscription as I am retired now and drive a lot less.
Sweats
I was the biggest die-hard HS fan since the beginning, however, i cancelled my Sirius/XM subscription a couple years ago cause i lost interest.....there were just no fresh ideas and the show became a podcast of sorts and seemed to have "lost" something in their transition from the studio to their homes.
Fr. Jerk
I never got into the Sirius era. Artie kind of took over as being an actual normal guy on the show, and he was. After he left it wasn't the same. 1
