Interesting that they included Knox too.

He and Edmunds are both on expiring contracts.

Edmunds will be extended and Knox will be tagged this year imo. Oliver is going to be a guy I think they try like hell to sign but is going to leave in FA. He’s going to be too $$$$ at the end of the day. Jmo

I'm not convinced they'll extend Edmunds but I really have no idea.

They say they love him.

Hopefully more impact plays as Frazier says.

I’m told that we should have held onto Beasley, Sanders and Hughes so that we could be even older.

I think the bills brain trust are aware of a players shelf life on a team. When it is time to cut bait I think they will. Having prepared by drafts their replacements. This year we saw one of our oldies Shaq Lawson play with fire and intensity. Im not ready to put him out to pasture. He may be old but he is GOOD at what he does.

I know age factors in but production is More Key. imo The roster will take care of itself.

It makes sense for a team like the Bills to plug holes and acquire depth by signing vets who are willing to give up a little salary in exchange for a shot at a ring.  We're going to have a rotating crew of guys like that around for the foreseeable future.  It's fine.

We have a very good young core -- Allen (obv), Davis, Knox, Diggs, Oliver, Groot, Milano, Edmunds, Tre.  Those guys and a handful of other guys are folks we can build around for the next handful of seasons.  As long as we've got youth and talent among playmakers where it counts, I don't care how old our backup linemen is, or how old our gunners are.

I actually find this interesting. I would have thought the Bills would be one of the younger teams but I guess they’ve evolved over the last couple of years. It means to me that the the Front Office is going to have their work cut out for them going forward. Lots a cap space juggling ahead and definitely time to start hitting big time with draft picks.

I would prioritize Oliver over either Knox or Edmunds.  Not sure if the team feels the same way of course.

I would put JaQuan Johnson in there. He’ll be the Poyer replacement and he honestly could start today. I think this is why Poyer didn’t hold out.

I know they really like him, and I think he'd be a solid safety on other teams, but at this point I don't think Jaquan can carry Poyer's shoes, actually.

It would sort of be like adjusting the defense from Milano to AJ Klein, it could be done and it was after some bad games, but Milano took on roles because of his skill set that Klein (a solid player) couldn't fill.

If Oliver has a breakout year we really need to re-sign him.  But we'll see.

Doesn’t matter, teams are endlessly bringing in new players via FA and the draft to fill positions of need annually, it’s SOP league wide. Nothing to worry about.

Go Bills!!!

They should’ve prioritized drafting IOL early rather than relying on Saffold and Morse again. That would’ve helped squash your age mean.

Yeah I’m just predicting what I think will happen

I'm pretty convinced they will, mainly because I think he's going to have a huge year behind this DL.

I think Milano then gets traded in the offseason and we bump Bernard up to his spot.  Maybe they find a way to keep him, but with Allen's contract hitting and guys like Davis, Knox and Oliver coming due.. I think it will be tough.  Hopefully the cap goes silly and it all works out.

Just listening to how current and ex players talk about Joquan Johnson I think he’s ready.

I won’t compare him to Poyer but he’s ready to start.

Agreed.  I actually love what they did in drafting guys like Cook and Shakir.  Think it’s a clear sign they’re trying to add speed and versatility to the offensive skill positions.

Of course there's nothing to worry about.  The 3 oldest players all 34 are a ST gunner, OL (who will be replaced) and a backup QB.

If those 3 guys were replaced by 22-year-old rookies, it drops the team average age by .6 of a year.

Math is fun.

As others have said, amongst starters, Poyer and Saffold are likely gone after this season. As will be depth/stop gap players like Van Roten and Quessenberry.

Older vets at ST/P specialists and backup QB are often older and don’t matter in the calculation.

The only notable returning players 30+ next year will be Hyde, Miller and probably Morse.

Every year with Josh expectations will be playoffs

This season is the end of an era though. McDermott and Frazier have had a nice run on defense with little change. We’re going to see 2-3 major roster changes next year on defense. Edmunds and Poyer gone. Maybe others. Both replaced with inexpensive contracts.

Any non playoff years will be based on the division honestly. 3 teams are in rebuilds. If those rebuilds fail the Bills will have a major advantage every year. Similar to NE with Brady.

KC’s problem is yes the talent is less, but the teams in their division are better.

I agree, the Safety tandem is getting to the backend of their primes.

And we're still scabbing our way at RT, Morse is getting older at Center, and I agree that Edmunds coming back seems like a long shot.
