Are We Setting Ourselves Up For Disappointment?

I know we, the fans, are hype about FA. Our team is finally good again and positioned to be that way for a while. We're seeing the Bills linked to a bunch of big names and seeing reports that some have even reached out to us. We are really just an impact player or two away from hoisting a Lombardi. I can't help but think that maybe we're expecting too much and aren't going to see the big moves we were hoping for. Hope I'm wrong, but going big in FA doesn't seem like Beane/McDermott style.

Only way I'll be disappointed is if we have an unsuccessful season. There are players I'd personally like to see in a Bills uni but I trust in whatever they do in the next couple months. This FO has earned the benefit of the doubt from me

I think the kind of posters who are hoping for a trade for Saquon Barkley, signing for Chandler Jones, Rob Gronkowski, Bobby Wagner, re-signing Harrison Phillips AND trading Tremaine Edmunds for a 2nd Round Pick DEFINITELY are.

But I don't think *a* big time signing, especially something like Gronk, on an incentive laden deal, is out of the question.

I think it all depends on what your personal expectations are.

We have no cap space and can't even afford to sign a lot of our own FA this year.  Anyone expecting Wagner&Robinson&Gronk etc will probably be disappointed.

I'd be happy if we land even one impact player (Chandler Jones) but even that is unlikely.

We'll still be returning most of the players from one of the best rosters in football last year.  Hopefully we have a good draft and our salary cap issues clear up next year.

I'd actually be disappointed if the FO goes and restructures Dawkins/White/Diggs etc and pulls future cap space to sign some overpriced FAs...  right now our Super Bowl window looks like it's open for a long time.   No need to mortgage the future IMO.

With salary cap like it is I'm not expecting a big move signing.

Don't listen to it. Our cap situation is great. We don't have anything in terms of future anchor contracts yet. We have plenty of options to push money into the future.

Beane doesn't want to push cap back and spend major assets on a rental player. I get that. But there's moves to be made.

I feel like I’m setting myself up for being very interested. I’m taking nothing for granted.

Odds are were losing both Jerry Hughes and Addison in FA, they weren't very productive to begin with. I can't see us having faith in two 2nd year players and a 3rd year player to man those positions in a SB window. Maybe it won't be a huge splash but I'd go as far as to say there almost definitely will be a splash there imo.

The “we need to makes big splash!” mentality is left over from the drought era, when free agency and the draft were our Super Bowl.

The truth of the matter now is that the Bills are the AFC Super Bowl favorites going into next season and don’t NEED a big splash.

A few shrewd additions here and there? Sure. One big name, perhaps? That’d be great! But it’s not NECESSARY.

The Bills are really good and have the best quarterback on the planet. It’s ok if they don’t overspend for a bunch of big names on the back nine of their careers.

I never expected big moves due to our salary cap, so if we do i would be surprised.

I’m not expecting much so anything we get is a bonus I think we are going to go with the status quo
