I guess I am unclear on the specifics of his case. Offering him money to lose is terrible. But is it evidence of racial discrimination or just terrible behavior by Ross? Like, is there reason to believe he would not have offered $100k/loss to (insert white coach)?

And he's already being held up as a hero for exposing this. Why didn't he quit the moment Ross offered him such a deal? Would he have come out and talked about this if Ross extended his contract?

True. That’s what you get when an EEO type lawsuit is filed - all your dirty laundry, relevant or not, is going to be aired. if nothing else it compels a settlement.

2 hours ago, Coach Tuesday said:

FOOTNOTE 30:

"Ironically, during their January 11, 2022 text exchange, Mr. McDonnell also suggested that if Mr. Flores were hired as the Giants Head Coach, Brian Daboll might be interested in leaving Buffalo to serve as his Offensive Coordinator (“Heard Daboll isn’t happy with Sean [McDermott] in Buffalo . . . might be able to get out if he doesn’t get a head job... thoughts?”)."

😱

The benching of McK.

It's filed under the same complaint but appears to be two or more separate issues that he is pointing out.

Owner paying him to lose

Owner setting up secret meetings with FA QB

Owner poisoning people against him because he didn't do what he wanted

Rooney rule interview when BB said they already had their guy in NJ

I'm sure there is more but I'm not gonna read it all.  I'm not a lawyer.

That $100K incentive per loss is amazing.  They should lose the team.

Not sure how you ask a proud coach and players to lose a game for draft position.

I am pretty sure Flores has enough money.  He also has integrity.  F the Dolphins and Ross.

Keep in mind: Flores needs to prove his claims. The accused don't have to prove anything. But they will strike back and poke holes in everything he says.

He's dragging a lot of people into this mess with him, which (ironically) goes to support the point Ross made about him not being able to get along with people in the building and therefore needing to be let go.

McDermott: so now he is driving away coaches? what's the point of that assertion about Daboll, exactly? McD stayed with the Bills because of his race, while Flores was fired from the Dolphins because of his, when they both are impossible to get along with? That's amateur hour lawyering, if so. Different teams, different management, just for starters. It's not a 1:1 situation.

Schoen: So now his character is being called into question, as he is essentially being called a racist only 2 weeks into his new job.

Belichick: His senior moment text is now going to drag him in. How did Bill have any inside knowledge? So the ex Bills executive told Bill who he was going to hire? Bill can just say he heard the reports that Daboll was the favorite for the job like we all did. Were any of us shocked when he went to NJ? Aren't there "sindiers" reporting on this stuff day and night? Bill can just say he was going on news reports and then there is ZERO proof that the Giants interview process was a sham.

Also, having a lead candidate (if that's what happened) but casting a wide net and interviewing a larger group, but then ultimately coming back to that same lead candidate in the end is not a sham at all. Happens all the time and it's completely defensible. What if your lead person turns you down? You need to be able to quickly pivot, thus going through the process.

Elway: so he is a drunk who is also a racist and totally unprofessional. Nice.

Ross: Ross said Flores had issues getting along with people. Does any of this make him seem wrong?

Just now, Roy Hobbs said:

If Flores was so upset about the 100K tanking offer and the supposed yacht meeting with Brady, why did he not resign at either time and alert the NFL ?

He wanted to try winning. He is a competitor.

So while rightfully ticked .. this is not about race. It is about the thing that drives hirings in the NFL .. personal relationships. Mara may well have been interested in Flores on January 11, but then he hired his GM .. the GM did what seemingly most new GMs do .. they bring in somebody they know who they feel they can work with.  I have seen this in the workplace .. we are going to hire Sally but we need to interview 3 candidates to satisfy a rule by HR, so two people get interviewed when the hiring manager has no intention of offering them the job.

The NFL does have a nepotism / friend problem, how many Ryan's, Shanahan's, Shula's, Belichick's, Reid's ... have gotten into coaching and then their friends, who are in their circles (and friend groups often look like the person) get opportunities .... so I am not saying that black coaches have a harder time .. they do, but not because of their skin  .. but because of the relationships.  This I suspect will change over time and the Rooney rule I think has helped

Bottom-line the owner of the Dolphins didn't fire Flores because of his skin color, he fired him because the relationship wasn't working for the owner  and he had an under .500 winning percentage over three years (I am just guessing if he had taken the team to the playoffs this year .. he would still be the coach). The Giants didn't hire Daboll because he is white and Flores is black.. they hired Daboll because Schoen was comfortable with him based on their working relationship .. and they were only going to interview Flores to avoid a penalty from the league.

They already interviews Leslie.  Flores wasn't even needed as a Rooney rule interview.

The Giants hired the Bills Asst GM (who has absolutely no ties to Brian Flores).  And then the Bills Asst GM hires the Bills OC.  Wow, shocker.  I wouldn't be surprised if they were already decided on Daboll and that's why they went with Schoen.  They want to be the Bills and they want Daniel Jones to be Allen, who wouldn't?  Flores should have saved his race card and not used it up on this one.  Just because a new GM brings in his guy doesn't mean it has anything to do with racism.  It was the Bills package deal they were looking for.
