Jim was a great DC for buffalo. I was very upset when he didn't get the job. Also I'm glad we got our coach now

Yeah I was extremely angry over that. That defense was going all out for him. I was so angry to end up with friggen Rex Ryan and let Schwartz just walk away

He doesn’t have a great record as a HC but he inherited a 0-16 team. He did get them to the playoffs at one point I thought. Has worked with #1 pick at QB. I just think he could elicit some respect from the locker room which is what the they need. Though I’m not sure who is more petty, him or Baker ?

I think Schwartz is an excellent candidate for a HC position, and if I was Browns I would hire him over Daboll...although I want the Browns (or anyone) to hire Daboll so we can get an OC that isn't great one minute and an idiot the next.

I found it interesting that the Schwartz request came right after their meeting with Daboll.  Could it be that Daboll said he'd want Schwartz to be DC if he got the job in Cleveland.

I remember Michael Lombardi hinting Schwartz would welcome a change of scenery

Or the opposite they asked if he was OC who he'd like to work with.

Sometimes interviews are not just about candidate being interviewed.

Would you really want to leave Josh Allen for Baker Mayfield?  Plus, he's already been an OC in Cleveland so a lateral transfer seems unlikely at this point.

Yeah I don’t see a lateral move plus he’s “home” in Buffalo now and likely would prefer to stay all things equal. I think he would hate Baker’s personality. He might take it on for a HC job but not lateral move

He'd also have to deal with the divas around him in OBJ and Landry.  I can understand the talent argument being the best he's ever had to work with, but he'd have to have a lot of faith they're committed to rebuilding their o-line.

And then he immediately ran threw back into the ground.

This is an awesome search going for the Browns----Jim Schwartz!!

I’d like to see him in Cleveland. That would be fun, he is a no no nonesense guy. He will at least straighten up that locker room.

Give him a broom and a laundry basket

Watch out for Jeff Fisher next (that’s a real rumor).

I heard that this AM.  Hey, why not?  They need to stack the list with guys who would never turn them down.

I wonder if another ex Detroit coach, Jim Caldwell, would get a call. Get a grown up to lead the offense for once.

Caldwell would make a great OC in Buffalo too...if :censored: leaves or in my dreams gets fired.

If i'm not mistaken didn't he get hired as QB coach, assistant HC for the Dolphins last off season and took a leave of absence for some reason. Although he remained as a consultant.

I believe that’s correct. I saw Chris mortenson tweet that he’s been cleared medically.

His contract is up in Philly.  There’s definitely a connection with McDaniels through Belichick.  I know some people in Cleveland who are close to the team and they think that this is what is happening (though they don’t have anything concrete).

It also makes you wonder about Daboll as OC.  While I’m sure he’d want to stay close to family, I’m not sure where he stands with the Bills and he definitely has ties to McDaniels.

It’s the least attractive opening imo

Which is crazy when you think about the talent on the roster. They are a good O line away from being a complete (talent wise) roster

Just sooooooo many personalities. Its like a madden ultimate roster, but in real life you get the attitudes too

such a talented defensive roster though.

offense has talent to, but I’m thinking it’s a messy locker room.

I don’t like their defense outside of Garrett. Vernon could be good but was hurt all year. Ogunjobi is ok. LBs arent great imo and schobert apparently on his way out (though that could change with the new GM and coach) Ward regressed a lot this year but I think it was due to scheme. He’s a man corner and they played a ton of zone.

According to that nfl reporter whose name I won’t even try to spell (Aditi K), McDaniels wife wants to live in Charlotte

Just to clarify my above comments: I think that Cleveland really wants McDaniels and that he’d love to go home and return the team he grew up rooting for to glory, but that it’s far from certain that he’ll take the job.  There’s obviously a lot of concerns walking into an organization that’s been such a crap show.

Isn't Schwartz under contract as D coordinator in Philly?  The Browns can't just hire him away, and I doubt he'd want that.

His contract runs out after the season ends.

Schwarz loves those stud ends and press man corners.  Richardson is another name he might get the most out of. I guess knowing whether Garrett gets a Chance any time soon to play or not make a big difference.

Preston and Nigel at LB were nothing special but he made it work with a solid front 4 and good corners.

But hey... maybe they ll like at Wade Phillips since he’s now part of that legendary Mcvay tree ?

McD's handling of this has been very un-McD. He's the master of giving canned answers (not a criticism as it doesn't cause external distractions). His refusal to publicly talk up Daboll just seems weird.

Hmmm wonder if he’s headed to Cleveland with his boy from the Patsies to be OC and McD isn’t too sad about it?
