I don't remember when it happened in the game, but the Bills were backed up to the end zone, 3rd and 12, Allen escapes pressure, rolls to his left and while he's running, he hits Zay Jones for a first down, with Jones essentially holding his toes in bound as he falls out of bounds. If you watch that throw and still wonder if Allen will be a really good NFL QB, you're just lying to yourself. There are things to learn and progress to be made and plenty to work on, but damn...the dude is going to be terrific for years to come.

Your view of what a perfect throw is also happens to be an IMPOSSIBLE throw. Kind of like saying they should have kicked at the end of the first half. They threw because hauschka measured his range pregame and knew he couldn’t make it. Same concept here. The throw could not have been any better under the circumstances. The fact you don’t know the difference between a running QB and a QB who looks to throw first but can use his legs when necessary is all we need to know about your analysis. Anyone calling Josh a “running” QB in the vein of TT or Vick has no idea what they are watching. Edited December 2, 2018 by Alphadawg7

mjt328
1 hour ago, VW82 said: The announcers made reference to that. Personally I think it's BS. Even if he's stopping you still lead him a little because he needs time to decelerate. Besides, Josh was throwing behind Zay on cross routes all game. But even if we give that one to him, it's about the pattern over the whole year and the fact it isn't getting better. What's getting better is Allen is becoming more consistent making plays with his legs. He's routinely missing guys when he has time and they're open though. I don't care that it's only seven starts. That's enough time to understand what the issues are, and right now his accuracy is by far the biggest issue standing in the way of his development. That's not something QBs usually get dramatically better with. Let's hope Josh can beat the odds. Every QB misses throws. I'm literally sitting here watching Red Zone, and in the Chiefs-Raiders game Patrick Mahomes just overthrew Tyreek HIll on back-to-back passes. They flipped it over to Patriots-Vikings and Tom Brady immediately under-threw his receiver by about 5 yards (still caught). Drew Brees is probably the most accurate QB I've ever seen, and he was missing lots of throws high on Thursday night. Aaron Rodgers pretty much lost the Packers their game a week ago by overthrowing Adams in the endzone. Honestly, I haven't seen a regular pattern of bad accuracy from Josh Allen this year. He seems to have 1-2 throws each week where misses an easy throw (usually because he doesn't set his feet). But it's not a case where he just consistently struggles to get the ball on his receiver. Many of his misses are way downfield where accuracy is spotty for everyone, or cases of miscommunication (see the Zay Jones play) with his receivers. On the flip-side, you can see a handful of times each week that he can make perfect strikes 25-30 yards downfield and hit his guys in stride. Now... EJ Manuel struggled with bad accuracy. He almost NEVER hit receivers in stride. He always forced them to stop in mid-route or stretch-out to make catches. It wasn't a case where he sometimes failed in his mechanics. It was a situation where he just didn't know how to throw an accurate football to a moving target. 1

Therefore it wasn’t a bad pass. The quarterback’s job is to get the ball to the receiver whose job it is to catch the ball, especially when it hits him in his hands. That or lack of talent. They don't lack talent on D. Just completely ridiculous. The Milano penalty was ***** I'll give them that. He had perfect inside position and turned back for the ball but because the tight end threw his hands up it's a penalty. But the dumb ass penalty by Phillips when they had the stop and could've forced a field goal, that should be a benchable offense at the least. And we won't even go into the choke slam sack or Fitzpatrick tackling Zay before the ball was there, two huge penalties that would've made the game winning score a 10-15 yard run for Allen that weren't called. But here we are talking about an ugly looking pass that our 2nd rate tight end misjudged and fell down while trying to catch it. I think the biggest problem right now is guys just aren't doing the little things. Everyone is trying to win the game in a single play and it just doesn't work like that. Daboll and Allen need to get that short passing game going early. It works. I know the kid has a big arm but it should be something used sparingly, not every attempt should have to be for 20 yards on a 3rd and 17. Playing QB is all about rythmn and he can't get into it only throwing on 3rd down trying to pick up big chunks of yardage. Shady needs to aim for 5 yards and not 50 to the house and the receivers all need to concentrate on catching the bill first, everything else comes second.
