Other than Watkins who was injured people thought that group was trash.

I’d remove Woods from the trash group as well. Hogan is still JAG, and Goodwin improved after leaving BUF and dedicating himself to football. Fear of being out of the league can do that to you.

Watkins is on pace for 52 catches, 720 yards and 2 touchdowns for 14 million dollars a year.  For the life of me I do not understand the obsession with this guy.

Can someone please tell me what we won when these guys were on the team?

Goodwin has also put up a massive 54 yards in 3 games.

Hogan has Brady and he can make any receiver inflate their numbers.

I'll give Woods the benefit here but we weren't going to be able to resign him IMO so you can't fault the FO for not retaining him.

They won nothing because they still had no QB. Now, they have no QB and  no WRs.

All could have been retained.  Self-inflicted wound.

We won the right to watch EJ Manuel waste their talents. Nothing else.  Watkins is a triple bust.  Under performed what the Bills gave for him. Same for the Raiders. Ditto for the Chiefs.  Hogan just might benefit from the goat. Goodwin s not that good. Woods would have been smart to keep.

Weird that the best offenses and coaches seem to want Sammy.

and I love the point that if you don’t win a championship, every player is worthless.

Those are all guys who run crisp routes, beat their man, and catch the ball. They can all blaze down the field and get yards after catch as well. Not a single one of them are "just another guy" including Hogan.

Tom frickin Brady does not throw the football to "just another guy"

If we cut Zay or KB tomorrow, the pats are not picking up either one and making them their next go-to guy. Zay and KB are "just another guy" not Hogan. Hogan is an excellent receiver.

Strange isn’t it. McVay immediately traded for Cooks when they dropped out of the Watkins derby. He needed a deep threat for that offense to thrive. Reid was more than happy to sign him, even though he has an elite TE in Kelce plus Hill at WR. Haven’t noticed Watkins dropping passes or anything.

He's on his third team in two years.   The best offensive coach in the league did want him you're right, for one year and then let him go on his way.

If you want to pay 14 million dollars for 52 catches and 2 touchdowns be my guest.  For what its worth, I wasnt only talking about championships.   Lest you forget the team everyone here is moaning about every week was in the playoffs last year.

Tom Brady has thrown TDs to many JAGs in his career, as did Peyton Manning etc.

That’s the FA salary structure in the NFL. Not every player is on a rookie contract.Watkins had 8 TDs with the Rams last year, most of any Rams WR. The money got big, but McVay made sure he replaced Watkins with a guy that has a similar skill set. There’s a reason for that.

It’s like good coaches know you need a bunch of threats in the passing games because it opens up the field.  Weird.

I would take what KC has every day of the week.  Part of the reason Hill gets so open is because KC is loaded with threats.  Watkins was their leading receiver vs the Jags.  Good receivers don’t need to have 100 yards to make an impact.

Overrated!  He will be on a new team again next year.  Woods is a way better receiver.

Future first ballot HOF left tackle Joe Thomas played his whole career having never been to the playoffs.  Maybe "what did we win with these players?" is a faulty argument.

Hogan, Watkins, and Woods play on the 3 best teams in the league right now for whatever that's worth.

Hogan's a go to guy on like the greatest football dynasty in history, but ok.

But they’re not a dynasty because of Hogan; it’s the guy throwing him the ball. No shame in it as all the greats have thrown many a TD pass to JAG WRs. If you play long enough ( if you’re good that usually happens) it’s guaranteed. Marino, Manning et al threw lots of passes to guys that were just players in the league, not great players.

None of them did much while here and all were subject to a lot of fan scrutiny in varying degrees.

Now you want them all back?

You must have a short memory.

Doesn't matter what the fans think, it's up to the GM to evaluate.

Woods was a very good receiver. And a phenomenal run blocker. He looks pretty damn fast in LA...

That was my point.

So you both would have been fine with the Bills giving him the type of contract the Rams gave him?

With Watkins and Shady, they were top 10 in points scored.  And Rex destroyed the defense.  Is he worth two first round picks, no.  Was he a complete WR when healthy, yes!  He has deep speed and size to go over the middle.  He was the best combination of WR skills since Moulds. Not elite speed like Lee Evans, but enough to get deep on a regular basis.  And his contract would be perfectly fine on this team.  They could have given him his 5th year option and still had plenty of cap room.

On another note, one might argue there was an injury risk.  Well he has not missed any time due to the foot.

Beane messed up. Darby and Watkins are far better than Gaines, Mathews, and 2nd and 3rd round picks.  And in full disclosure I liked the Darby trade. I thought he was a one year wonder but he is playing well in Philadelphia.  I can admit I was wrong.  I doubt Beane will.
