26CornerBlitz
2018 NFL rookie rankings: Darius Leonard on top at quarter mark With the 2018 regular season at the quarter mark, former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah has reviewed his notes from the first four weeks to rank the top 25 rookies in the league today. Heading into Week 5, it's time to update my rookie rankings. This list will continue to change throughout the season, as we see more rookies given increased roles for their respective teams. I had a very difficult time sorting out the top three players on this list. They were each productive, impactful difference-makers during the first four games of the season. NOTE: Arrows reflect changes from the preseason rookie rankings.

jahnyc
Entirely subjective, but I don't think I would put Edmunds in the top 25. Allen definitely would not.
Boatdrinks
30 minutes ago, BBills88 said: Why do we care. It’s relevant on a Bills message board. Our current FO invested major picks in this years rookies. They seem to have a penchant for paying multiple picks for specific players rather than taking best available with a single pick. Beane and McD may overrate themselves as talent evaluators. Their rebuild strategy of jettisoning talent from previous regimes places outsize importance on their ability to evaluate and draft players. These types of lists may give an indication of how this overhaul is going. 1
Augie
I tend to like DJ, but this doesn’t bother me in the least after just 4 games. A rookie QB and a MLB who just turned 20. Whatever. In a decade, I’ll feel differently. Hoping that looks better down the road. Edited October 6, 2018 by Augie 2

GreggTX
I think it's fair to say that Allen is at a serious disadvantage here. Who has a weaker supporting cast? Take away McCoy and this may be the weakest offensive lineup I've seen in 58 years of watching football. Only the Dan Darraugh led Bills that posted back to back 1-13 seasons can compare. ganesh
The team has been blown out in 3 of the 4 games with very little statistics to back on a "growth". So it would only be expected that "Non-Bills" NFL evaluators are not going to put them on a high pedestal.

Seoulofstone
It’s nothing to get worked up over, but the absence of TE here is questionable. Van der Esch makes it despite barely playing until the fourth game of the year. He’s barely generated any noteworthy plays and his snap count has to be way lower than TE (admittedly haven’t checked). I think as a Panthers fan looking at this list that there are a few guys who are still living a bit off their glowing scout reports done by the likes of the very same DJ. I mean in truth he’s gonna have his bias which he will need to shake. There’s also the obvious shoutouts to big market and high picks. It’s sports media. I like Allen. I said it predraft and I haven’t changed my mind. I think just like the Bills he will prove people wrong. In years to come everyone will pretend that they saw something in JA rather than admitting their doubt. It’s just the way things go. It’s just hard to project with that car crash oline and KB (sorry about that). Keep the faith lads. Here’s a better list: http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/284076/baker-mayfield-debuts-in-top-10-rookie-rankings Edited October 11, 2018 by Seoul_panther

whatdrought
I like DJ a lot, probably one of my favorite talent evaluators. He is fair and honest, willing to admit when he's wrong, and very rarely gets a hobby horse player that he gets stuck on. Bucky Brooks, who shares a Pod with DJ, is more annoying. That being said- I don't mind them not being on there. Argument could be made that Johnson is our best rookie at this point. I do question how Darnold warrants a spot, and Allen doesn't. But I'm not going to lose sleep on it.

FistingBot
Who cares what some national sports writer thinks of our rookies? Beat the Texas on Sunday and that's three wins in four games.
