Agent 91
I am cool with it. Could you imagine Marcus Brown or AJ Brown with Allen. Croom works for me. The biggest thing. Get this man a line

VW82
Jets seem to be going through the same thing right now with Darnold. I disagree we've played four SB contenders though. Ravens look good. Chargers have been mostly average outside of against us. Minny was super banged up. Rodgers is playing on one leg, and their defense is middling at best. Washington took them apart last week. I don't think you can just ignore performances like the one Allen had today, and chalk it up to being a rookie. Yes it's a learning experience, but it still happened. And it was really, really ugly.

Heitz
Lotta Packers fans said to me today “It’ll be ok, the kid is going to a good one - eventually!” Except dude about 4 rows back that kept yelling at me “ALLEN SUCKS!”. All the other Pack fans laughed when I finally turned around and said “bet you weren’t bitching last week...” ?
PearlHowardman
I was in the game day thread here today. I never heard such criticism of a Buffalo Bills QB, rookie or no rookie. Josh Allen is in a really bad situation with a bad team like the 2018 Buffalo Bills. I just don't see Josh Allen progressing. He's constantly running for his life!
billsfan_34
Spot on! He needs to develop and learn to protect himself. Bills brass must get him a line, WR’s, and a young back! Im aftaid to say (yes, hes banged up) but Shady is nearing the end. He has looked slow even before he got hurt.

CEN-CAL17
I don’t think there’s an excuse ever for... 3rd & 4 and all your WRs run 20 yards down field. That has nothing to do with a rookie QB. That’s terrible play calling. And it happens more often than not.
GimmeSomeProcess
I expected this going into to the season and why I didn’t want to play Allen till week 5. At Minny and Green Bay is challenging for a rookie qb and he won one of those games.

Because some ignorant fans make the mistake of evaluating teams based on their records from the preceding year doesn't make them a Super Bowl contender. Rather than discuss factors outside of Allen's control like "play calling" as a cover for his performance, why not focus much more directly on aspects of his game that he has total control over? Like accuracy of his throws once he does choose to throw the ball.

jahnyc
I am worried about Allen's accuracy throwing the ball. This was a well known issue prior to the draft, but if it does not improve, he (and the Bills) will have problems. I really hope this is fixable, but he looked awful today. Plenty of blame to go around, including play calling, wide receivers and o-line, but his lack of accuracy is my greatest concern at this point. Horrible game plan by Daboll Oldest play in the book is the Slant Out combo, read the corner. That’s the easiest way to get 5 yards. With the right read, and a great pass it’s tough to stop.... or you can have all your WRs run 15 yards down the field while the defense brings 6 guys! It’s crazy 19 minutes ago, GimmeSomeProcess said: Couldn’t agree more terrible design and idea. Horrible game plan by Daboll Point being... you should have 6-7 plays concepts that can be ran out of multiple formations for 3 & 5 scenarios. But you run all your guys deep. Got it, Oline sucks and WRs are terrible
dgrochester55
Allen was a raw prospect. Every scouting report univerisally said that this was not a player that should be a short term option and that he would need time. He has actually progressed more than many thought so far. Today was bad, but he did not have any help from his line or wide receivers. That being said he was bad too, but I'm not going to give up on him after one game. My biggest worry is that this regime planned poorly for this. They gave him no help at line, or wide receiver or a reliable veteran QB to keep the helm until Allen was ready. I hope that Allen can stay strong and make it through this year. Edited September 30, 2018 by dgrochester55

Formerly Allan in MD
McCain turned out fine after being tortured. Hopefully, Allen will do likewise. Allen's make-up suggests he'll pull it off. The question is: will management assist him sufficiently?
Boatdrinks
Not that simple. Other teams have rookie QBs, and have some talent around them. Throw in the fact that Allen may not even be any good, and you have the mess that is the Bills offense. It’s going to be hard to evaluate, but Allen looks less than the other rookies as an NFL passer. Edited September 30, 2018 by Boatdrinks

Ralonzo
Allen's not near ready. I don't think the coaches are giving him more than one read before being instructed to throw it away, or run, or scramble around like a playground. This season will be QB play 101 and hope that some of this starts to look familiar enough by next year, to hopefully start adding on top of it. Right around the time it starts to make sense is right around the time the front office usually gets cleaned out, sooo...

Steptide
Imo Allen needs to make one major correction, and that's throwing the short 5-10 yards passes. If he can consistently do that, like what we saw in Minnesota, he can be really good.

Allen needs to get the ball out quicker and also stop looking 40 yards down field every throw. Just take the easy dump off sometimes. I admit the play calling needs to be better also. zow2
Eh. I *think* Allen will be good but I haven’t seen that much visual evidence yet. His very best throw was dropped by Robert Foster vs Minny. The play to Croom was nice but he was wide open. One long pass was a screen to Ivory. The other great plays were superhuman running ability, which will be shut down as we saw today. So yes, the receivers suck, but cmon, can we see some passes into tight windows and touch balls in the end zone?
VW82
Man there's a lot of excuses going on here. Play calling was bad. Oline was bad. Receivers were bad. The only legit excuse to me is Allen shouldn't even have been out there. He should have had a real QB to watch and learn behind. Allen was his own (and the Bills') worst enemy out there today. He was the main reason we sucked, not everyone else. He tanked this game with his terrible play. Hopefully he bounces back, and we can look back on this week as his career low point (as surely it can't get lower than today, right??). He's going to need to because we can put all the talent in the world around him, but this team won't ever amount to anything if plays even remotely like he did today. Yuck.
