I think we all saw this coming. I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what he can do. If he stays suited up the entire game its already an upgrade on Davis.

Yeah. Not a real shock as many suspected they would elevate him instead of picking up a veteran street free agent.

Dissecting the Buffalo Bills’ cornerback conundrum

The Buffalo Bills’ defense has gotten absolutely scorched en route to the team’s 0-2 start this season. There are many things factoring into that, but a glaring one is what was done at the cornerback position this offseason. The difference between this year’s unit and last year’s is night and day.

For reference, here are the snap counts for the players who suited up at CB for the Bills last season. Tre’Davious White (98.7%) led the way, followed by Leonard Johnson (60.7%), E.J. Gaines (59%), Shareece Wright (41%), Lafayette Pitts (2.7%), and Greg Mabin (2.5%).

From that group, Pitts and White are the only two still on the Bills roster.

Here’s how playing time has been divvied out for Buffalo’s CBs through two games this season. White leads (98%), then Phillip Gaines (64%), Pitts (22%), Vontae Davis (21%), and Taron Johnson (12%). Also, safety Rafael Bush has played 51-percent of the defensive snaps, with a good amount of those coming at the nickel corner position.

It’s evident that the Bills have a lot of new faces defending the boundaries this season, but so far, it hasn’t panned out.

Well, he can't be worse than Vontae.

Depends on which half of the game you are comparing him to

Did you not watch the Bills in 2017?  Was a pretty solid contributor at DB.  Played in 15 games, started 7....52 tackles and 7 passes defended.  That Leonard Johnson?

Yeah, he's a HARD hitter, too.

I fully expect WR/PR Hunter Sharp to be called up within the next couple of weeks.

Don't be so sure.  The reason he got cut was wild inconsistency in preseason

...and Leonard Johnson is still a FA.  Just sayin.

Yes and I said weeks ago he should have been resigned.  At very least he is a good dime CB who matches well against taller, more physical WRs.

Julio Jones tried his usual stuff out muscling DBs and Leonard gave more and Julio ended up not returning 2nd half in Falcons game.

Was watching game with some ex-Bills and Thomas Smith has a lot of good things to say about him.

Julio Jones would agree with that.
