They want people talking about this, not the FISA declass (or what it will show). That's about as far out as they've thought out this strategy.

******************************************************************

... Apparently the accuser wrote a similar letter about Justice Gorsuch (Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are 3 years apart and both attended the same prep academy).

Not confirmed yet... working on it.

I wish I lived through I time where the political environment would allow me to be absolutely stunned by this.

Sadly, I'm not even a bit surprised.  If true this should be weaponized against both the Democrats and the # metoo movement for the remainder of there existence.

It's amazing, isn't it? I had two people call me about it, but I couldn't it (still working on it). Now I'm hearing from journalists covering the Hill the dems they spoke to aren't denying the second letter's existence. That's reportedly why DF didn't bring it up in the open session, the republicans were ready apparently.

Just listening to someone on the radio right now saying that if they can't get him for rape, he shouldn't be confirmed anyway because...underaged drinking.

Yet as am employer, we are not even permitted to ask job applicants if they have a criminal past.  Can we imagine a world where a job applicant who is accused of doing something 30+ years ago and before the age of 18 can be disqualified for a job in which the applicant is highly qualified and has no criminal history?

I think there are a lot of different answers, first of which is they think they can put this off until after the mid-terms and, should they win enough seats, maybe parlay it into a  moderate judge who would be more like Kennedy.

But I think in the end, the left is mostly panicked because they literally have no message going into the mid-terms beyond "We now openly embrace socialism." They are the flip side of the GOP during its early Tea Party candidates. When the GOP had a woman running an ad that says "I'm not a witch," the Dems have a woman Ocasio, who is an equally hot mess because she literally has no idea what she is saying beyond "Socialism good!"

So the Dem's plan right now is rabble, rabble, rabble...with very specific media support calling Kavanaugh a sexual predator.

It's all they have at the moment., especially in light of how Trump is going to release docs that show Obama and Clinton colluding to overtake Trump with the fake Russia story, so they need to make as much noise as possible.

But then again, I could be totally wrong.

I don't think they have any intention of leveraging any of this into a moderate Trump nomination.  I think they're perfectly happy to go to 2020 with a vacant Supreme Court seat.  Or wait for Trump to be impeached, so they can steal underpants and profit.

Don't forget: they think they won the presidency, and Trump is illegitimate.  These should be their nominations, not his.

I *think* you're joking, but it's a testimony to the state of the Dems that one could easily argue you're serious.

as I said above..I just don't see the upside for the Dems long or short term .

Too many of them live in a bubble where everyone outside that bubble is a deplorable, virulent dregs of society who can and should be ignored.

Within their own world-view - bubble-view - there is nothing BUT upside.

I'm not joking.  This is about identity.  How a person identifies themselves is the single most inviolable thing about that person.  Most people will destroy themselves and everything around them rather than change how they view themselves.

And they identify as the #Resistance.  They can't accept a Trump nomination.  They'd have to throw out their entire self-image.

Wow, I hope this is true. This Ford broad will be annihilated under oath, and every single Democrat on the committee will look like even bigger fools (if that's even possible.) Hopefully this would be the nail in Feinstein's coffin - let the even loonier liberal unseat her.

the answer is within your post, so you most likely are not as dumb as you might think, with regard here.

they want to deny Kavanaugh because he is viewed as a stauch conservative and if he is put onto the Court, he will heavily tip the scales with a conservative slant. if they can deny him or postpone the confirmation hearing until after the mid terms, by winning the majority, they are hoping that they will be able to deny him outright by a vote. also, if they hold a majority, they can prevent the seat being filled by any other stauch conservative and force Trump to nominate, at minimum a moderate which would better serve their agenda.

i believe the court is considered to be an even split right now with Chief Justice Neil Gorsuch, Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Samuel Alito, and Justice Anthony Kennedy all leaning right and Justice Elena Kagan, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Justice Stephen Breyer, and Justice Sonia Sotomayor all leaning left. so if Kavanaugh gets on, it will tilt the court to the right and it is widely suspected that RBG may not outlast Trump, so they are doubly scared.

You forget Edwards.

I have to believe that if the right had a copy of a similar letter from Ford about Gorsuch that we would have heard about it, at least in the past week.

Still, if it's true, the fall out for the left from this kind of deception would be enormous. Trump will beat them about the head and shoulders like he was holding a wet fish.

Meanwhile, Matthew Dodd knows how to heal the country...

I have a way for you to heal the country, Dowd.

If they have it, why not keep it in reserve and use it for maximum impact (once an idiot like Feinstein falls into the trap)? Beat the Democrats at their own game.

DIANNE FEINSTEIN ON KAVANAUGH ACCUSATION: ‘I CAN’T SAY EVERYTHING IS TRUTHFUL.’

Senator Dianne Feinstein of California conceded Tuesday that she can’t attest to the veracity of Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were in high school.

“[Ford] is a woman that has been, I think, profoundly impacted. On this . . . I can’t say that everything is truthful. I don’t know,” Feinstein told reporters on Capitol Hill when asked if she believed the allegation.

As one Twitter user noted, “And there we go. Why Feinstein sat on it for months. She didn’t buy it either. But she needed a last-minute Hail Mary so this is what she went for.”

I'll be damned. They really are that stupid.

Add to this that Ford is stupid enough to ask for an FBI investigation before she'll testify?

I see John McClane standing on top of the DNC Headquarters, looking down on all the Dems asking, "Who's driving that car? Stevie Wonder?"

So it's over. This is an epic implosion

(The FBI did investigate, and made their recommendation to do nothing more. It's up to local authorities, but it's also well past the statute of limitations. The accuser is asking the impossible, the left will hope the media spin/metoo sensitivity will give them cover as they try to retreat. Vote goes forward next week... Kavanaugh gets confirmed.)

To me, that’s a sin. Lying about service is beyond wrong. I never forgave Reagan for it.

This is from the Reagan  Library web site:

Military Service of Ronald Reagan

Ronald Wilson Reagan enrolled in a series of home-study Army Extension Courses on 18 March 1935. After completing 14 of the courses, he enlisted in the Army Enlisted Reserve on 29 April 1937, as a Private assigned to Troop B, 322nd Cavalry at Des Moines, Iowa. He was appointed Second Lieutenant in the Officers Reserve Corps of the Cavalry on 25 May 1937.  On June 18 of that year Reagan, who had just moved to Los Angeles to begin his film career, accepted his Officer's Commission and was assigned to the 323rdCavalry.

Lieutenant Reagan was ordered to active duty on 19 April 1942. Due to eyesight difficulties, he was classified for limited service only, which excluded him from serving overseas. His first assignment was at the San Francisco Port of Embarkation at Fort Mason, California, as liaison officer of the Port and Transportation Office. Upon the request of the Army Air Forces (AAF), he applied for a transfer from the Cavalry to the AAF on 15 May 1942; the transfer was approved on 9 June 1942. He was assigned to AAF Public Relations and subsequently to the 1st Motion Picture Unit in Culver City, California. Reagan was promoted to First Lieutenant on 14 January 1943 and was sent to the Provisional Task Force Show Unit of This Is The Army at Burbank, California. Following this duty, he returned to the 1st Motion Picture Unit, and on 22 July 1943 was promoted to Captain.

In January 1944, Captain Reagan was ordered to temporary duty in New York City to participate in the opening of the sixth War Loan Drive. He was assigned to the 18th AAF Base Unit, Culver City, California on 14 November 1944, where he remained until the end of the war. He was recommended for promotion to Major on 2 February 1945, but this recommendation was disapproved on July 17 of that year. On 8 September 1945, he was ordered to report to Fort MacArthur, California, where he was separated from active duty on 9 December 1945.

While on active duty with the 1st Motion Picture Unit and the 18th Army Air Forces Base Unit, Captain Reagan served as Personnel Officer, Post Adjutant, and Executive Officer. By the end of the war, his units had produced some 400 training films for the Army Air Forces.

Implosion?  It's a huge win for the Democrats.  They just proved that the Republican War on Women is real.  They can't even get an investigation of a rape, never mind slowing down the Senate confirmation of the rapist to the Supreme Court.  This angers their base like nothing else.

Zero evidence of credible story on this yet. Exists so far only on The basis of a single Twitter post from some guy.

it is a sexy narrative but lets see if there are any facts or whether it's just a fiction that's capturing our innate desire to like a better story.

The thing I find strange is Feinstein walking back her support. That is out of character.

Anyways, I’m not sure if it was his Alzheimer’s or a huge lie — but the actor claimed he had liberated concentration camps like the men who went to war did. But he didn’t do that because he was never really in the service. He was an actor.

There's exactly as much evidence of that as there is of Ms. Ford's rather ridiculous story that he attempted to rape her at some unspecified date, time, and location 35ish years ago.

Not really. Ford overplayed Feinstein's hand. Before she came forward, the Democrats could keep teasing the 'anonymous' letter and release more details as it became convenient to put pressure on Grassley/McConnell to delay the vote - while also giving political cover for the Democrat Senators at risk of being ousted in November to not vote for Kavanaugh. The dingbat coming forward gave the GOP someone to investigate, someone whose credibility could be challenged, and gave Grassley someone to invite to be heard and questioned by the committee. When Ford refuses to appear on Monday, her story is dead in the water.

I refuse to testify at a Congressional hearing about how Senator Feinstein raped me when I was still in high school in 1965 until the FBI conducts a full investigation into the matter. #METHREE
