Would a dark horse team trading up & the Bills didn’t surprise you?

Recommended Posts

It wouldn’t shock me. If the first few picks go as expected then Denver would be in a great position. Now if they were to take a QB as well then the longer the draft goes from there the more that it allows some other not so expected team(s) to become a competitor for the last of the 4 touted QBs. Dolphins, Ravens, Cardinals, Chargers, Patriots and possibly the Saints all become more viable to trade up. Now if the Giants and Broncos unexpectingly decide to take QBs themselves then it won’t matter what the Bills want to do simply because the top 4 would be gone. That might actually be a blessing in disguise but really nobody will know that for quite some time.

Does anyone think that the above teams named will try and trade up into the top 7 picks other than the Bills?

Only a dummy would trade with another team knowing the Bills have more to offer.

I get the draft capital thing but if the unknown QB that the Bills coveted was actually already selected then maybe the Bills are even interested in trading up which would allow 1 of these other teams to decide if they want to trade up for that 3rd or 4th QB.

IF we don’t trade up, then I would believe this is what happened. The only way we don’t trade up is if the guy we wanted is already gone and we don’t deem anyone else is worth moving up for.

Bills will be getting a QB. They have come this far, there's no turning back. Even if they get the 4th QB they will make it seem like that was their guy all along

I'm really not worried about the Pats/Saints trading up.  No way either team is giving up that many high draft picks when they are able to compete for a championship right now.

I'm nervous the Dolphins might move up for Rosen or that the Cardinals might jump ahead of us to grab a QB.  If anyone else trades up into the top 11 it only helps us because I don't see any other team moving up for a QB.

It would be depressing for a second to see the screen flash "TRADE "at pick 5 or 6 only to find out a few minutes later that it's some other team moving up for Chubb or Nelson.

What if the Broncos decide to go UP rather than down?

Maybe just one spot with the Browns who will still get their guy, but get something in return while Denver gets their QB. Or three spots and the Giants still get a stud, plus a little more. Why do the Broncos just trade back

Hey, anything can happen here, that’s why it’s so intriguing.

As a Bills fan, I fully expect someone like the Cardinals to move in front of us and get Rosen for just 1 2nd rounder, while we take a DB at 12 and Rudolph at 22.

Your glass has a leak in it, doesn’t it?    :)

Sadly it would be the Billsy thing to happen.

Lets not let our minds go there!

Yup.  I completely expect it for that reason.   I can't help but think the Bills are going to miss out on all 4 QBs.

Sadly, you are correct my friend. Hence why Beane may have been talking up how closely graded all of the top QB's are.

You're using "&" as "other than"? Is that what you're doing here? Not sure at all. Is that what you mean?

And do you mean the Bills also do it? Do you mean the other team trades above the Bills? Sorry, I'm not clear on this at all. I think your headline threw me off.

Truly.

And who says the Bills have to use the 12th pick in the draft to move up? This is just assumed, but not the exclusive path.

22, plus 53, 56, 65 is over 1750 points -  I won't say that's enticing enough to get to 5, but certainly 7. Change it up; make part of the offer some part of 2019 (although I'm pretty sure Brandon Beane is categorically against trading future picks) and maybe you'll find a combination that works for you.

Why is it that we can't get ... [Insert QB here] at 6 and then possibly STILL MOVE UP from 12 to get ... [insert wild card here]?

What is to say you can't walk away from this draft with Quinton Nelson and Josh Rosen? Sam Darnold and Trumaine Edmunds? or two, game changing defensive players - say, Chubb and Smith, with some bizarre Toledo or Memphis QB in the 4th round that becomes Jimmy Garrapolo?

Anything could happen. You just don't know.

My point being this ...

why can't the dark horse moving up be ...The Buffalo Bills? There is a robust history of these kinds of moves in the NFL draft. Why can't the Bills have TWO top ten picks this year?
