A franchise tag from their current teams would probably run in the $25-28 mil area for one year. I'm sure the players and their agents don't want the tag for long-term security and salary negotiation reasons. I'm all for drafting a legitimate QB prospect. Paying a bunch of money for a free agent on that list aside from maybe Brees or Carr is going to make little difference on this team with the current problems. QBs are a fickle bunch and i dont blame them to want to have at least a little security behind centre. Our Oline will destroy many-a-career here for any QB that would be stupid enough to stand behind. New Orleans is a super bowl contender, Brees is still an excellent QB, he's worth every penny he wants and I can't imagine the Saints not signing him. Need 2 years of bad play to fill the roster and train the coach's guy. 3rd year, get all the FAs before the QBs extension. Edge rusher, RB, TE, CB, the easy positions.
