Carolina: signs guard to $100 million contract.  But wait, we have signed another guard for 50 million

The rest of NFL: guard signs for 19 million

Reminds me of the Derrick Dockery days.

Another guy I put up as a sleeper in his draft class. UDFA turned paid second contract. Congrats kid.

I think Geno Stone went, right? Byard went, McKinney went and Savage went. So some names did come off the board. It has thinned out a bit.

Stone to the Bengals

I'm also a bit surprised that Gabe Davis is the WR who has taken the largest bag going to a new team so far

I expect there to be larger, obviously, but I find it interesting that no one went full court press on OBJ, Boyd or Ridley

OBJ?  Shirley

Ridley?  I’ll bet that he……oh wait he already bet on that no then he dropped his phone……again

Boyd?  That will be interesting.

I mean if Ridley is there after the dust settles, see if he takes a prove it deal

he had over 1000 yards with 8 TDs....what does he need to prove?

Ridley Dropped more passes then Davis last year including one that knocked Jags out of playoffs

There a lot of good, cheap receivers who are going to become available in 6 weeks.  WR is an increasingly important position in the NFL, but the draft seems to be producing a bumper crop pretty consistently nowadays. That’s gonna affect the market.

Is Eddie Jackson the only big name safety left?

I posted this in another thread about soccer. Simmons and Curl are the elite guys left imo.

I do think there is a chance they are in on Justin Simmons or Kamren Curl. To me, those are both elite guys. Simmons is a top 5 safety. Curl is a great fit, excellent and is about to turn 25.

After that, you have younger guys in that 25-27 range like Julian Blackmon, Jordan Whitehead, Mike Edwards, K'Von Wallace, and Jordan Fuller. I think we likely get one in this group and I like Blackmon a lot. I think he is an awesome fit in what we do defensively. He's a former corner who reminds me of Micah Hyde.

Disappointing young guys like Jeremy Chinn and Ashtyn Davis. If you add these guys, I still think you have question marks in the secondary.

30+ vets like Eddie Jackson and Rayshawn Jenkins.

15.4% Davis to 14.9% Ridley

does ridley offer the grit, heart, and ethics of Davis? No.

Davis gets a lot of crap for dropping balls even though he should be catching them.

Sal is interviewing Jonah Bronstein about college hoops on WGR and randomly said “by the way, if we get any Bills news I’ll have to interrupt you. Hope that’s ok”

Does he know something?

It's free agency. A signing can happen at any time

15.4% Davis to 14.9% Ridley

Thanks, both have a high drop % with a pretty negligible difference between the two.  Considering JA probably puts more velocity on his average pass than most QBs one could assume the drop % of Bills WRs might be higher.  Lots of factors to consider though (placement, environmentals, etc)

I choose to believe he knows a Justin Jefferson trade is imminent

If that happened, then the Justin Jefferson thread would reach 100 pages on this board in about 30 minutes.

I’m not a huge Ridley fan, however the idea of pairing him with Diggs and perhaps Brian Thomas Jr would supercharge the offense.

if there’s a way to make the contract reasonable, go for it.

1 year with tons of incentives built in and void years with the possibility of extending him? Or will he only take a 3-4 year deal

Marcus Marriota was supposed to be the greatest QB. He reminded me of Ryan Leaf. That's not an insult.

His skill set is more reminiscent of Josh Allen yet he's a far less accomplished passer which is odd as when he came out he seemed to be more ready. Maybe he got stunted by his early coaching staffs or didn't put in the work. Now he's just a journeyman backup.

Did we learn how much Trubisky got? As that seems like a lot of money for an average backup as you'd think they'd bring Flacco back instead of finding someone else.

Watching him early in college was amazing. He has poise and threw like Bledsoe with Allen's tools and Leaf's swagger.

I'm actually more on the side of bringing in Hollywood Brown with that sub-4.3 speed and then drafting whoever draft a guy like Mitchell, Leggette, McConkey, Walker, Pearsal, or Wilson. If we could make a move up to get Thomas Jr at a reasonable price? I'd be all for that too. I think the top 3 of MHJ, Nabers, and Odunze will definitely be off of the board at places we aren't willing to pay the cost to get to.
