Very much a niche player.   A 3rd down back who really wont bring you much in terms of blocking.  His real role probably is a slot wideout, jet sweep specialist and kick returner.  Would rather have McKenzie back in that role.

Would rather have anyone other than McKenzie in that role.

IMO these are special types of players, role players, he is not capable of playing every down and for me these are the kinds of players you look for late in the draft or as a undrafted rookie free agent. I wouldn't pay for it as there are many of these types available again imo.

I do not follow the gospel according to gamma rage.

There have been plenty of players who have made significant contributions on special teams including returns and turnovers which made wins possible.   Using LOW COST (which is what you are emphasizing although not saying it) players is not something successful by most high rated special teams.

I was saying I personally wouldn't like the team to use a high pick on a player like this, he's 5'7" 179 lbs. so there's no way he's a FT starter, he's great on passing downs and contributes on special teams. Can't you find players like these in the 4th- undrafted free agency? I was not trying to hide anything. If you disagree that's fine I can respect that also but what would be your reasoning?

I thought 'gamma rage' results in:

Currently, he has not recovered from his knee injury and there is some serious doubt that he ever will.  He was fun to watch before the injury.  Lucky for him he had signed a new contract just prior to being hurt.  I'm sure that he is not on Beane's radar at this time.

Agreed, there's so many cheap options at RB, why gamble on a small guy that had a devastating knee injury. I would have been all for it if not for the injury.

What was the deal with CJ Spiller getting winded? Do you remember any more about that? My recollection of it is foggy.

It was a thing Chan Gailey said about Spiller b.c Spiller was complaining he wasn't getting enough touches.

""Well he gets ... he had two good runs in that first drive, he gets winded and he comes out. We just put Fred in there," Gailey said"

It was all that N-S running he seemed to do.  Finish with 43 yards official rushing; actually ran 311.  That, and running back to pick up his fumbles.
