transplantbillsfan
Sacks Per Game & Sack Percentage Per game 2018: 2.3 2019: 2.4 2020: 1.6 2021: 1.5 Percentage 2018: 7.59% and 21st in the NFL (Josh missed games, though) 2019: 7.12% and 21st in the NFL 2020: 4.66% and 7th in the NFL 2021: 3.89% and 2nd in the NFL (Brady & Bucs at #1) In 2019 Allen was the 10th most sacked QB in the NFL. In 2021 he was the 27th most sacked QB in the NFL. Does this say something about Allen's progression in the mental aspects of the game, including pre-snap, or are you attributing this mostly to OL? Discuss... Edited January 30, 2022 by transplantbillsfan
Draconator
Progression of Josh. The O line for 3/4ths of the season was downright horrible. It was Josh's ability that kept the sack totals so low. 3

MPL
We need to figure out how to clone Josh Allen and have a whole offense of Josh Allens and then get defensive Josh Allen and clone that Josh Allen and have an entire starting lineup of Josh Allens. 1

Warcodered
I have to think there's a better stat to show it than that, it only really moved once.

That’s why you don’t want them ever on the field at the same time. It’s brilliant. Although training camp would be useless

Call it the game slowing down or his process speeding up or whatever you like. But it is no coincidence.

And perhaps they should statistically distinguish it from the performance of the O-line. There are multiple factors behind those numbers, rule out what cannot be then if all you're left with is Josh Allen you can make the case. I'd like to see significantly fewer "dumb" sacks by Allen next year. I love the improvement; I just think he can do better. It's really the only thing that he does that makes me yell at the TV. "You can't take that sack, Josh!!!!" (But it's a far cry from the yelling I did during the Tuh-ROD Era - "Throw the mother fu*king ball, you moron!!!!) Same with fumbles. Josh had two fewer fumbles (9) than in 2020. Would like to see better. Although the trend is nice to see: 2019 - 16 2020 - 11 2021 - 9
LabattBlue
Maybe the numbers are comparable to number of sacks per game, but Isn’t the more telling stat, sack%?
78thealltimegreat
The guard position was getting him clocked once Ryan Bates was inserted in the lineup we where much better. As for Josh himself and his ability Greg Cossell even brought this up he knows what the defense wants to do to him and he now adjusts to it much faster The Jaguars game was just Murphys Law but other games where he was on the biggest stage he was the best player on the field and that’s kinda nice

How many folks here told us week in and week out that tuh-ROD was the man?! You could play a steaming turd at QB on this team and 3/4 of this fanbase would believe in it, simply b/c it's the QB of the Buffalo Bills. The 10-3 playoff game against Jacksonville was the most poorly QB'ed playoff game I've ever seen, for both teams.
