I have no problem the with the Bills targeting a replacement for Wallace. Hopefully someone with speed. I think FA will boil down to Scherff or a tier2 pass rusher. It's doubtful Tre is ready week 1?

Considering Tre went down on Thanksgiving, I doubt he will be back before mid season. And even then it’s doubtful he will be 100% and in football shape. We need another stud CB regardless if we resign Wallace.

No......Eh.......I watched him plenty and in particular he got worn down FAST in the first matchup with Alabama..........more snaps was only going to lead to diminishing returns statistically.

Now if he were a natural pass rushing prospect in addition to being a fat load..........then I would consider risking giving a very overweight player at a position with a very high bust rate a $7M signing bonus..........but he's not that kind of player.

Ah yes cherry pick one (1) game and draw conclusions. I bet you were well aware that the word is he played that game despite being Covid positive right? Did you watch the next game against Michigan and the Bama rematch? Totally different dude. I doubt you “watched him plenty” by any stretch of the imagination.

Two of the fastest........Jameson Williams and John Metchie..........tore ACL's in the Alabama postseason.

They are expected to make full recoveries.........but after the injuries they both might be available at #25 when the Bills pick.

The question mark is how much they could contribute next season coming off those injuries...........it's a long season so if you can get one back at full speed in November you still could have 8-9 games left to utilize them.    Complicated decision.

Then there are a number of others who are likely late first-early 2nd rounders who aren't injured but probably not quite explosive.

In general it's a very good WR class again but the players with special speed as well as other early round skills will likely be gone at some point in round 2.

Williams is much faster than Metchie. It isn't close. Metchie however is a more polished receiver, but is more than a full step slower.

Williams has Henry Ruggs type speed. On the Bills, Williams could run fly patters and Josh could hit him with strikes 60 yards downfield.  I don't want to give out the wrong impression.....Williams is VERY good, but he is not the best receiver to come out of Alabama in recent years. That would be a tall order but there were times when I saw him catch a pass in coverage and if he had any room, I knew that he was gone for a TD.  He IS a truly exciting player.

Didn’t I also see Williams returning punts and covering punt returns as a gunner?  He would have played some on defense, too, if the coaches had let him.  I’d love to land that kind of all-around sparkplug.

Coach he is pure speed. If a DB bites on one of his fakes even for a fraction of a second he is GONE. Because he is taller than Ruggs or Waddle (two other speedsters), he has very long strides. Remember the jokes about putting Spiller is "space?" 😀 If defensive backs were not playing WAY back this kid was freaking by them with no chance of being caught.

I don't claim to be an expert like Badol and Gunner, but I have watched every play that Metchie and Williams were involved in while they played at Alabama, to even include Metchie's "A" Game (inter squad game in April) as a freshman. In a couple of months I will post my yearly review of every draft eligible Alabama player. There will not be as many stars as there were in the 2021 draft and most of those guys kicked ass in the NFL.

Count me as one who doesn't think that this draft is even almost as good as the one last year but this is jmo.

I have this argument with people like you every offseason........those who are obsessed with using high picks on low dollar positions.

I am an actual college football fan.........not just someone who tunes in to see a player who might fit with the Bills........I've seen PLENTY of him in his 4 years at Georgia.

He's a nice player but a rotational guy who doesn't impact the passing game.........he HAS NOT been a dynamic player in any of his 4 years at Georgia.

But he'd be a good value in round 3 where addressing both sides of the running game starts to make sense...........and where he would still have ample motivation to get-and-stay in shape and get better at his game because he wouldn't be as likely to get fat and happy with a $7M signing bonus like pick #25 might.

If you want him.........wait a few years..........and maybe pick him up on waivers just like the Bills did with 340 pound former Dolphins second rounder Jordan Phillips.   Get him right before his contract is expiring and then reap the benefits of him playing for a big pay day.

Even the great Ted Washington was initially a bust in SF as a first round pick.     Keeping fat guys on point at a hustle position like DT ain't easy.

Goal for the offseason should be to add SPEED and AGGRESSION on both sides of the ball.  Period.

(And maybe fire the ST coordinator.)

It's a decent draft for mean OL and there are plenty of fast, quality receiving prospects........which IMO aligns nicely with their long term needs........protect and serve Josh Allen and do it in ways that will save the team cap room in the long term.

Defensively, they probably should plan on spending some money and becoming more adaptable to different opponents.

"I'm sorry guys, there appears to be some sort of seismic tremor, or earthquake going on here..."

(sigh of relief) "Nevermind, that's just the new Bills DT (fill in name of enormous angry man here)"

I want a huge, mean spirited, ultra competitive DT. Preferably one who can't stand Brady.

Why Brady? Makes the next part easier. Make him watch Man in the Arena episodes prior to big games.

This. This. This!!!

We need to stop looking at these types of games as the need to draft more defense. It’s a joke. Allen is our greatest strength and we need to support our greatest strength. If this defense doesn’t have all it needs after all the top picks poured into it, then someone else should be making the picks.

Allen is the only first round pick on offense in the McD era (unless you wanna include the Diggs trade). It’s so lopsided it’s not even funny. What do teams do when they draft qbs?  They get him weapons. What did we do in 2018?  We traded up for an underachieving linebacker and followed that up with two more defensive players. I don’t know…I just feel Allen deserves the type of talent around him that guys like burrow, Dak, and Justin Herbert have. We owe him that…especially after last night.

You're making this sound far more simple than it really is.

In 2018, our two biggest needs going into that draft were QB & LB. The Bills made the moves and got the players they wanted to fill those positions. Now one pick has worked out much better than the other, but at the time both picks made sense.

Also, those two other defensive players turned out to be Harrison Phillips and Taron Johnson.

Then in later years the Bills drafted Cody Ford, Devin Singletary, Dawson Knox, Gabriel Davis, Isaiah Hodgins, & Spencer Brown.

I understand that not all of these players have worked out, but a good amount of them have, and it shows that the Bills do address the offense in the draft.

Taking a more heavy offensive approach in how we draft, might be the way to go, but it's not as if the Bills are completely neglecting Josh Allen.

You conveniently left out all the first and second round picks on defense. That’s my point. You literally just supported my argument by naming all those picks on offense. We spent one pick on an offensive player before the third round…unless you want to count the first (and multiple others) for Diggs. Meanwhile, we seem to load up on first and second round talent on defense.

JOSH picked up the whole O (again) and put them on his shoulders and carried them. No Josh= No Magic.

He can’t take that kind of pounding forever and i would say , much longer. He is our investment and we need to protect him by creating a better line in front of him and a better running game  around him (that doesn’t include him to Tre extent it currently does.

The way you beat the Chiefs is you OUTSCORE them. You don’t slow them down.

Yep, and no one we draft this year at 25 (or later) is going to shut down Travis Kelce or Tyreek Hill...KC did not win because they have a better defense than us...play to your strength...get Josh more and better weapons...we should be trying to do that every year.
