You're not wrong, but as long as Kelce, Hill and Mahomes is there the Bills will always give up rushing yards to keep the pass game under wraps.

Jordan Davis isn't going to get you over the hump against he Chiefs.  We need to build on our greatest strength--Josh Allen.  He's the multiplier effect that will give you the greatest possible return on any offensive weapon that you add.  Sure, add some speed on defense too, but give Josh the weapons to maximize his incredible talent.

In order to get to Mahomes, first you have to beat other teams. Focus all your energy into beating one team and 30 others can pass you by.

So you want to use a 1st round pick on a run defender at a position of high bust rate that gives you 40%-45% of the snaps?

Try to remember that job #1 in the NFL is to support your QB...........other than actually getting Josh Allen.........4 of the other 5 #1 picks have been expended on defense.

Last I checked the Chiefs finished with a better record than Buffalo and had a bad run defense and are about to advance to their 3rd straight Super Bowl...........so a #1 overall ranked defense like the Bills should probably be enough to "beat other teams".

The Bills are not gifted on offense..........Josh Allen has put a lot of hard miles on his body to make it look that way............it's time to change that.

The story of this season isn't not being able to stop the run...........it can be summed up by scoring only 9 points in a game in Jacksonville..........on a day when your QB desperately needed a playmaker to pick him up........there weren't any to be found.

The draft is where you find premier talent for cheap.

it matters very much. missing on a first rd pick is still terrible for this team.

Not meaningless for sure but it’s down the list for this team. They’ll get a talented player but their window is open now. The coaching changes and FA decisions will do more to determine their SB fate next year.

It's time to go all in on the offense.

The O puts up numbers, but it's because we have the best player in the league at QB carrying this team.

We need 1-2 WRs, starting RB, #2 TE, and SPEED. If Morse leaves then a C too.

Josh can't do it all forever.

I want a speedy WR with our first or second pick.

From your statement, I assume you were also watching Star in the 4th quarter.

Yeah 5 years $50M for a 45% snap guy who made no plays but would "magically" make the defense much better was a big enough mistake.    The only time he played anywhere close to what he was getting paid was the brief point early in this season where he was fit and healthy and could rush the passer.    So they got like 2 good games for over $40M expended.    They need to be able to find a serviceable 1 tech cheap to back up Phillips.........who they really need to re-sign.

You do realize there is this whole thing called Free Agency as well, right? Also trades happen.

If the "story of the season" was the Jags game...if you really wants to single it down to 1 game...could just as easily be a game where the Bills got thrashed in the run at home against a team that ultimately missed the playoffs as well(Colts). Or the game against the Patriots where they win by running...agaim at home....or Titans where the opponent ran all over Buffalo for the W. Hmm...sense a theme in all those losses.

Buffalo Bills: Andrew Booth Jr., CB, Clemson
The Bills have the best pass defense in the NFL, but there's something to be said about bolstering a strength, especially when the goal each year is to beat Patrick Mahomes.

Andrew Booth Jr. is coming off an impressive 2020 campaign. There will be more focus on him with Derion Kendrick being expelled from the team.

27.  Buffalo Bills: Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida
The Bills could stand to strengthen their cornerback corps. Tre White will be coming off a serious injury, and they could use another outside corner to go with him.

In 2021, Elam recorded 29 tackles, five passes broken up and an interception. He played well in 2020, recording 39 tackles, two interceptions and 11 passes broken up. The 6-foot-1, 187-pounder was fantastic as a freshman, flashing serious ball skills even though he had a part-time role. Elam has good height and length with quickness. He could stand to fill out his frame, but considering he is only a true junior, he has the time to do it. With his skill set and upside, he could explode.

They have a starting RB.  The Bills OC just needs to use him regularly.

They are going need a CB, DT, O-line depth and a 2nd TE before they need a RB

Agreed.

It's time to invest in the Offense.  Yea, Josh is unstoppable when he throws for 300+, scrambles around extending plays and runs for 75 yards.  That is not sustainable.  We have to build a team that is not revolving around Josh Allen being a Patrick Mahomes/Lamar Jackson hybrid.  That's fine in the Playoffs, but not in the regular season.

Upgrade the OL with a premium pick at IOL.   Upgrade WR3.   Get some legit speed on Offense.   The groundwork for the Defense was laid last year... it's enough, time for the young guys to grow up.

I'm ok with CB in the 1st, but that's the only defensive position I can really tolerate at this point.

We'll see about the names in the coming months...

But right now I think the odds favor O-Line and speed at WR...B-)

Agree, but there will be some other holes, on DL, Obada, Phillips, Butler, Hughes and Addison are FA's.

Gotta see how Free Agency falls out.  If you can find a Debo Samuel-ish guy that would be awesome in this offense.

I was going to start a separate thread with a slightly different take but I'll go with it here.  It seems to me that draft preference has changed significantly in the last eight weeks.  Eight weeks ago, I would have been all-in on interior OL, either first or second round or both.  With the way the OL performed last six weeks, not sure that's true any more.  Dawkins (who was terrific last month) coming back healthy, Bates (who I believe needs to be re-signed), Morse (assuming he doesn't retire or is a cap casualty), Williams and Brown (who I think can be an All Pro in a couple of years although Ingram abused him in the fourth quarter last night) are solid.  Add Tommy Doyle as swing tackle and Feliciano as backup IOL and I don't think we necessarily go IOL early - maybe a mid round pick.

RB - many folks were crying out for an early RB pick eight weeks ago.  With Singletary's play down the stretch, I don't think that's an overwhelming need.  Maybe a veteran FA RB to provide some depth.

DL - I don't see how you invest more draft capital in the DL.  I assume both Hughes and Addison are gone.  You've got to let the three kids play next year and hope they develop.  Maybe get a veteran FA pass rush specialist.  It's not going to happen but how about a homecoming for Kalil Mack on a short term deal?

LB - Let Edmunds play out his contract.  Find a good run stuffing LB in the middle rounds and give the D some versatility.  When playing run heavy teams, play a traditional 4-3 with Edmunds outside and let's see if he can create some havoc playing for a new contract.

CB - I wouldn't have said it eight weeks ago and maybe it's some recency bias but I'm all in favor of drafting a CB #1.  Let Wallace walk, sign a mid level veteran, and hope White comes back mid season in decent form.
