Florida 35 Rest of America 1

Florida is like Niagara Falls, but with a little less pollution, many more beaches, and an equivalent amount of crazy.  Heaven help us all of this country turns into a larger version of Florida.

Or New Jersey - make America New Jersey!

much better than Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, S Carolina, large parts of N Carolina, rural Georgia, Louisiana, West Virginia, ...oh and f'in Florida.  You know the gators and snakes go crazy when they blast off rockets at Kennedy...Asheville and Nashville are cool tho.  Charleston SC if you ignore the remnants of the slave markets.

"69% of U.S. adults prioritize developing alternative energy sources, such as wind and solar, over expanding the production of oil, coal and natural gas."

"A 72% majority says the federal government should encourage the production of wind and solar power. About half (51%) say it should encourage the use of electric vehicles, while about a third say it should encourage the production of nuclear power (35%) and oil and gas drilling (33%). Fewer (20%) say the federal government should encourage coal mining, with the remainder saying that the government should either discourage coal mining or do neither of these."

This clear enough?

Our economy runs on cheap, reliable fuel. So sure; just make it cheap, reliable , convenient and readily available. That clear enough? I mean, this should be easy . You’ll be a billionaire in no time.
Realistically, I’d venture those numbers would be well under 50% if these well intentioned folks knew what their lifestyle would be like and what they’d have to do without. Don’t worry though, it will get there eventually , though at a pace that occurs organically. Give it about 75-100 years. And yes, you can disregard the loons- the world will still exist.

he’s running. He’s literally campaigning in other states as we speak. Why would he do that if he wants to stay governor of Florida

He looks like he’s practicing, maybe testing.

losing to trump in the primaries only for trump to lose the general might kill his aspirations. Orange man probably needs to fail one more time to finally go away for good. And 4 more Biden years aught to properly ***** the rest of the things up he hasn’t gotten to yet and make an electoral pendulum swing a certainty.

Ron actually has some decent qualities, even though he’s pretty far right as a legislator, and he doesn’t have the corrupt sleeze of all the Washington scumbags.

But nobody is going to help him ascend. He’s not ready

Just to pick one of your "points," 69% of Americans want us to become carbon neutral by 2050.

https://www.pewresearch.org/science/2022/03/01/americans-largely-favor-u-s-taking-steps-to-become-carbon-neutral-by-2050/

Is it a literacy issue or selective interpretation?

You skipped the “taking steps to” before “become” and misunderstood the context of the survey, and secondly asking if someone wants to do some ideal sounding thing without the accompanying sacrifice that individual must make isn’t really soliciting a real opinion.

Should we save the trees? Hell yeah save the trees… ok great! Um you can’t afford a house anymore because we stopped building wood frame homes . Still ok right?

The crazy in Florida is 90% the liberals and seeing as FL is growing so fast as NFL and all of NY is shrinking is hilarious. I doubt you have ever been outside the tourist areas of FL which is mainly non Floridians.

I'm neither a Democrat or Republican but I would love for someone to vote for against President Biden that can win.

Governor DeSantis can win in Florida with all this stuff, but not so sure it can sell nationally.

Every time Republicans try to own the libs with this stuff they end up looking like fools.  Taking it to Disney has resulted in Disney lawyers wiggling out of it.  They expelled 2 Democrat representatives in TN and they get right back in and are heroes.

Republicans would be better off finding someone that are sensible and not so divisive so people, many of them Democrats, are not so sure about electing an 81 year old man who clearly had cognitive issues. But if its Trump or DeSantis they may just stick with President Biden.

The cult spends more time trying to own the libs because they have viable NO PLATFORM; other than banning abortion and that will continue to be their death knell.

What does Joke have to sell to the American people?  Beyond how feeble he looks his policies have only made things worse, while he not only didn't shut down the virus, one could argue it was worse under him given the vaccines and treatments we didn't have under Trump.

DeSantis and his six week ban, he will never be president

The idiots on here were certain that the GOP was not going for a national ban and that 15 weeks was the target.  Remember those comments?  They are correct as usual.  LOL.

The difference is right now everyone is feeling and seeing how bad the DEMS(Bidens) policies Hurt people.

Hard to Do the "Desantis scare" when his state is doing so well and leads the nation in net domestic migration to it.

Trump rubs folks the wrong way, but his base sees DeSantis as Bush light.

Disney’s financial fairy tale in Florida is coming to an end thanks to Ron DeSantis

FTA:

The “declaration of restrictive covenants” gives Disney total control over development and even bans the new board from using Disney’s name or the names of any of its “fanciful characters.”

It added what is called a royal clause, used in England since 1692.

It specified this “Declaration shall continue in effect until 21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, King of England, living as of the date of this declaration.”

Disney may have been too clever by half. The “Hail Mickey” play appears fundamentally flawed.

I have been told the new board intends to treat the declaration as null and void. It appears to have strong grounds to do so.

Indeed, Disney’s legal case seemed no better planned than its political campaign.

First and foremost, under Florida Section 163.3225, a board cannot order such changes without giving a seven-day public notice and other conditions.

You are not allowed a jump scare like Space Mountain — you must give notice on your intended measures.

There is no indication the board did so.

That alone could nullify the declaration. Ordinarily, a board would simply reschedule the vote with proper notice, but the old board is gone.

There are also serious problems with a board using a declaration to nullify a state law and pass a development plan with no actual plan for development.

It is a curious legal claim that this now-defunct board could negate not just current state law but law for the next 30 years.

Instead, the new board will “quit talking and begin doing.” It will proceed with a vengeance.

Since the old board is no more, Disney will have to sue to try to enjoin the new board. For new CEO Bob Iger, this could make Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride look like a walk in the park.

Disney has no good options.

Kinda figured they couldn't just do what they wanted.  I wish they could come to an agreement, though.

Why would a governor attack his state's biggest employer.

Such a dumb meathead...

Because that employer is not paying their fair share of taxes and decided to get involved in politics by slandering the Governor.

How much does Disney pay Florida in taxes?

Why don't you explain to me how much? And if they are paying such a high rate why are they upset about DeSantis treating them like all the other companies.

You said they don't pay enough in taxes... how much do they pay?

Can you highlight how Xi Dion DeSantis is treating other companies?

He is the Gov. I am aware that he and Florida gave Disney $578 Million in tax breaks to relocate offices out of California to Florida.  That's what good Govs do.

Good governors threaten their largest employer by building a jail or a competing theme park next door?
