Like eliminate the filibuster on lower court justices?

You're referring to Harry Reid and this ultimately happened because of Republican obstructionism... and I think it was also led by McConnell

Yes...

Like use every shady way possible (Cornhusker Kickback, etc) to ram thru a health care bill that was sold as THE fix now its trash we need full universal care.

Democrats had a filibuster proof majority and the '08 election was almost primarily based on Healthcare.

They had a mandate. They couldn't get everything they wanted, but it was a helluva lot better than what was before or the nothingburger of a plan Trump has.

Outside of judges you don't like, in what ways did the GOP seek more power in DC?

Please see Donald Trump

More importantly, what exactly did they push that was as drastic and divisive a reform as the ACA?  They cut your taxes?

Eliminating the ACA and preexisting conditions, making abortion illegal, giving the richest of our country by far the most significant tax breaks, trying to deport young people who might not be US citizens but know no other country and are upstanding non-citizens, making it easier rather than harder for civilians to get assault rifles and other automatic weapons, rhetoric exonerated white supremacists like in Charlottesville, etc.

Hope it was worth destroying the Republic bc the GOP wants to secure the border with a 3rd world hole (how many have we deported under Trump?  I was told it would be endless busses), they want to stop killing babies, and they think there are alternatives to big government health care to get you coverage.

These are absolutely the policy positions that warrant *2016 will never ever happen again* level resistance.  Oh and Trump is an **s hole.  Yep totally worth it.

Um...because it is?  Have you seen what's happened in the past 48 hours?  Opposition is being silenced.  There have been two bills in Congress to expel Republicans from Congress en masse.  A third bill is being introduced that will declare the Republican Party a domestic terror organization.

I know most of you here agree with that.  But a one-party state that considers opposition True Evil that must be silenced is an extraordinarily bad idea.  This is what most of you claimed was Trump's goal in the past four years.  Now you're supporting it - driving your opposition to the fringes, then silencing it.

This board is a microcosm of that - you harassed and abused everyone who disagreed with you, to the point where they felt they had to escape you.  And now you're going to report the site they escaped to as a terrorist organization and have it shut down.  This is what you want.  It's what your party wants.  Restriction of the freedom to oppose you.

So you got your wish.  Good luck with that.  Remember, the Committee for Public Safety ate its own, and ultimately came for Robespierre.

Followed?  Are you functionally ######ed?  I left months before you drove everyone else out of here.

What are you actually afraid of though? How is your life being affected? What specifically makes you afraid and makes you feel like you have to fight? Give me an example? It seems to be all this fear is imaginary. All these bad things are going to happen in the future if you don't fight. The "Left" might raise your taxes a few dollars. That's about it.

As an adult I've been through 3 President's. My life hasn't changed much, for better or worse. I go to work at the same job I had when Bush was President. The only difference today is there are a group of people that seem to be afraid. They fear for their lives and freedom. That's mostly middle aged white people. What happened? Why are they afraid? You speak of being silenced. Silenced how? What is your message? Who is hurting you?

This is real easy  Democrats are afraid of Donald Trump.  He's one shady ass dude who will do anything to get what he wants, including lie, cheat, and steal.  He turned the Republican party into mini versions of himself, but still terrified of him.

Republicans are spurred on by the real fake news media that tells them Democrats are basically sub-humans who will destroy all the good that our forefathers have done.

See now I don't believe that. I think he's an entertainer. He thought he was putting on a show. He fed into all the conspiracies out there. Trump was the biggest test to Democracy we've seen in our lifetime simply by his message. It wasn't really anything he did though, it was his deviciveness. What did he really do policy wise to threaten democracy? Nothing. Our system is strong. Not even someone as divisive as Trump could break it.

Easy answer is stop watching opinion news. Turn it off. Both sides should really follow that advice. If you're listening or watching so-called political pundits daily just turn it off.

Politics is all about stoking fear. With social media the ability to stoke fear became easier and more widespread. Our system is strong and will withstand any domestic attempt to destroy it either by Democrats or Republicans.

They aren't interested in unity.

Find one....one so called liberal here to first of all, define that, and second challenge them to say the following:

"I 100% want Biden to reach across the aisle and work with the GOP and if he refuses and shows zero good faith (eliminates the filibuster, no clear compromise shown) I'll call it out."

You won't get one person on the left to say that out loud.

Not.  One.

If Biden eliminates the legislative filibuster I'll call him out.  It would be far more damaging than anything Trump ever did.  They'll have to get most of their legislative agenda's done through reconciliation because there's little incentive to work across the aisle out of fear of being primaried.

Exactly the left does not care if you are a democrat, if you are doing something wrong we will call you out.

The Right on the other hand will blindly keep going with something even if they don't agree b.c they only care about the side they are on.

The Trump supporters are gonna be in for a rude awakening once Trump leaves office. He used them for their votes and their support, now that they aren’t in his tax bracket and he’s no longer a politician what use does he have for them?

No more rallies, no more Twitter and no more Facebook .......Trump will go back to business as usual making money while his supporters will be left with their MAGA hats and Trump 2020 flags

I don’t think all Trump supporters are racist.....I think some support Republicans regardless of who it is. I do think a good 90% of his supporters are racist and only supported him because they saw him as the new face of racism and white supremacy. Just take a look at these message boards, other message boards, Facebook, twitter etc...  the racist are so comfortable now exposing themselves over the past 4 years because Trump brought it out of them. Why were people waving Trump 2020 flags at BLM protesters during a protest about racial inequality and police brutality against minorities? What did a flag about re-electing Trump have to do with anything? It’s because those Trump flags and those MAGA hats are things that throw white supremacy in the faces of minorities by the Trump supporters.

The Capitol Stormers - generally NOT the best and the brightest, and definitely not the winners of the world. Trump complained that he didn't like the optics because the looked "low class." Let's take a look at what we know so far:

- The woman who got shot. https://www.shethepeople.tv/news/ashli-babbit-was-deep-into-conspiracy-theories-like-qanon-experts/ (I'm including non-paywall links, but there's plenty more from the NYT, WSJ, WashPost, etc.). She and her husband are Air Force vets with about 14 years in. Her military career was distinguished mostly by her being a loudmouth who liked to complain. She became obsessed with QAnon conspiracy theories. Despite all the benefits accorded vets, she apparently had no interested in working for somebody else anymore. I used to do hiring for a federal agency, and believe me, it's awfully hard to not hire a vet for a job. I'm not talking about dead end Amazon warehouse jobs. These are often clerical jobs that in a city like San Diego top out at about $80,000. She and her husband could easily have been making a combined $160,000 a year within 5 years or so, and the military time counts toward federal retirement. The median family salary in America is about $60,000. She also could have taken advantage of higher education programs for vets. In other words, lots and lots of opportunities out there. A lot of people complain about affirmative action, but the only real affirmative action program is for veterans, and even more so for disabled vets, with a very relaxed standard for who qualifies as having a service related disability. Despite all that, she apparently didn't want to work for somebody else anymore so she started a pool maintenance business. (There's also great small business loan programs for veterans.) She would up defaulting on about $70,000 of loan payments. 35 years old, made basically zero progress in establishing a career. Yet all to ready to blame someone else for her failures.

- The woman trampled to death. https://www.shethepeople.tv/news/rosanne-boyland-capitol-hill-attack-qanon-trump/  A recovering drug addict, also obsessed with QAnon crap. No indication that she had any particular education, skills, or talents, or that she tried to do anything to improve her prospects. I guess it's China's fault?

- The guy reported as having died after he tasered himself in the, umm, "Rotundas." https://wbhm.org/feature/2021/one-alabamian-dies-during-siege-at-u-s-capitol/

55 years old, seemed to have been living a perfectly middle class life as a kind of Dunder-Mifflin salesman type. There's really nothing in his bio that would suggest that the U.S. government had somehow frustrated any greater talent to emerge. Yet harbored a ton of anger over something. His family says he went as a peaceful protester, but his social media included things like, "you think the riots were bad over the summer ... you ain't seen sh!te yet."

- Another "medical event" death. https://6abc.com/benjamin-phillips-4-dead-at-us-capitol-ashli-babbit-shot-woman/9448265/  Tried to start a social media site called "Trumparoo." (Who needs Twitter?) Actually has a computer science degree, but other than starting Trumparoo and other silly websites it's not clear how he used it.

Many of those who stormed the Capitol will also find themselves left with criminal records (including felonies) and jail time.

Those self-serving Congressmen who still did Trump's will after the Capitol was cleared and Congress resumed certifying Biden's win are facing calls for their resignations ... and more importantly, corporate donations are rapidly drying up.   Does anybody with even half a brain really think that the Traitor In Chief will share his half billion dollar slush fund with them once he's out of office????

All of the people I've been personally acquainted with who embrace radical right wing causes and/or conspiracies are white, middle class conservatives who have a sense of entitlement, never take responsibility for their own (or their families) mistakes, and always blame somebody else whenever things don't go the way they want them to go.   They always have a list of grievances against people they perceive to have somehow thwarted their aspirations.

The four individuals you outline seem to fit that mold as well.

That's the tough part there were also many evangelicals that equated Trump to some kind of righteous saint.

All while he is openly hostile, petty, vindictive, attacking women for being "ugly", paying off porn stars, cozying up to murderous dictators...

It boggles the mind.

I have a few in my own family that lived in that virtual world created by right-wing Fox News, YouTube channels, and Twitter feeds.

My own sister sends me the most stupidest tripe that I debunk over and over....and they all start out, "MUST SHARE, liberals and deep state resources are caught ....blah blah". And like an obedient troll bot she just circulates that crap around her nut job echo chamber of contacts.

She finally got tired of me providing her with the facts and shedding light on the dubious rumor sources that she mercifully took me out of her feed contacts.

Capitol stormer Ashli (sic) who was shot was let of a “throuple” with her husband and another woman. The other woman claims to be shocked to find out that Ashli harbored such beliefs even though Ashli proudly flew the QAnon flag (literally) alongside the US flag and posted that Biden is a pedo.
Maybe it’s time to ask what the hell has gone wrong with our military, which produces a disproportionate number of these crazies?

The woman on the left are people suffering from TDS.

On the right are Americans that love their country.  Maybe Trump supporters. Secure.  Don't care really because they're clearly American.  Probably God fearing.  Steadfast.  Reasonable.  They believe the country is great.  I feel like they do all the time.

I want to be like them.   Not her.  I won't be destroying any Starbucks in DC next week.  I won't be tweeting #NotMyPresident for the 18 months Biden is in office.

We're the watchdogs now.  Every single gross misstep, mismanagement, and misguided policy will be called out.  Won't take too long.

We're Trumpism Supporters.

The alternative is a Uniparty path to control.

Carry on with your Trump imposed lockdown.
