Any word on Johnson?

We just signed pitts to PS.   Does that mean Johnson injury is more serious than it looked?

I don’t think so.  Jaquan Johnson was declared out early last week and he’s a special teamer.  Pitts is good on special teams.  Seems to make sense to me

Got it.  Thanks.

Welcome.

Should add, don't expect any updates or info on Taron this week other than "he's in the protocol", and possibly a glimpse from media during practice.

The average time in concussion protocol is 10 days, so with a short week going into Denver I would expect Taron to miss the Denver game.

How many concussions is that for Taron Johnson? At some point, that starts getting really concerning long term.

Dunno, but they’re all concerning...even one. As long as these guys have played, I expect that many have had a few in HS and then a few more in college and all that occur in the NFL are added on to those. Scary.

Not just concussions but injuries in general.  He’s a smaller player who throws his body around the field.  Injuries have always been a concern

OK I'll say it..  Can't have too many DB's...

I'm still scarred from the playoff game last year when we had Isiah Mckenzie playing DB because of a sudden rash of DB injuries that started the week before in a meaningless game against the Jets.

Denver's record notwithstanding, they're a better team than they're given credit for....I hope the Bills don't allow a peek ahead to New England distract them from a Denver Defense that isn't terrible and Drew Lock, who with his weapons has options. Do I think the Bills will win? If they maintain focus - yes. But, don't chalk it up like it's a gimme. They'll need to fight for it.

Taron Johnson would be a big loss, but given Buffalo's next two games and the increasing opportunity for playoffs, T. Johnson's health down the stretch is even more important. If safe is to keep him out, just do it and make it work with other personnel.

I believe after 3 you are at elevated risk to future concussions. It also depends on the severity of the concussion. I’ve had a minor one from someone’s knee hitting me in the head in flag football. I couldn’t Remember simple names that I should know and the brain fog is scary as hell. I didn’t feel back to normal for at least 2 weeks.

Good notes, agree.

Be interesting if they want to use Dane in the nickle.  I think Dane has already been called up 2x, so that would necessitate a roster move.

Dane played nickle well at Pitt, he's very versatile.  Although costing a roster spot might be tough, especially with Smoke possibly due back this week

Do you really think the Bills are looking ahead?

Yes, I know they are only human and it's easy to do such things. I just think that McDermott has this team focused, and they are going with the one game at a time approach.

Yeah, Norman was playing here and there throughout the game. Probably didn't notice him cause all the DBs played really well.

And have him cover KJ Hamler this week??  Hahahahaha!!  I’d rather go with Neal.  He has true speed

You are giving KJ Hamler way too much respect.  Also, if a slot guy goes deep, he is handed off to the safety in zone coverage.

Neal also did not look good yesterday.  I had hopes for him, but any time he had to play this year, he has looked lost.  He should have stayed at Safety.

Speed at DB is much less of an issue as a slot guy.  That is why you see guys shift inside as they get older.  Norman is a very good run tackler, which is important as a slot CB.

I agree with run support aspect of a slot corner.

I also think that if hamler is being guarded by Norman, it’s a complete mismatch and we will pay for it if he doesn’t have help over top.  Hamler is more than fast. He is twitchy fast and can get in and out of breaks in a way that Norman will likely just fall down.  Norman might be a better matchup for Fant.  Personally, I hope we bring Dane Jackson up and he plays the slot

Stop with this Hamler nonsense.  You are acting like he is Hill.  One game don't make a man

You think he’s incapable of getting behind our D if Josh Norman is guarding him.  What does one game have to do with anything.  He’s a talented WR that has been either dinged up or had a terrible qb throwing him passes in the majority of his game,  It’s just a short sighted way to look at this situation.  While I may be overvaluing him in your eyes, the reality of Hamler vs Norman = Norman will get beat unless he has help.  Are we going to give him help all game?  Our slot corner usually plays 100% of our snaps.

would you rather have Norman than Dane Jackson?

See defensive snaps thread.  Not only did Norman play, he played a LOT.  More than half the defensive snaps at CB.

Wasn't just "here and there".  Platooned with Levi Wallace and played 56% of the defensive snaps.  Frazier talked a bit about it in his presser today.

Goodnews: Norman didn't make an impact in a bad way.  We didn't have any plays where we were "damn Norman got whupped".

Bad? news: the pass breakups and the picks and the tackles all belonged to the Levi Wallace side of the platoon.

? news because we don't know whether that's because Norman's coverage was so tight Big Ben didn't test him, whereas maybe Levi has a rep for "someone I can pick on"
