Middle of the Bills D

Is terrible.  This is several weeks in a row now where they've gotten gashed in the middle of the line.  Edmunds is consistently out of position or gets blown off the play.  What a disappointment.  Would he be better outside and get a more traditional run stopping linebacker in the middle?  Also, where the heck was Star all day?  They need help if they're going to contend for anything because Miami and Philly gave every remaining opponent a very simple plan on how to beat the 2019 Bills, and it's run up the middle until your RBs puke.

I'll tell you what i think and its probably going to get me flamed...Frazier is whats wrong..he constantly has our lbers drop too far from the los allowing for wide open cut backs in the middle of the field once the rb gets past the front 4...his soft approach to the cover 2 also drops our safeties back into two deep looks with no run support help....Frazier plays scared and his whole philosophy of play safe and then tighten in scoring range is flawed...it allows teams with good olines and running game to dictate the flow of the game and gasses our defense.

We have two 1 Tech run stuffers who can't stop the run.

We have a MLB who lives in the wrong gap and when he is in the right gap gets knocked back 5 yards with contact.

And Micah Hyde had probably his worst game as a Bill.

Meanwhile the pass rush on Wentz's first 20 dropbacks had 9 pressures, 3 hurries and a sack. Yes the pass rush tired as the game went on they were on the field too much. The first half and a bit Lawson, Phillips and Oliver were causing Wentz to throw out of rhythm.

And that is just the defense. I will get to the offense later.

Our middle D was horrible again. Star is a waste. Our rookie DT is undersized however with a quality space eater next to him he could do a lot of damage penetrating. We don't seem to have a quality space eater. Tremain's reverted to his old ways and was guessing wrong a lot of the time. That coupled with a lack of a pass rush left our 3rd down defense exposed. This team is a lot of work to do because the blueprint on how to beat us is pretty well laid bare. We cannot rely on our offense to do much.

Once game tape is available I would be interested to see which DT was the liability in run game, major concern now for the defense if they can’t play run downs

Well Peko was ***** useless. Star was taken out of the play and yes, Oliver did not hold up great. But a lot of those long run lead drives Oliver wasn't even out there. This was not a good week for you to die on the Star hill.

We’ll see. I have a feeling you’re going to be surprised. I was only watching DT today

Peko is not the answer. I’d like to get a look at Big Vinny on the practice squad. Supposedly his strength is against the run. Hated the the Peko call up at the time and I hate it now.

If Peko is still here next week I would be surprised. Nice story. Nice guy. Bad football player.

We have seen. It was ugly. Go watch the Sanders run. He runs right where Star has come from.

To be honest I'd trade for a run stuffing MLB. I am done with Edmunds at that spot.

I haven’t been quick to throw in with the Star is awful crowd, but the dude has been invisible this year. Except when he’s being guided away from the play. I’m not real sure about the earlier games (wasn’t paying attention), but the guy has been pretty awful at least the last two games.

Edmunds can play so much better than he has last 2 weeks

And we need more DT talent across the board. Every time I see a guy penetrating and taking himself out of the play I want to scream. That’s not what McD wants out of that position at all

That's been true all along. I know the Bills website has been gaslighting the fanbase about Allen and Edmunds because we gave up so much to get them, but the sad truth is that neither of them is very good. Oliver has been a disappointment and I see no upward trend with him. He has been invisible all year. Jordan Phillips is the ONLY DT on this team that is playing well at all. Murphy is awful too.

I really think Beane is the biggest problem at OBD. For all the accolades he got in the offseason, the fact remains that he hasn't drafted well at all. His FA signings aren't all that impressive either.

This is just 1 loss, but we've had such an easy schedule and have struggled to beat poor teams. The Eagles exposed us as a very beatable team today.

This really is the issue.  On casual observation, it seemed like every drive, Edmunds got caught in the wrong gap (or willingly charged into the wrong gap) several times.  Like he single handedly kept several drives alive for Philly.  I hope he gets a game ball from them, along with Dabol

Worse yet, now the rest of our opponents have a really simple roadmap:  run the ball up the middle against the charmin soft middle of our D.  I hate it because it makes for an unwatchable game.  Opponents will hold the ball for 40 minutes, rush for 200+ yards, and the D will be completely winded by halftime.  I'm pretty disappointed in Allen too.  We got all the crappy play we've come to expect over the first 3 quarters, with none of the heroball of the 4th.

Edmunds isnt used in that way by frazier...frazier is misusing talent and its sooo frustrating to see...frazier is asking his lbers to drop back into soft zones 8 to 10 yards downfield...like wtf
