Favorite Bills Podcasts

Hey all,

I was curious what your favorite Buffalo Bills podcasts were, and wondering what's out there that I may be missing.

To start I'll share my own favorites which are:

The Nick and Nolan Show

Part of the array of Buffalo Rumblings podcasts, they have some truly awesome shows. Bruce Nolan's thinks in ways I never do, and he and Nick always try to offer something different than every other podcast that is out there. I really liked the episode breaking down Special Teams (it's what hooked me). There's a lot of other variety in the Buffalo Rumblings Podcasts (link below), so I'm sure there's something for everyone. Oh, and Bruce's writings on BR are worth a read.

Buffalo Rumblings Podcasts (including the Nick and Nolan show)

Locked On Bills

Joe Marino for Locked On has a new podcast for each weekday, which fits in nicely with a morning commute (Nick and Nolan are frequent guests). He comes up with plenty of material to fill the offseason void

The Buffalo Beat (formerly The Bills Beat)

Joe Buscaglia and Matthew Fairburn have some good discussions. Tim Graham sometimes stops by. It can get a little silly sometimes, but most of the time it's pretty good. Full disclosure, some of their episodes are only available via The Athletic app (paywall).

The Buffalo Beat - Stitcher

Cover 1 Buffalo

It's hosted by Nate Geary, Aaron Quinn, and Greg Tompsett are pretty good. The website has some good articles, but I imagine the really good stuff is behind a paywall. Erik Turner owns Cover1.net and also does film analysis for The Athletic.

NOTE: I'm able to find all of these on Google Podcasts except for the Athletic only podcasts as noted above.

So who do you guys listen to?

I typically listen to 2

Locked on Bills is good work by Marino ... has a lot of energy on all segments and virtually daily content

Joe B and Matthew Fairburn on the Buffalo Beat is another .. though not as much energy style wise as Marino .. more dry delivery  .. and the awards they do (Come on Darlene, etc.) are kind of weak

But given week 1 .. I also pulled in Buffalo Rumblings was surprised .. as it seemed to have some very poor production/sound this past week .. sounded like was on 2 cups and a string in terms of audio.

My favorite listen is Joe Marino's Locked On Bills Podcast. You can tell how much he puts into each episode, he isn't a homer, and he covers all aspects of the team.

Second place? www.numbbillsfan.com. Dave is unorthodox and hilarious, and when he really gets going, he throws out some gems!

Another unorthodox Bills podcast would be The Rockpile Report...Drew gets going as well...

Thanks for the Locked on Bills recommendation. Listening to it for the first time, and I like how it is straight forward without the fluff. Some podcasts just get lost with insignificant crap.

Another great example of Joe not majoring in the minor was Locked on Bills Monday pod discussing the win over the Jets.

I'll have to check out Locked on Bills... Not technically a podcast but Hashtag Sports on YouTube is pretty entertaining. I ran into one of the hosts at a training camp practice this year. Super nice guy. He told me they started the YouTube show as an excuse to get out of the house. They are also doing play by play of the games this season.

That's a fantastic watch.

Erik Turner is fantastic at blocking people who disagree with him

Joe Marino

Locked on Bills

is absolutely top notch

hes a fan but not like John murphy

he is quite knowledgeable and always a good listen

Agreed.

Good blend of Joe’s NFL insights plus his ongoing college draft work  makes it unique IMHO.

I thought todays’ #twitterTuesday (listener questions) was especially good.

I like his show a lot and listen daily but the single best Bills podcast is the Nick and Nolan show on Wednesday’s at Buffalo Rumblings. Bruce Nolan knows his stuff. Marino actually had him on as a guest last week.

It can can easily get lost in the shuffle of all the subpar/crap pods from Rumblings but it’s really good.

They had an excellent pod today that was different than there normal in season stuff. It did a fairly deep dive into analytics. It was fantastic though not Bills specific.

Off the beaten path (i.e. fan run not "I'm going to explain how the football works" let's dissect this play Spider XY Banana)

-Maybe Next Year (MNY?)

-Bills and Beers

-The Rockpile Report

They are all "fun/fan introspection (listed in order of increasing levels of alcohol-induced raging and ranting)

More technical, (i.e. you might learn something or another perspective on why things happen)

-The Bills Wire Daily Podcast

-The Bills Beat

-Buffalo Rumblings (Nick & Nolan and/or Blitzed Bills)

-Locked On Bills

-Cover 1 | Buffalo

In (my opinion) order of least to most technical insight. Not necessarily the order of most technical "correctness" because much is still based on subjectivity, but increasing levels of  "technical" explanation of why certain things happened.

If anyone is looking for a 57th Bills/Sabres Podcast to listen to we have started one that's more fun than technical, you can check it out on Spreaker, iTunes, & Spotify by searching wittyNOTfunny Sports

Just 2 guys who probably think we are funnier than we actually are trying to break the cycle of our lives by talking some sports.  We focus on Bills and Sabres but occasionally delve into all sports, for example we will have an NBA preview up next week.  If you don't like it thats cool we appreciate you giving it a try but if you do, even a little bit, follow us on twitter and leave us some kind words.  We would greatly appreciate the feedback since we are new to this whole medium and trying to build our following and reach.

Locked on Bills for me... fits in  nicely on the morning commute and Joe Marino gets straight into the content without any filler.  All credit to him for his 5 days a week service.

Also enjoy The Buffalo Beat as a once per week podcast.

Podcasts like these allow the far away fan feel closer to what's going on with Bills and they are much appreciated.  Long may they last.

Joe Marino is very good.  I do not know if these are "1 take podcasts" but his delivery is smooth and his voice and cadence are strong.  A very easy listen, full of info.  He has been a frequent guest on WGR and he presents well there too.  His background with the Draft Network helps fill offseason content and gives plenty of insight to the Bills happenings during the season.  Every time he has on the Locked On podcasters for the Bills weekly opponents he way outshines them.  I think he has the voice and knowledge to do much more with his career if so chooses.

The Cover1 "All 22" breakdowns are great and provide way more depth to certain plays within a particular game than what is available anywhere else.  The content that Greg and Aaron typically generate is good as well.  More back and forth, fan based opinions on Bills topics that really set a standard for weekly discussion.  Their opinions are generated from a solid base of Bills/NFL knowledge that is borderline nerdy because it seems to be more their hobby than anything else.
