My coffee maker, and many others, have both the pot and a single cup option.  Mine uses a reusable filter for the single cup.  Just don't spend $40/50 on it, got to get one that is around the $100 mark at the minimum for it to work pretty well consistently.

I litterally can't tell the difference. The Ethiopian to me has always been kinda gross. Gotta load it up with sugar and cream to make it tolerable. It has a more bitter taste than the others.

That coffee pot, aside from the plastic/glass "Knob" at the top, looks like every coffee pot in every cowboy movie ever made.

 

It's the one sitting on top of the camp fire.  Gotta have your coffee when you are on a long ride.

 

On a somewhat related note, has anyone ever noticed how in cowboy movies you will often see a cowboy on a long ride, somewhere in the desert or very arid environment....he's been riding for hours.....all sweaty, dusty, and worn out....comes into some tiny town....heads straight into the tavern and orders "whisky."

 

I always found that kind of funny.  If I was dehydrated and sweating my ass off in 90+ ambient temps, I'm not sure the first thing I'd think of would be to throw back a shot of whisky, but I'm not a cowboy.

Tastes differ.  Grind some of your favorite coffee, put it in the pod and you have a nice cup of coffee.  For those who don't need more than a cup or two it's a nice alternative.

I'm sure if I had two cups of coffee to sample I wouldn't be able to tell which was Don's and which was Joe's. But if you spread out two pounds of coffee beans in front of me I could identify who roasted which pound. My favorite is the Flores.

I am a dark coffee fan.  For years, I bought Hannaford brand dark roast coffee (k-cups).  They cost $5-$6/dozen.

 

Lately, however, I've been getting Café Bustelo coffee, which I think is delicious (I drink it black, no sugar) and it costs $10/18 cups at Walmart.  It's my new go-to.

Caffe D'Arte is what we drink, they are a local roaster in Seattle but sell on Amazon as well.  Meaning of life drip blend.

For those of you interested in single serve, I bought a Saeco coffee machine when it was on sale at Costco.

 

It is great. You use whole beans, you choose what kine of coffee you want and it grinds the beans and infuses the water from a water reservoir.  It also produces that natural crema that you would get if you went to a fancy coffee shop.  You can use whatever brand of coffee you like.

 

 

Side note:

Someone earlier mentioned that his wife was concerned about plastic waste with the K cup.  There is none of that with the K cup and you are not wedded to any particular brand of coffee.

My wife is a coffe snob. It’s usually just us two so we usually use a very similar goose neck kettle for pour overs.  Also have the larger chemex when there’s more than just us. I only started drinking coffee about 2 years ago when our son was born but it didn’t take me long to graduate from “I’ll drink any ole gas station coffee” to total snob. I really feel like there’s a huge difference. We just got back from a week at Disney and brought our own coffee from local place here in Cbus along with our kettle and travel pour overs. It was worth the hassle.

Got my order from Peet’s a couple days ago, and the Italian roast has been incredible.  Just what I was looking for.  I also bought a little “pour over” set up that actually makes a much better cup of coffee than my expensive drip machine.  The coffee fills up the house with an amazing aroma every morning when I make a pot.  

 

$25 is a little pricey for a couple pounds of coffee, but this is totally worth it.  I’m thinking about joining one of their clubs to have the stuff delivered regularly.  Thanks to everyone for the advice!

If you have a Costco around you, they may sell Peet's for a much lower price. Maybe not the Italian roast...but our Costco had 4 types of Peet's yesterday when I picked up a 2 1/4 lb bag of "Alma de la Tierra" for $15. Brewed some up this morning. Excellent cup of Joe.

Edit: Turns out there is a Costco up in Colchester which is just north of Burlington.  My son has a hockey game up in Burlington next weekend.  I’m going to check it out.  Thanks for the tip!

We rarely buy coffee by the cup.  Usually just brew a pot in the AM and maybe half in the afternoon.  It’s more expensive, but worth it.  To me it’s like spending extra $ for good marijuana ?

Gevalia has never turned in a bad product, no matter the type. As far as national type brands, that’s a can’t miss. Incredibly smooth not bitter finish. Signature blend is my fav but they also make a good Colombian and French roast for darker blends. Cheers!

my lifestyle is basically hermitage in a cave of an apartment or dress up and spend 14 hours in an office tour

 

the expenditure diffs for these roles is exponential, i wonder if i could honestly reduce spending bigtime while at work.... but you kind of have to....

 

i will take your word on "other substances"...  it's gotten even more big-brother up here after some kind of legalization became effective.

If there is a World Market (or Cost Plus World Market) their house coffees are great deals. As good as Starbucks to me, for half the price. It's always $9.99 for 24 ounces and quite often on sale for less. All different kinds, too. French Roast is very consistent and good, and I'm a coffee snob. I think you can buy it online, too.

Just picked up some Counter Culture Coffee - Big Trouble.  It's so good that it inspired me find this thread and post about it.  Loving it.

 

Other recent tries:

Teasia Coffee - Ethiopia Yirgacheffe: to me, this kind of smells and taste like tea.  Unique for sure.  Not a daily drinker, but i make some like once a week.

 

Jamaican Blue Mountain - got some 100% authentic (or so they claim), non-blend.  It's good, no doubt, but it didn't blow me away or anything.  I wouldn't buy myself, but getting as a gift is nice.  I prefer the Counter Culture Coffee one over it.

That’s because when she buys the coffee, it tastes like s***.  You buy the good stuff because when you drink it, you want to taste it.  But this ain’t about the coffee in Off The Wall.  It’s about the replacement Rosen in Arizona.

 

(Look for a Sumatran, and grind your own beans.)
