You heard it here first. We have young blood with great coaching. NE is too old & dysfunctional. NYJ are tearing it down. Miami? Yeah no idea...

It's more than confidence. This team will shock the nation.

Cool story bro

IKR? Training camp hasn’t begun. No idea who our QB will be. Offenive line has massive question marks. WR Corps is a huge unknown. I love the OP’s optimism but I dont see us winning more than 7.

You know me I always say 19-0 when the prediction threads start and watch every game thinking we have a chance because I'm full of Kool Aid, but I think 7 is a tall order. Go Bills!

Ridiculous thread. At least 6 new starters on offense and 5 on defense.

Dont Do Drugs.

Or maybe start doing them.

Does this qualify as the yearly " Pats are done " thread ?....I believe it is the 10th edition...It started in 2008 when Brady got hurt for the year...........Before then, they won 3 SBs, and 6 division Championships....Since '08, the won 2 SBs and 9 division crowns.....

At this point, who knows...Odds are if Brady plays, they'll win it again....He just won MVP last year, so I don't see where the optimism about him " showing his age " comes from...He is still playing at a elite level...

Can we also add up all his strengths and predict he’s gonna overcome some of his weaknesses and make some insanely athletic plays on occasion? Plays that others without his combination of size and athleticism simply can’t make?

Yes, QBs are going to take advantage of his inexperience, but he’s going to show them a thing or two of his own.

People forget he has a former pro bowl father and two brothers in the NFL, one of which combined with tre set an nfl record. First pair of siblings ever in the 1st Rd. I'm thinking he's ahead of the curve.

This team is a year away from winning the division. The dead cap money and trade-ups for Allen and Edumonds compromised the ability to put resources into certain areas of the roster (O-Line and WR in particular.) That's not to say that those weren't good long-term moves but rather that the team competing in 2018 on that level (winning the division) isn't likely because of those factors.

And yet, one day it will come to pass. Not sure I'll be alive to see it, but it's coming. My fervent wish is that it happens because they finally are just plain bad, not because marsha and bellyboy retire or injuries mount up. Just plain suckitude. I want them all on board the cheatriot train when it runs off the rails.

Oh, yeah, one day.

My guess is it'll be when Brady retires or is injured. Won't be that long, is my guess. But outside of a serious Brady injury, this is highly unlikely to be the year.

Point is, it doesn't matter what lessons you've learned; there's absolutely NO reason to pee on someone else's Cheerios if they choose to remain optimistic heading into the season. What's the point of that, anyway? Is it simply to begrudge someone their optimism in the absence of any of  your own; to insist that others must wallow in pessimism because you choose to? It's no skin off your back one way or the other, so why?

Fair enough ....

... as long as nobody with a positive outlook will pee on my Wheaties with their positive opinions. You folks will keep totally silent when anyone say something realistic, won't you?

No?

Well, then expect disagreement from the realists. This is a discussion board.

This team made the playoffs last season. Furthermore, what was the Eagles outlook this time last year? How about the 01 Patriots who started 0-2 and lost their $ 100 million dollarman?

One thing those two teams had in common ... their new young quarterbacks were both in their SECOND years, not their rookies seasons. That's pretty huge.

Discussion is one thing, being a prick because you can’t tolerate someone’s optimism is a dick move. Every. Time.

As much as others are probably tearing you apart--I haven't read a single post--yeah, I could see this being the year.

Sounds like there's trouble brewing in Paradise and the Bills are on the upswing, making the playoffs last year.

I actually expect double digit wins and playoffs from the Bills this year. We'll see what happens with turmoil in New England, but this might be the year.

If Brady shows his age this year,  I think we can win the division.   We need a ton of suprises, but we could get some WR's to step-up, we have a LOT of WR's with that potential (Dupree, Zay Jones, Streeter, McCloud, Prhol, etc.  Perhaps even Clay, who says he feels better than ever).  I think the O-line will be okay, just lacking in depth.

To the bolded portion, I respectfully disagree. In fact, I think I could argue that except for Dawkins, they don't have that stand-alone incredible talent but have depth in terms of width of talent. Wyatt will probably not start this year, but otherwise, Bodine was a 4 year starter albeit pedestrian in terms of numbers, Newhouse can be a real find if they move him along the line, Mills was much improved in the 2nd half of the year as Joe B. pointed out, Groy - well you know - Miller could see a resurgence due to change in Offensive scheme and Badoll and Ducasse (again pointed out by Joe B.) did a much better job in the 2nd half of the year than perceived by fans. But what you don't see is Joe Thomas / Travis Fredericks/ Jake Matthews / Jason Kelce type of talent. So, IMHO, depth is much better than it's been for a few years, but I don't know that there's that true incredibly gifted talent on the O-line. So, much will determine (more so than usual I suppose) how they play together as a unit. Can they help each other pick up the stunts and blitz packages? That kind of thing...

I think they get 10+ wins, not sure we'll take the division but I expect playoffs again. I feel we upgraded every position group besides OL. Even WR, we have a much better group than we had going into last year, with KB being fully healthy, giving us a legit #1... TE is the same, other than that I feel we upgraded every other position group and will improve on last year

The Eagles had/have talent on both sides of the ball including a solid WR corps and one of the best, if not the best, OLs in the league plus they had a starting QB with a solid year's experience and an innovative, offensive minded coaching staff.

How do the Bills compare to that?  Very poorly.  They are one of the least talented teams in the NFL.  They do not have an NFL caliber OL or WR corps.  Their QBs have fewer than 10 NFL starts among the three of them, and their "blue chip" rookie's claim to fame is simply his arm strength.  More importantly, not only does the Bills HC coach bear a depressing similarity to Dick Jauron in his coaching philosophy --  playing not to lose -- but he and the GM apparently believe attitude and hard work and buying into the coach's "process" trumps talent.

Only in an alternative universe where fantasy becomes reality can the Bills win the division ... or even come close to winning half their games.  In, this team will come closer to getting the #1 draft pick than making the playoffs.

very interesting take, and good points.   No real pro-bowl players for sure.   Perhaps the depth is better?!  I think Gory, Dawkins, Bodine, Mills, and improved Miller will be a formidable 5, with Newhouse and/or Teller potentially starting.   But as you said, the key is how well they play together.  We also have Connor McDermitt, who I think will be a surprise.  He was ranked high out of college.

Any word on Henderson's availability?

It’s not outlandish.  I think people are underestimating the defense - that unit can carry us to some close wins while the offense develops.

Still, the Pats have to be the faves at this point.  Let’s see how the old man holds up as the season progresses.

I totally forgot about McDermott!! And agree, its possible he was a real "find"....as for Henderson, he is no longer with the team. He signed elsewhere, but I can't recall where he went.

division and a playoff win and Shady is Payton Humanitarian of the Year

Bills beat Pats in Foxboro for AFC title. Brady gets the Pats to the 10 yard line. A sack and fumble recovery ends NE's hopes with 40 seconds left.

Then a SB win over the favored Eagles. Game is tied at 32. 1:05 left. Bills start at their 35 yard line. Allen throws a 20 yard pass to Zay Jones. 5 yard run by McCoy. Then, a 30 yard bomb to Watkins. Hauschka kicks the game winning fg with ten seconds left. Eagles are tackled in bounds on the return. Dildo's & chicken wings fly from the crowd. Allen is SB MVP. Bills then give a ring to Jim Kelly , Marv Levy, Norwood, & Thurman Thomas.
