Mock Draft Simulator

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I have been an avid reader on here and just made a username to start joining in conversations.  I found this draft simulator that I thought people might find fun to mess around with.

https://www.walkthemock.com/

Here is what I got for my mock from this site.

Pick Player Pos College
1:12 Tremaine Edmunds LB Virginia Tech
1:22 Vita Vea NT Washington
2:21 Dante Pettis WR Washington
2:23 Mason Rudolph QB Oklahoma St.
3:1 Rashaad Penny RB San Diego St.
3:32 Jamarco Jones OT Ohio St.
4:21 Christian Campbell CB Penn St.
5:29 Christian Sam LB Arizona St.
6:13 Kalen Ballage RB

Arizona St.

I think If the draft fell like this I would be pretty happy.  Would still prefer to get mayfield or rosen though.

Welcome to the conversation!

I really can’t see Edmunds or Vea falling to 12 and 22 respectively.  That being said, I don’t think the Bills would bypass QB at 12 and 22.  Someone would likely trade ahead of us for Rudolph in rd 2 if we hadn’t already taken a QB. I like the rest of the draft, especially the 3rd picks.  I’d puke if we took Ballage though.  Not a fan of that guy in the least.

Honestly I agree with you about almost all of it I just took what was available to me through the simulator.  I have watched Ballage and I think he would be worth a flyer with our last pick.  Just my opinion though.

Welcome.

I hadn't tried this simulator, but this is what I came up with (no trade version). At 12 I had two QBs, and a couple of top 10 DBs on the board. At 22 there was two stud linebackers - Evans and Vanderder - and Guice was the 6th overall talent in the draft. We still get Malik in the 2nd, a stud defensive lineman in Phillips, Ragnow was a gift at the top of the third.

Best part of the system is it's incredibly fast.

Pick Player Pos College
1:12 Baker Mayfield QB Oklahoma
1:22 Derrius Guice RB LSU
2:21 Harrison Phillips DE Stanford
2:23 Malik Jefferson LB Texas
3:1 Frank Ragnow C Arkansas
3:32 DaeSean Hamilton WR Penn St.
4:21 Shaquem Griffin LB UCF
5:29 Kameron Kelly CB San Diego St.
6:13 Scott Quessenberry G UCLA

Here are the insane computer generated picks ahead of us ... so you have to wonder what sort of AI is powering these choices.

Pick Team Player Pos College
1:1 CLE Sam Darnold QB USC
1:2 NYG Connor Williams OT Texas
1:3 NYJ Roquan Smith LB Georgia
1:4 CLE Maurice Hurst DT Michigan
1:5 DEN Josh Rosen QB UCLA
1:6 IND Joshua Jackson CB Iowa
1:7 TB Minkah Fitzpatrick FS Alabama
1:8 CHI Saquon Barkley RB Penn St.
1:9 SF Calvin Ridley WR Alabama
1:10 OAK Denzel Ward CB Ohio St.
1:11 MIA Bradley Chubb EDGE NC St.

Yeah ... but if you run that simulator a couple of times, it has like the Browns taking a CB #1 overall - and not even one of the top CBs. Terrible AI powering the choices.

Are we sure we want to trade up?  Just tried it again, and if it tells anything, it's that this draft is deep.  If we keep the picks, they can add some top talent.

I hope that is the case but its not a popular thought on TBD.  IMO dont trade down, and dont over reach and move up and sell the farm........unless something we cant refuse falls our way......sit tight and chill. Even looking at some of the examples on this thread, look at who we might get.

I will predict tho that the Pats and Niners are not done just yet.  BB and the Pats are like a bank or insurance company.....there is never a transaction they dont win. Pats move up again.....bank on it.

Hey gang. I like to see where some of my traffic comes from and found this thread and saw this comment. Wanted to let you all know the fb and twitter accounts are new from about a month ago. Decided to get a social presence started. Appreciate you all giving the simulator a try.

As for the mocks and some of the picks you guys find questionable. I have been tweaking some of the settings because a number of folks who frequent the site were growing tired of roughly the same players being gone each time. The changes were an effort to make different scenarios for you frequent drafters. Probably still needs some tweaking, but the selections are still primarily based on needs and value.

Thanks again for using the site. Good luck this draft season!

cool !!! thanks for clarifying. Beers on me for your simulator, as you acknowledge still needs some tweaking, but one of the advantages of AI might be you remove feelings and add some ¨randomness¨ to a draft, which, imho, at the end it compensates (?) what goes on in the ¨uniqueness¨ of each draft board and human reactions of decision makers, the day of the  real event. :beer:this bud  is for you... the day to day programmer!

My most recent Fanspeak mock draft (no trades allowed)

Rankings: Bleacher Report - Matt Miller (considered among the best on mock sites)

Needs: Fanspeak - pretty accurate, updates often

Difficulty level - Difficult

12: R1P12
QB BAKER MAYFIELD (6.03)                    No brainer here, can't believe he fell. Got a top 3-4 QB without selling the farm
OKLAHOMA
22: R1P22
LB LEIGHTON VANDER ESCH (6.25)      QB for the defense. A total McBeane type player, the most Luke Kuechly/ Brian Urlacher MLB in this draft and a stud in the middle for 10 years.
BOISE STATE
53: R2P21
OT JAMARCO JONES (5.8)                        LT for Buckeyes. Gives flexibility to slide Dawkins to RT where he was drafted for. Pair of bookend tackles set for AJ and Baker Mayfield.
OHIO STATE
56: R2P24
WR JAMES WASHINGTON (5.76)             Complete WR to pair with Benjamin. One of Mason Rudolph's go to weapons. Passed on DJ Chark, tough choice, sub Chark here if you want
OKLAHOMA STATE                                     speed, though Washington excelled at long plays.
65: R3P1
DL TAVEN BRYAN (6.35)                             The guy who fell out of the top two rounds. Rebuilding the D front 7 in earnest. Grades higher than Hurst, Phillips and Settle on NFL.com by a
FLORIDA                                                         mile. Gets to learn from Kyle Williams for a year.
96: R3P32
LB JOSEY JEWELL (5.57)                           Continue building to McDermott's strength. Potential ST captain, depth and competition at MLB, could have gone interior O-line here....
IOWA
121: R4P21
RB BO SCARBROUGH (5.5)                        Example of quality RBs that can be found in rounds 4-7. Youth in RB room, one cut freight train. Comes from a winning program.
ALABAMA
166: R5P29
LB FRED WARNER (5.64)                             True OLB, productive cover LB. Can compete to start right away in  weak LB room. 6'3 227, could give TEs a problem.
BRIGHAM YOUNG
187: R6P13
CB ISAAC YIADOM (5.64)                           With the better C/G drafted and most other holes addressed went with BPA at corner. 6'1, 190, 4.52 speed. Adds depth to CB room.
BOSTON COLLEGE

In review, maybe I would have passed on Josey Jewell at ILB at end of round 3. Could have pulled the trigger on an interior lineman to help rebuild the O-line for AJ and Mayfield. Other than that very very happy with this draft. Could have gone DJ Chark over Washington, and maybe waited on a RB, though something tells me Scarborugh will be a very very good short yardage NFL back.

If nothing else I think this helps show how deep this draft can be. It looks like one of the deeper drafts in recent history. There is a value to staying put and letting a draft fall to you, while addressing needs.

If I had gone DJ Chark at WR at the Bills third pick, NDIrish and I had the same first three picks in two completely different mocks.

Second take, similar results. Mayfield as the QB of the future. Vander Esch as the QB of the defense. Went for the size and speed of Chark in round 2, Interior OL instead of LB in round 3, took a 4-3 DL later, CB higher, Warner to the Bills at rd 5 and ended with Roc Thomas to add youth at RB. I would love this draft.

12: R1P12
QB BAKER MAYFIELD
OKLAHOMA
22: R1P22
LB LEIGHTON VANDER ESCH
BOISE STATE
53: R2P21
OT JAMARCO JONES
OHIO STATE
56: R2P24
WR D.J. CHARK
LSU
65: R3P1
C FRANK RAGNOW
ARKANSAS
96: R3P32
DL B.J. HILL

121: R4P21

Ok, this is easily the most absurd Fanspeak draft, but when Rosen dropped and there were also players from the Chubb/Barkley/Nelson camp available, figured I'd see about trading the 22 without the 12 to get to 7, and had to give up next year's first, but didn''t give up much else. However, all those top players of course went off the board between 8 and 11, so I started trading down, and once I had a lot of capital, could trade at will when I wanted someone, and afford to pick up droppers with issues like combine disaster Brown and injured Street, or load up on receivers. Kelly has a high ceiling and Breeland Speaks finally came on at the end of his college career with six sacks in his last six games. Josh Rosen and Bo Scarbrough could bond over shared dislike of a certain fellow, while having already taken a (probably) record 15 picks, can bring over Star's bro for the hell of it. If I could do over, I'd take White or Logan Whiteside later just because.

I mentioned something above about attempting to provide more scenarios because folks last year were wanting more variety. I just changed the settings to forgo that thought process and the automation should be a lot more tighter now. Give it another try (or don't).
