JaCrispy
Patriots don’t have a guy with a strong arm, and they seem to do ok in windy conditions. That whole narrative has got to be one of the most ridiculous I have ever heard- just like we need to be a running team because of the conditions....I mean, when is it ever THAT windy during a game in Buffalo? Once a year, if that?

Brianmoorman4jesus
The only way I’ll be more pissed, then if we don’t move up..is if we DO move up and take this guy. No to Allen. No more drafting QBs that are still learning the basics. It’s to late once they get to this level. Let another team figure that out for a change. No to Allen. No at 2, no at 12. Just no period. Green Lightning
Rex Ryan is a buffoon. Why in the world would anybody listen to him. As for Brady he does not have a cannon, but he can make all the throws and he's accurate. And in that offense that's all you need.

He has made his living in the 5 to 15 yard range with a quick release and accurate throws.

benderbender
I believe Rex’s quotes were that to trade up would be putting their best foot forward, and that you can't just stick your toe in the water. And that Allen has good feet.

And that's a great picture on the site :). So then we've established he's inaccurate in windy conditions. So, since you suggested I "try again", I looked further into this... Allen's accuracy when playing on the road: 58% http://www.espn.com/college-football/player/splits/_/id/3918298/josh-allen Laramie's wind conditions vs. Norman's wind conditions: https://weatherspark.com/y/3574/Average-Weather-in-Laramie-Wyoming-United-States-Year-Round https://weatherspark.com/y/8229/Average-Weather-in-Norman-Oklahoma-United-States-Year-Round Laramie's windier, but not by that much...Louisville and Los Angeles are much less (I'd say obviously, but I did not realize how windy Wyoming was, so research was definitely vital). Buffalo actually lands between Norman and Los Angeles, wind-wise. I will admit that I feel a bit dumb on the whole wind in Wyoming. However, looking into it has made me more resistant to the idea of Josh Allen. If he dropped and we took him while also able to draft a bunch of other players, then I'm all for his potential, but trading up to 2 as Ryan suggests and giving up on a bunch of draft picks, particularly considering last year we might have hit on a starting cornerback 1 and a starting left tackle (and the book is still out, borderline miraculously, on Zay Jones) on the picks in the 22-65 range, is questionable. I'd like the four chances to draft potential starters to help him if we take a guy who most experts label an ultimate boom-or-bust guy as Allen. For the record, Tyrod Taylor had a 62% completion pct in Buffalo last year. http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/splits/_/id/14163/tyrod-taylor Edited March 31, 2018 by thurst44

Having spent time in Wyoming, I can assure you that Laramie and Cheyenne are both very windy at times. How windy a place is should be factored into a completion % as part of the equation along with type of offense, quality of targets to throw to, etc. Not sure what the weighting should be, but it should be a piece of the pie. I'm not saying Allen would have been a 65% passer in SoCal, but we'll never know. I also don't think it wise to sell the farm and move up to #2 to take any of the top 4 rated QBs, including Allen. However, if Allen were to get by Denver @ #5, the Bills should take a chance on him as I think he'd be a great fit in Buff. He will need a year or maybe even two to get comfortable and that's OK with A.J. in the house. I still have Darnold @ 1, Rosen @ 2, Mayfield @ 3, Barkley @ 4, and Allen @ 5 in my mock.

starrymessenger
I would not move up to draft Allen. I would seriously consider drafting him at #12 (though he'll be gone by then) but only if the other four (Lamar is #2 after Rosen on my list) are already off the board. He is a great prospect but 100% a project. I don't put too much stock in his 56% completion percentage. This is impacted by the offence he ran and the types of throws he was asked to make. Also I've seen him make very accurate big time throws as well as demonstrating good touch on occasion. So he is capable of doing what he needs to do imo insofar as improving his technique and throwing mechanics. That is not where the biggest risk is. Pocket presence and decision making when under pressure are the main questions in my view. If he can improve in these areas, he could easily develop into a high end QB but it probably takes very good coaching and a year or two behind a solid veteran starter just to find out if he can get there. Absolutely ideal physical attributes for playing the position tho, no doubt about that. God made Allen in his spare time on the seventh day, a Sunday. I thought it was one of the pre-draft knocks on Brady that he didn't have a strong arm. There's that "geek bod" combine pick and the "Lacks a really strong arm, Can’t drive the ball downfield, Does not throw a really tight spiral" evaluation. Brady worked hard after he was drafted and improved his arm strength considerably, but I don't think anyone ever thought he had a cannon.
