What did Fitz say about Whaley at the roast?

I was listening to the first hour of Howard and Jeremy this morning.  Jeremy mentioned that he had watched the roast and that Fitz apparently isn't a fan of Whaley and roasted him a bit.  If anyone could share what was said, I and I'm sure others would like to know.

I fully agree with Fitz.  When it was the 4rth quarter and Bills needed a TD, it was Whaley telling Fitz to throw a pick!

Damn you Whaley, Damn you!

At least one of Fitz's comments was about how Whaley's release of Freddy went down. I think he called him "spineless" or something like that. It was about Whaley/FJ, that's it.

Wow, that's pretty intense to make because it is clearly coming from a personal and hesrtfelt place..

There were too many good jokes to recount, but here's some highlights:

Eric Wood comes into the room during his intro, gets a standing ovation. Fitz gets introduced, about 1/3 of the room stands to applaud his arrival. He goes up to the podium and says something to the effect of, 'What, do I have to break my neck to get a standing ovation?'

Aaron Williams was pretty lit up when they started, was shitfaced by the end. He kept taking potshots at everyone (even when it wasn't his time at the podium), it was great.

Apparently Williams and Bryan Scott once played 2-on-2 baseball with Freddy and his son at Freddy's house. Williams and Scott kicked their asses and celebrated like they won the world series. Freddy's son was 4 at the time. Kid refuses to play baseball to this day.

Freddy's twin brother Patrick gave a great speech. Went on about having to watch the "Fred treatment" (being treated like royalty) his entire life. Talked about Freddy calling him at 3:00 pm on a weekday in the offseason to whine about being bored and that he was thinking about taking his kids to Disneyland. Patrick works for a living... he was not impressed: 'mother!@#$er, don't you !@#$ing call me at 3:00 to !@#$ing tell me you're !@#$ing bored and thinking about going to Disneyland!' Freddy was voted best looking man at Coe college, while his identical twin brother did not receive a vote "we have the same !@#$ing face!" It was pointed out that Patrick's future wife was attending Coe college at the time (and didn't vote for him).

Fitz had props. He mocked Eric Wood's retirement speech, referencing that it was approved by his agents and the PA not to include the word "retirement" so he could get his injury guarantee. He wore a wig for it. He then stripped down to his Bills Zubaz underwear, dressed up like Freddy, and gave a retirement speech as Jackson. Called Whaley a "spineless  [p]ussy", to much applause.

Freddy had a great story about Wood bending over at the line to snap the ball during practice, and ripping a nasty fart. Fitz audibled to a shotgun snap. Chan was not happy. He talked about having jerseys of his favorite teammates, including Terrence McGee, on his wall at home. Every one of the jerseys was given and signed by the player, except one. McGee made him buy a jersey online.

Keep Fitz

Move up in the third round

draft Russell Wilson (a guy many of us liked in the third or fourth round) instead of taking Graham

Wilson replaces Fitz towards the end of 2012

...it would have been so easy.

Would we get the same Wilson of today?  I don't know and I don't care, the same way I didn't care in analyzing us NOT getting Big Ben in the draft..

We just plain would have been better...in both instances.

No rocket science involved.

Sounds like he captured the essence of a roast.  It's cruel in a joking way but with some truth in there that gives that - oh my God did he just say that?

No rocket science, but plenty of hindsight...

It's not hindsight for many. I was one of the most vocal to keeping Fitzpatrick

I really like Wilson because he was a five-year starter. I had a few quarterbacks that I wanted that year but we would have been better off keeping Fitzgerald and drafting about any quarterback

I truly thought at the time that when we moved up we were getting Wilson.  I would not have taken him in the second round, but I thought he was good for the third...worried he would be gone in the fourth.

I won't deny hindsight, but I also won't deny that even back then I am unfamiliar with any planet other than this one that would draft Graham over Wilson.

Losman over Rothelisburger (with the opportunity)

For those matters, Whitner over Ngata...I was visiting my friend in CT (a board member here) during that draft and we were just stunned when Ngata wasn't the pick.  I don't think we spoke for about 30 seconds.

Fitz has the greatest job in world history. He gets paid millions to perform a job he can't do.

Whaley got paid too, but those days are long gone. :(

It is such a wonder that Frik and Frak have not found jobs in some front offices with such insight.

Whaley reached the pinnacle of his profession. There is zero need for him to take a scouting job or pro personnel job

i doubt he'll work in the NFL again but he did interview for a GM position since he was fired

I was STUNNED too when Whitner was the pick.  I remember exactly where I was packing up my Aunts house after she passed away.  Had the draft on and literally walked over to in front of the TV to watch what I thought was a LOCK of Ngata and my mouth dropped when they took Whitner.

Admittedly after my shock and disgust on passing on Ngata, I knew we also needed a Safety so talked myself into thinking it was gonna be a good pick.  I personally didn't hold Whitners draft slot against him once he became a Bill like many here did, and thought he was still a pretty solid pick in terms of his career.  But it still never made up for not taking Ngata who was both the best choice at the time and had the much better career.  Just a dumb move...its not like Whitner was a bust, but still Ngata was by far the right pick and everyone knew it but the Bills.

And yeah, same with Wilson, thought for sure he was the pick when the trade came in.  Couldn't believe my eyes and ears when they announced the real pick.  Was so pissed off that it wasn't Wilson who I was actually willing to take in the 2nd round that year just to insure we got him as I wanted him.  Felt he was a late 2nd to early 3rd guy, so was willing to take him sooner since he was a QB with a lot of upside.

.....Wiffner and McCargone instead of Ngata and Mangold......pretty painful memories 'Dawg.....and I remember the draftniks'  knock against Ngata was "tends to take plays off".......prolly meant when the D was on the sidelines......OBD strikes again.........
