Started watching the prime series with James May from Top Gear.  6 episodes of him touring Japan from north to south.  Doesn't sound very interesting, but James May has a very entertaining delivery and it's a very fun watch.  I think it's called "Our Man in Japan" or something like that

I mentioned this a little while back when it came out

Its entertaining and you can learn some stuff watching it too.

Amazon has asked the Grand Tour hosts to branch off and do their own shows too. This was Mays, I hope he does some other ones too

Clarkson has a show where he is filmed running a farm he recently purchased

Hammond had one about giant engineering things I believe, and is working on another one with former Mythbuster Tori where they are stranded on an island together for a while.

I believe they may have filmed a bunch of it recently.

My son and I watched, "The Package," - a Netflix original movie - last night.

Effin' hilarious!!!!!

This movie is pretty dumb and cheesy, but damn there were some really funny parts.  I literally laughed out loud 4 or 5 different times.  Definitely second this recommendation, and you’ll know within the first 20 minutes if it’s your cup of tea or not.

I'm actually enjoying Westworld season 3 more than I did season 2. Turned itself into a totally different series, which is why I think I'm liking it. Only watched the first couple episodes, though.

Also finally started Ozark. Only 4 episodes in but really liking it. I understand the Breaking Bad comparisons, but I like the situation with Jason Bateman's character better as he stumbles into his life of crime because it's not voluntary like it was for Walter White, which makes it a bit more tragic and almost believable at the start.

The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez should be watched by everyone simply to Honor his legacy.  I'm halfway through and I'm really sad that in the aughts and beyond this is still happening.

I see your point but the trailer scared me away.  It looks tremendously sad.

It's bad, but not that bad.  The subject matter is horrific and a number of pictures are gut wrenching, but as a society I think we owe it to that little boy to try and make sure nothing like that ever ever ever ever.....happens again

That stuff happens all the time just for some reason this kid was picked.

Wifey and I watched that several weeks back. A definite must-see.

We are currently watching The Keepers on Netflix. It is about investigating the unsolved murder of a nun decades ago.

Netflix -> The Platform

Very well done twisted/gory/thriller type movie. The ending will leave you with a ton of questions though that you need to use own own imagination or wish for part 2 to come out.

Solid watch in these Quarantine days.

Warning = This movie 100% is not for the weakhearted.

Watched season one of Ricky Gervais' "After Life". I thought it was excellent.  Very well done.  Season 2 starts Friday so I picked a good time to binge S1.

Also want to mention Silicon Valley and Veep.  Both excellent shows.

Yeah, agree on Sillicon Valley, its pretty good, wanted to watch Veep

I finished watching Kidding w/ Jim Carrey, thought it was pretty good too with a few odd moments....

A season and a half into The Last Kingdom (season 4 to be released at the end of April) and it's excellent.  Definitely binge worthy to this point.

Season 6 of Bosch to follow.  Unfortunately, Season 7 will be the last...

Dude?!  What the hell did I just watch?  Holy hell....I’m not going to be able to eat for 3 days.  Jeebus!

...and the ending sucked IMO.  It was an okay movie, but definitely not for the faint of heart as you stated.

Right? it's just different and had me thinking about it for a couple days after. I think that alone made this movie unique to me as I've never seen anything like it. I agree the ending was not the greatest but still worth a watch as everything during and between was pretty wild to say the least.

Snowpiercer on Netflix is another Action sci-fi fantasy oddball movie of Earth survivors during the 2nd ice age living on a train. This was another decent movie for these quarantine days and worth a watch if bored.

This one is not nearly and gory or twisted though but has its moments for sure.

It wasn’t bad.  The concept was interesting.  It was just sloppily executed, IMO.  The ending didn’t help.  In any event, it was worth a watch I guess.

It certainly wasn’t John Wick, but it was anything but boring.  You didn’t enjoy the face pooping?!  I thought that was your thing ??

I just thought it was broadly predictable even if specifics like face pooping weren't.  There wasn't a lot of nuance.  The dubbing wasn't too bad but didn't help.

Ozark season 3 dropped last night if it hasn't already been mentioned.

The cast of characters is truly something to behold.

I loved Ozark and Bosch.  Anything else like those anyone can recommend?

I thought Bosch was almost perfect and then they played Knopfler at the end and I realized there was no almost involved.

My plan is to get settled and binge the entire second season and time it so it finishes as the draft starts tomorrow night.

  • 4 weeks later...

Watched the movie Hostiles on Netflix.  Starring Christian Bale.  Kind of a dark and certainly violent movie.  Was pretty solid though.  Civil war officer (Bale) is tasked with escorting an imprisoned Cheyenne Indian Chief who is dying back to his home land in Montana.  I thought very good acting, cinematography, and storyline.  Again, some very violent parts though.

What happened to this thread?

Wife and I just watched Upload on Amazon Prime and really liked it.

There are a few more series on Amazon Prime I'm thinking about trying. If you've seen them, what are your thoughts?

Electric Dreams

Tales From the Loop

Sneaky Pete

Catastrophe

The Tick

I am watching 'Man in the High Castle' right now, on the 3rd season and its not bad

Also watching the HBO Show 'Barry' (Kind of a 'Bill De la Tour Dautrieve' double bill) and the latest season of Curb

When those are done I think I may start Veep and Space Force

Barry is one of my favorite shows.

I wish the 3rd season would come out already!

Echo in the Canyon, a documentary hosted by Jakob Dylan, about the rock scene in LA in mid-1960s on Netflix, is worth a look-see.  Good commentary by David Crosby, Tom Petty, Ringo Starr and others.  The sound track is very good too.

I got half way through it, and even though Robbie Amell who is the male lead is HOT! HOT! HOT! (oh, and just so we are clear, he is smokin' hot), it missed for me.

I saw they ordered a season 2 so I may go back and finish once that is ready for viewing, depending on reviews. ?‍♂️

Did you like The Good Place? Or watch it?

Upload was nowhere near as good and not even in the ballpark as funny, but it was reminiscent of that show (and Black Mirror) in some ways. It was a little melodramatic at some points but overall I liked it.

I was dying laughing when his head blew up in the first episode.

My wife wants funny in her TV shows, and even though she liked Breaking Bad (which she had to stop watching towards the end because she was getting stressed out) and loves Better Call Saul, she's usually watching reruns of Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond and Two and a Half Men and is happy. We both love The Good Place and still have to watch the rest of the season. We've watched the first season and a half of the show Catastrophe and both really liked it for most of the first season but started in a weird place in the 2nd season and I'm wondering now if it's just aiming for vulgarity for vulgarity's sake.

I'm actually envious you're just going to start that show.

Hope it's your kind of humor

I found it to be funny at first but highly formulaic.  The jokes worked at first but after a few episodes it was really repetitive.  I'm not surprised some people would like it but I am surprised someone one would grade it so highly.

And this is why comedy is the most difficult thing to recommend to anyone.

I think The Good Place is one of the funniest and smartest shows on TV.

I belly laughed constantly during that show.

Oscar Wilde once said "taste is indefensible." I think that's especially true for comedy.

I'll go ahead and recommend "Hinterland" on Netflix.  It is a British police drama.  Some may see it as a slower moving European Bosch.  There are more differences than similarities but it is well written with a lot of tension.  Not a lot of action and it's understated but the stories are very good.  Give it a chance.

I watched the first episode yesterday.  Solid Meh.

I may watch the second episode to see if they do anything that is actually funny.
