Jeremy Maclin (Agrees to 2 year deal with Ravens)

Recommended Posts

His athletic measurables either met or surpassed the top TE in this year's draft......just saying. Probably not the blocker but as a receiving TE opens up all kinds of possibilities.

Denver used their TEs

....a real sore spot for me John through the years has been the opposition looking at "3rd and 20" as "3rd and short" versus Bflo......and sure enough, we'd get smoked in the seam by the TE.....QB spot is THE #1 most neglected since Kelly era and TE spot ranked a close 2nd........Mackey, Gonzo, Witten, Gates, Gronk, etc all tell me there SHOULD be some value and "love" paid to the position (COUGH)....paging Robert Royal........

I almost said something similar because it's getting old.

To take it a step further, "a 201 yard a game passer" on pass attempts a game. The fewest in the league at 29.06. The league average for pass attempts per game is 35.73. If you apply the average number of pass attempts all of a sudden he's a "247 yard a game passer" and we aren't having this stupid conversation.

If you want to say "that's not good enough" I'm cool with that. I'm just over the contextless, simpleton application of stats. It's getting tiresome hearing "the guy that threw it 35 times had more passing yards than the guy that through 29."

It's the same thing with the Watkins argument. What does he do when the ball comes his way? Nobody is stupid enough to look at total yards and say whether a guy is good or bad. Why bother using that to try to justify their point? Cameron Meredith had more yards a game than Dez Bryant and Deandre Hopkins last year so now he's better I guess.

Rex wanted to lead the NFL in rushing. You can't expect to have a potent passing offense when you run the ball as much as the Bills did under Rex.

Something else that nobody who constantly criticize Tyrod's passing yards ever brings up - the Bills were dead last in the NFL in yards after a catch, which are added in to a QBs passing yard stats.

Which is why passing yards are not just a QB stat. They are an entire offense stat.

IMO Greg Roman's offense was not designed well for YAC. San Fran was near the bottom of the NFL in YAC in all 4 of his years there (with 2 different QBs, one of which, Alex smith, now has KC near the top of the NFL in YAC (I think around 10th IIRC)) and that continued with the Bills.

(Again, IMO) Passing yards are a terrible way to evaluate/judge a QB anyway. It has no real correlation to winning. There's a reason why passing yards are considered by many professionals to be one of the last stats you look at when evaluating a QB.

Now, I'm not saying that our passing game doesn't need to improve. It does. But I don't think that all the blame can be laid at Tyrod's feet. Not by a long shot.

Ketchup.

GMO Catsup at that

I talk to Bills fans off this board and no one expects much from that pick. Chiefs are 41 and 20 when ALEX SMITH starts. If he gets injured an even more talented QB plays. They are coached by a brilliant coach. They have smart ownership and a GM from the Green Bay tree. This is how to run an NFL team,

The Bills are run by the Pegullibles. They are up there for most incompetent ownership groups.

have you met Irsay?

He eats his steak well done with ketchup. He is definitely a fries with mayo type of monster.

The Horror

I was being a tad factitious..

In the spirit of this thread, you're doing it exactly right.

This is a good point too often ignored or unknown. TT certainly demonstrated some shortcomings over the past few seasons. But his stats were largely the product of an inferior passing scheme.

Zay Jones isn't worried. Injury? "That's football." Maclin? "To learn from him...would be a dream come true for me." http://bit.ly/2sc3dTP

As most teams have 3 WRs getting serious snaps bringing in maclin is great for him. Still gets playing time but way less pressure and more favorable matchups

Chop up some jalapenos and/or add red pepper flakes for some kick! One of my favorite apps.

Good post. I'm sorry, but our new Resident Crusader won't be responding for a while..

#Jeffismagicintimeout

Is it safe to unblock him for a week or two? I kid. Thanks for watching out for this board C81!

In an attempt to re-rail the thread, let's say Maclin becomes a Bill. With 23* FB's on the roster and a steep WR price paid for 2nd Rounder Zay Jones, what will the offense look like? I've read where Dennison/McD like 2 TE's as well.

At this early stage, it seems we'll give away our intent just by the personnel groupings in the game at the time.. Mac, Sammy & Zay? 6DB's. 2TE's & a FB? 5 DB's and run stuffer MLB. 2 WR's, 1 TE & a FB & RB? Base D.

No?

Oh, thats right. This thread wasnt about the wash guy in the bathroom in the 300 level...Thanks for bringing it back around my good man.

I just made Vichyssoise a la Ritz as an appetizer, I going to follow it up with steak au poivre.

Steak au poivre is a favorite. I'll be having just some gazpacho tonight as we had a huge treat with a large (and rare) Indian lunch. I've been advised by an expert (an Indian friend) that I should be fine for a good 8 hours, but "popping a couple rolls of toilet tissue into the freezer tonight might make tomorrow better for you".

I got a Webber charcoal grill last summer and I don't think I'll ever use a gas grill again.

You are clearly not as lazy as I am.

But I will not disagree about which is better. :)

(At least since those hot dogs in college that tasted like lighter fluid, but that was another time....)

Hey, anyone know if the Bills are looking at any available WR's?

As a housewarming gift, my in laws got me a propane grill. I used it, because it waa convenient but last memorial day I needed to take out my old weber tailgate grill. The smell of that smoke and what it did to the food was amazing.

Jeremy Maclin already made two free agent visits, and obvious interest comes with his resume. Where will he sign? https://www.profootballrumors.com/2017/06/where-will-jeremy-maclin-sign

Jeremy Maclin makes this team a lot better. Really hope he signs and both Mac and Sammy stay healthy.

Zay is perfect for the slot. Tyrod may show improvements through a system that suits him. It will certainly piss off a few around here with alternate agendas. I hope Tyrod is it, we'd go into next years draft looking so pretty.

Tomorrow: Spicy wings made with Korean gochujang sauce instead of Franks!

Was that just a scrabble pretend word? :) I challenge! Haha

I had a cooking class/lunch Today my wife bought it at a St Jude auction. She often oversells my skills. Today it was proven that she's over-selling! There were some people in a professional kitchen acting like professional chefs. There were 7 groups doing everything from cocktails to dessert. One guy in my group was upset he didn't bring his own knives, but the house chefs told the owner (a Chopped judge) she had to go see this guys Julienne cuts on a green apple for an apple slaw. Joey killed it! I enjoy it and want to learn, but..... wow.
