Bills vs Packers 2014

Recommended Posts

In Buffalo fans opinions do you guys think the Bills outplayed GB that day or was it the Bills defense that totally won the game? I rewatched a lot of the 2014 season and the Bills really came to play and the Packers might have read their own press clippings. Still doesn't take away from the fact that the Bills totally shut down the Packers offense and their special teams made a few big plays. What do you Bills fans think? Stephen Gilmore was a total beast that day.

I think the defense lead the way, but we did outplay them. I think it's still the worst game Rodgers has played in his career. We also swept the NFC North, which was fun for someone living in Chicago.

This was the game that made me feel like we were on the threshold of being a playoff caliber team. Whoops.

Bolded = we don't need our former 1st rd pick though by many here?

If I recall there was a HUGE uncharacteristic drop by Jordy Nelson for a sure score. We had a outstanding rush D on Rodgers all day.

One of the best games ive ever been to. When we strip-sacked Rogers at the end, you couldn't help but think that we were playoff bound.

That was my thought too. Ended up being a roller coaster year: beating teams that were better than us, and losing to teams that were worse than us.

We just came off a 43-37 win over the Falcons that previous Monday night. We had a 31-7 halftime lead and almost blew it. You guys remember watching that game at all? I almost think after the first half of that game we didnt play well or blew our load tell the last game of the year against the Lions.

For the most part yes. The defense was killing it at that time. The offense with Orton at QB was flat. Maybe they were reading their own press clippings from the week before win. IIRC that might have been Denver.

I feel like they had an off day and we hit the big plays we needed. Thigpens punt return TD and Jordy's wide open drop was a 14 point swing right there. If I remember correctly, we had the majority of the calls or no calls go or way also. Gilmore got away with a few blatant holds on 3rd down if I remember that right.

Both. Bills offense was awful. There were the few game changers like the Jordy drop, and Thigpen PR and obviously the Mario strip/safety at the end but Gilmore also dropped a pick 6. Just one of those games. I also think McCarthy went away from the run too soon. Lacy was having success on the ground when Schwartz was rotating the front 4 but he didn't stick with it. Bills were a very average and inconsistent team that year which led to the egg laid the following week vs the crap Raiders. A game essentially won by Andre Holmes beating Corey Graham on a contested catch, actually. And here we are, minus Graham and plus Holmes.

The defense was brilliant against the Packers.... the Bills were rolling..... remember we went to Oakland the next week, got the ball marched down to go up 7-0 and I thought "this is it... this is it the drought is over" we sucked the rest of that Oakland game. So sad.

We finished 12-4 that year. I actually thought we were the best team in football but we lost to Seattle in a heartbreaker. Still a very tough loss to swallow today. I believe we could have beaten the Patriots in the superbowl. This last year Atlanta was the much better team then us though.

How could we play the Falcons and the Packers in the same year? Different divisions.

Random post haha. But little bit of both. I think the bills defence came to play, but from what i remember that game, A rod and his receivers were off rhythm big time. They usually make those back shoulder throws in their sleep, and I remember them really struggling doing that against the bills

That game was a huuuuge relief for me. I work in a place where there are several Packers fans, and only one Bills fan. I had to give a presentation to everyone later that week, so my Powerpoint slides all used photos from the game as the background.

It was a solid game from the defense for certain, and that was the difference, I think. But even then, it still took a Jordy drop and a last-minute defensive strip-sack to save the win. Our offense was unwatchable then.

Yea the Jordy drop was a break. I remember a lot of people when Rodgers got the ball inside his 5 with the game on the line were saying in the shoutbox "watch they will march 95 yards and win" and I was saying "no way... our defense is going to make a play" I think I even called a Mario sack for a safety. That's how hot the D was that day.

Yeah but GIlmore also dropped an easy pick six. It was a wash.

I remember that game because my brother is a big time Pack fan.

The one thing I remember is how well the defense played....but we were one Jordy Nelson drop away from losing.

Should have been a blowout if the offense was any good.

I think Jordy's drop killed them. He probably would have outrun Aaron Williams and gone to the house, and that would have changed the game.

The Gilmore dropped pick 6 made that a wash.

There are times when people say......"he should've intercepted that, it would have been 6" when it was actually a tough grab............but the ball Gilmore dropped.......sheesh, that was literally as certain of a pick 6 as you can have that far from the goal line.

That's how I feel as well, the drop was the game changer.

That being said it is easily the best game I have been too.

Our defense was on another level that day, between their physicality and tenacity, the team seemed like it was on a mission.

I remember we picked up Rambo that week and he ends up making two interceptions, once which he jumped beautifully.

Rodgers telegraphed that. He had the easy TD.

Look at poor Nelson up top..haha

It's weird though, I thought only Tyrod missed guys running down the field completely wide open.

Eh, you could say the same for All-Pro Bacarri Rambo that day too.

Any Packer fans at the game?

It was actually loaded with Packers fans. I would say maybe 40% of the stadium was yellow.

I was surprised (disappointed) at the overall conduct from the Packers faithful, I would have expected better. Can't recall specifics but I just remember being surprised.

You mean they weren't too nice? I'm sorry to hear that. Most of us like the Bills in Wisconsin.

I get annoyed when I purchase a chicken breast and come to find out it had been sitting in the hot bar for hours and was dry as granny's ass and yet nobody at the deli bothered to let me know, or at least offer me a discount.

I will write a strongly worded letter....
