T. Jackson forgot his time in buffalo

Recommended Posts

Sounded to me like he was taking a few shots at buffalo saying he doesn't even know why he was brought here and That he doesn't even remember the year that he spent here in buffalo. Stating that "it was a good to be in a situation where he is winning games again and that he's glad that situation in buffalo is over with"

Sounds like the the winning culture in seatlle and the culture here in buffalo are night and day and that he sure as hell he is glad to not be apart of buffalo"s losing ways. Has the culture here in buffalo really changed? According to T. Jax sounds like we have a long way to go.

He was here before this year, correct? So, yes, it had changed since he left, IMO, as much as it can in one year where they went 6-10. People will argue it hasn't, but I feel like it is a different culture from my viewpoint and will continue to improve under the new regime. Edited by YoloinOhio

I'm not surprised, everyone here pretty much said the same thing, they had no idea why he was brought here to not play.

as for anything else about winning and culture, is he not the 3rd string QB for the Seahawks? He is not much more to the team then anyone else sitting in the stands basically so its not like him being there is a big part of them making the Super Bowl

I still have the same questions , why did we waste a draft pick on bringing a player here that they never even activated & then to resign him & tell him he was in the future plans of the team only to cut him  ???

The dude deserves to say more than he has ! & to pay him $2.25 MILLION to sit & not play that has to be tops in the

BRILLIANT BILLS FRONT OFFICE MOVES !!! And we wonder why the Bills are always either talked bad about or not taken serious look no further than moves like that one !!!

Hopefully who ever made that & other decisions in the past are gone !! If we want the team to be taken serious those types of things can't happen !!!

The entire situation with Jackson was a bit bizarre and I do not blame him for having less than fond thoughts of his time here - and I wish him well. With that said, he is now the back up QB on another team in another conference. I don't particularly care what he thinks...

Yeah, they should have taken Ralph's private jet to 2014 and consulted you first.

That lost 7th round pick probably cost us the playoffs.

I'm sure T-Jax's former Bills' teammates appreciate being thought of so fondly.
It's always smart to burn bridges with other NFL Teams when you are a journeyman backup. But then again, he wasn't known for his intelligence from what I recall.

Yup. Just curious...did he also B word and moan that the Bills paid him too much for doing absolutely nothing? Did he offer to return his salary? Congrats to him on lucking into a cushy gig which landed him in the Super Bowl. He's fortunate to even be employed, IMHO.

I think this (another) one of those cases of Bills fans being a little thin skinned....unless he said something really different than what is posted in the article on the front page, he really didn't say anything slamming the city of Buffalo, or his ex "teammates"...not even in the slightest. If he said he wanted to forget his time in Buffalo, who could blame him? You can't blame a guy for seeing things from his own perspective, rather than that of the fans of his estranged team whom, apparently, put his NFL career on hold, for no reason that was beneficial to anyone.

Before you comment that "he still got paid", realize, he very likely would have signed with another team (didn't take Seattle long to bring him back once he was available: released by Bills June 10, re-singed by Seahawks June 13) for something comparable.

Traded from a team a team on the upswing, where he was once a starter, to a team where he was paid to stay away, not practice, and do not able to contribute with his football (as minimal as some seem to think they are). Then, the team turns around, offers him a new contract, and assures him that he is very much a part of their future plans...only to be released a month before training camp.

I like Thaddeus Lewis and all, but who wouldn't have felt better, before Lewis was thrust into action, (or Jeff Tuel for that matter) if Tarvaris Jackson hadn't been the backup for EJ Manuel? Apparently the Bills felt that Kevin Kolb was so outstanding (based on what?) in OTA's that Jackson was expendable, before ever taking a single snap in a Buffalo BIlls uniform, in an actual game, pre-season or otherwise.

you are so full of hyperbole I'm surprised you can fit through the door

The move was extremely puzzling at best.

Cheap vet qb our GM liked and our coach was ok with

Get him in late and coach feels more comfortable with the backup he's used for multiple years

New coaches don't know if FA or draft will bring better qbs and decide to hold onto him cheap.

Really the only extreme puzzle is why cut him so early

Not thin skinned here. I couldn't care less about what he said. As to your first question above, I'd say that obviously the two different coaching staffs here in Buffalo thought he was worthless. I'd wager that Kolb playing "outstanding" in OTA's could more accurately be described by saying he outplayed TJax and the team did the nice thing by letting him go rather than stringing him along like Chan did (for reasons unknown to us). Maybe he couldn't understand Chan or Doug's system and he gets Seattles'. Who knows. As for me, personally, I'd much rather have Thad than TJax. I'm glad we traded for him instead of a guy who couldn't catch on here twice essentially. I also would rather have had Kolb than TJax, as was the plan.

Edit: I really hope he gets to hold for an extra point that gets flubbed and he ends up converting it for two. This thread will take off....I guess I just need something else in my life to fill the giant hole in my heart left by the loss of relevance of the Da'Rick thread.

He was traded to buffalo. So it wasn't really his choice to come sit on the bench.

Then likely told he'd have a shot to compete if he came back.

If that is the case (not sure what they would have based this on), why on earth would they have re-signed him to a contract, if one coaching staff was convinced he couldn't play? Not necessarily saying you are wrong, but that would only give more credence to the notion that this was a pretty big screw up on the Bills part...all I can figure, Jackson was Buddy's guy, and Whaley was thinking he couldn't play.

I will give you the Kolb over TJax thing...though I would have much preferred Jackson to Kolb. Kolb has never impressed me in the slightest.

And, sight unseen, before he ever played a down, you would have rather had the Bills playoff hopes resting in the hands of Thaddeus Lewis than Jackson? Really? Thads' one NFL start in a meaningless "run for the bus" loss the previous year, to Jacksons 34 NFL starts? You must be related, or a big Duke football fan. I really like Lewis, don't get me wrong, but nobody really knew what we had in him, before that first start that he had. The Bills didn't even really know.

How am I being thin skinned? I didn't take offense to anything he said. I agree with him that it was puzzling why they brought him in. I just questioned his comment, "I've erased last year from my mind. I don't remember anything from the Bills." That's a pretty strong comment and I laughed out loud and thought, "I bet his former teammates appreciate that." Nothing more, nothing less.

Btw, why did you put "teammates" in quotes?

I don't blame the guy at all for never getting a chance and have a little bitterness in his heart. What if we had him as our second string this year with Thad as our third and please get rid of the Tool.

I imagine we would have won at least two more games. It was only a couple of years ago he beat the Saints in the playoffs. He's a decent second string QB with skills. Certainly better than the debacle at QB this year. He also would have been a much better teacher to EJ than what was there. They didn't even have a QB coach for a rookie, and a first time OC. That was one of Marrone's biggest mistakes.

Conversely, I like the recent hires for the new QB coach, Hostetler, and Schwartz.

A bit of a stretch here, pssst- It's not always about taking a shot at Buffalo. Sometimes it like the "battered wife syndrome" with some... Just remove the locale and look at the facts...How dare he try to forget about a time where he floated in obscurity and was NOT given a chance to compete against other mediocre QB's. For an organization that hasn't sniffed the post season or been a contender in years.

Fate gave him a reprieve with a familiar situation & it all worked out fine, leave it at that ! He spent more time in Seattle & Minny then he did here anyway. Good luck TJax (even though I'm going with the Bronco's, haha).

To the first part above, only speculation can be made. To me, it's all about the timeline.

February 15 - Re-sign TJax

March 12 - Release Fitz

March 15 - Kolb released by Arizona

March 30 - Sign Kolb

April 25 - Draft Manuel

Shortly after Draft - Sign Tuel

June 10 - Release TJax

I feel that they liked what they had in the others guys they brought in after him more than they liked him after having worked out with each in ota's. And we had cap room, so I'm not worried about what we paid TJAX going to waste. IMO, calling it a big screw up is a big stretch.

To the second part above, I only saw the highlights of his Pittsburgh game. I honestly never heard of him till we traded for him. That being said, I won't lament not having a guy that we had no foreseeable need of until we had a s***storm of injuries in a 2-3 week time frame. I saw a lot of TJax in Minnesota and was concerned with why chan never activated him and so I was OK with taking a flyer on a guy who I knew nothing about instead of the guy who I felt was a good backup who would not get us to the playoffs.

Edit: I think my use of the word worthless was overstated. I do think that they felt the other guys had more worth to the team.

Who of us would complain of making 2.5 million dollars to do nothing but watch football? Reasons unknown to the fans, the coaches did not want to play him. Only insiders know and they might leak info to the press soon to get the Bills players side of this. Interesting in that it gives Bills fans something to talk about on a cold Winter's night.
