Trick Play Tomfoolery

Well, we know a few things about Kansas City Swifties:

1. They like the smell of their own farts

2. They are 1-3 vs the Bills in the last 4 meetings

3. They enjoy running in circles and doing trick plays

As evidenced by the last time we met, these guys thought it would be funny to try and recreate the music city forward lateral the day after the guy who did it passed away. Thanks to Toney being the dork that he is, their “Greatest Play That Didn’t Count” was just that: worthless.

Now they’re coming into hostile territory and they’ll need any advantage they can get. Be it Taylor Swift, one of the Mahomes sideshows, or a trick play, anything is an option. So, how do you prepare for that and do we try to bring a trick play of our own into the mix?

That wasn't a designed trick play.

That was just Kelce freelancing, and doing it brilliantly.

I've read somewhere that Kelce practices that lateral.  Agreed it wasn't a designed play, but it was in his repertoire

I think the answer to your question is that the defense can't quit on any play until they hear the whistle. Everyone has to stick to their man or zone, and they need to get Pat out of rythem.

That play really underscored how it’s a game of inches because Cam Lewis came within a hair of getting his hand on the ball when it left Kelce’s hand. We’ll ever know who would have recovered the loose ball after Lewis deflected it, but Kelce stood a good chance of looking like an idiot instead of being praised for an amazing ad lib.

Kelce thought it was a free play due to defensive offside.  He wouldnt have attempted it otherwise. Toney knew he was getting flagged which is why he was in position for the lateral.  The whole play was a farce.

If Kelce said that, I'm calling him a liar.

There is no way he saw that flag come out from where he was lined up and going into his route.

(play is at about :39)

The fact that Lewis is even looking to play the ball in the first place is a testament to how well he's being coached, imo.

Man, from this angle you can really see how far offside Toney is.

I thought he said that but after searching I only see Mahomes on record saying he thought it was a free play.

Not sure how Mahomes thought that when his back was to the ref throwing the flag the whole time.

It certainly doesn't look like he would have been aware, although the guy does have what is possibly the greatest peripheral vision I've ever seen so it's hard to discount it entirely.

Would love to see the Bills try some trickery.  Possibly on the tush push.  Success rate is dropping

Dawkins has two TD catches..  How about a third?

Refs are my biggest concern,  they can take any home field advantage away in a play or 2

My biggest concern is injuries on defense , Josh will be facing one of the best defenses in the NFL , and Mahomes is going against a practice squad secondary

Its always been so strange to me how much drop off there is between starters and back ups/ bench warmers in the NFL. I dont think this is as apparent in any other sport. You would think that these guys would be chomping on the bit to get in there and show their stuff. I actually thought that Klein did a great job doing this in the Pittsburgh game and even Elam seemed to up his game coming in. My hope for all these backups that have to start is that they have got a lot of first team reps in this week and are ready and motivated to prove something!

Exactly! Allen always goes left, so now would be the perfect time to reveal the biggest trick play in our arsenal - going right!

Well Benford and Rapp been ruled out.

Douglas is def playing, as long as Taron is good, we'll be fine in the secondary.

Just hope Bernard n Dodson are good to go, Dodson I'd say 95% will play, no clue on Benard

In week 14 Andy Reid was confident enough in his team that he put in a play that, what did Tony Romo say it was....a play from Columbia from the 1940's or something.  Seems like quite a dick move to tell the broadcaster of the game that.

Only Andy Reid can get away with that stuff and only because Mahomes changed the narrative of his career.

I hate Andy Reid so much.  I wish the bills would beat the chiefs so bad he decided to hang them up.

Idc that was an insanely heads up play. Josh pulled something like that too and actually succeeded that time. Idk why laterals aren’t used more

He's actually tried it a few times in games previously.

Dr Dawk had a good post with some videos in a thread we had going after the game vs KC earlier this year.

Just run the option wide but line up in tush formation. Pitch it out to Cook or Josh keep it outside.

100% agree or fakes a run and hits Diggs on a fly pattern after he fakes blocking (which should be too hard for him) .

I think all coaches disclose stuff to announcers. The announcers know if they ever leaked anything they would be out of a job or worse yet Vegas may deal with them Godfather style.

The Bills need to be ready for anything Andy Reid will pull out all the stops especially if the Bills start to pull away in any form .

And i pray that the camera's will stay focused on the game & not Taylor Swift . 🙏

I worked for her in 2013 on the Red tour very nice person to work for but this isn't a concert it's football game ! Maybe have her sing a song before but then keep her in raps & of screen until the game is over .

It seems like they always pull a special teams fake punt or punt block every year in the playoffs.

I actually thought about the turn push. Why not move a TE in motion and if they don’t follow him then throw it immediately?
