Believe Eberflus is out if the Bears have 2 picks inside the top 10, which they probably will.

They go a new direction and let the new guy draft his own QB. Possibly Ben Johnson?

A die hard Bears fan told me that he is hoping Belichick gets fired so the Bears can get him. I pointed out his poor GM record and his retort was that it can't be worse than it already is, at least they will have a competent coach for a change. He made his point

Why do the chargers always seem fall short? That team is stacked with talent.. all the others the talent is lacking.

I think the Chargers have almost always been a country club. They haven't had a meat and potatoes coach since Marty.

IMO he would want the Giants job first. He loves that organization still. Imagine if he went to the Chargers, that swifts has the talent but lacks the coaching they be scary good if BB hasn’t lost his coaching skills.

Brandon Staley back in the lead for the favorite?

He's a worse red zone coach than Dorsey. And that's saying something. 4th,and 6 inches and you do a bootleg pass instead of getting the first with a sneak! Herbert is 6'6"

I don’t understand why this keeps coming up about Mark Davis.  Don’t they all get part of the multibillion dollar TV money?  Is he spending too much time in the casinos?

He's spending all his money on the 30 something woman who was next to him at the game. She's gone as soon as he really runs out of money.

Chicago passes over Leslie Frazier to hire Eberflus. Now that we won't benefit from a 3rd round pick, they'll hire Frazier like they should have in the first place.

Frazier will never get another NFL head coaching job.  Chicago will go offense to mentor Caleb.  Fields will be traded to whatever team thinks they can turn him around. No team is passing up Williams with the 1st pick unless he refuses to sign. Chicago has Carolina's pick so either with that pick or their own, they're drafting #1.  In order to assure Williams signs, they'll either go after the hottest assistant available or bring in a big name proven coach possibly through a trade.

I said Eberflus, but Staley deserves the ax too. There have been absolutely no positives in Chicago since Eberflus took over. At the same time, there hasn't been a more underachieving squad than the Chargers since Staley has been HC.

Good poll.  I think all these coaches will be on the hot seat come seasons end.

Eberfluss is the most likely not to make it out of the season.

I think he’s a goner and his GM Ryan Poles should be on the chopping block as well.  He had an opportunity for a complete rebuild and after year 3, and has little to show for it.   He’s also made some goofy moves IMO like devoting a lot of his cap to signing Edmunds and Edwards.

Holding 2 high picks in 2024, the Bears are in a position where they can do the same thing but under a different GM.  A great situation to walk into.

Out of all these teams, San Diego is the most desirable given the QB situation.  Given the lousy job he’s done as GM the past few years, it does make you wonder if he still complete control over roster/drafting as he had in NE

Imo, he will go to a team with a QB having potential or to a team with a top 5 pick where he can get his own.

I said the giants because like I said he has a deep love for that organization, his ego would also make him think he could win with Daniel Jones

What owner would fire a HC mid season that has gone to 9 SB and win 6 in the last 23 years? Now would he be in outages to retire at the end of the season? Yes but definitely not fired half way threw it even if they are 1-7 which they probably will be.

I'm sure that among the 31 billionaires who own all but one NFL team (Green Bay), there's at least one who would do it just because he can.   I'm not familiar with NFL owners.  I know the names of only 5: Terry Pegula, Bob Kraft, Jerry Jones, Mark Davis, and Bob Irsay.

I predicted Stefanski before the season started. I still don't think he makes it to the end of the season. When the 49ers crush the Browns and Purdy outplays the sex offender Cleveland fans are going to go nuclear

Ooops.

  • 2 weeks later...

Raiders post two flops in a row, losing to the lowly bears and can’t find any resemblance of an offense vs the lions tonight.

Giants, Jets, Dolphins loses the next few weeks would put them at 3-8…. Probably not enough to be fired, YET, so my initial 11/20 prediction might not be right.

How would they keep this guy?!

Tom Landry got fired.

That was a long time ago so I don't recall all of the details, but the situation was vastly different.

The Cowboys were under new ownership, and the new owner (Jerry Jones) had no sentimental ties to the existing regime. And he just happened to be a close acquaintance of a guy (Jimmy Johnson) who he wanted as his coach even before making the deal.

In the case of Belichick, the owner and coach have hoisted the Lombardi trophy together and celebrated the dynasty of the early 2000s as part of the same organization. If Kraft sees it as time to rebuild under a new front office and coaching staff, he's almost certainly going to be diplomatic and cognizant of optics and encourage Belichick to gracefully retire.  The only way I see Belichick getting fired is if he was just plain stubborn and refused Kraft's 'offer' or he were caught up in some controversy that necessitated his dismissal.

I suspect Belichick will realize his best days are behind him and voluntarily walk off into the sunset on his own terms within a year or two.
