The longtime Kentucky lawmaker tripped at a dinner event and was admitted to a hospital, spokesman David Popp told USA TODAY on Thursday. They need to put the likes of him Biden, Feinstien & a few others out to pasture !! What is the normal retirement age they are all well past that you shouldn't be allowed to work when you need to where a diaper & can't walk up a flight of stairs with out falling . Which i feel for them because it won't be long before we are all right there & it's getting closer every day ... P.S. Schumer is another that needs to retire ... DrW
Instead of setting an age limit, why don't we make all political candidates take an IQ test or something like the Wonderlic at the NFL combine, and then publish the results. I’ve mentioned this before. I worked for decades in and around State government and I saw it so many times. In the case of the federal government most of these people simply don’t know anything else. They’ve been in Washington for so long that it’s become their home, their social circle, and essentially their entire life. They’re not there to use their experience and wisdom as public ‘servants’. They’re there because just like the classic Richard Gere line from Officer and a Gentleman they’ve “got nowhere else to go”! It’s sad and pathetic and needs to stop. The voters in these districts are not doing anyone a favor.
B-Man
Is Mitch McConnell Retiring? By Katie Pavlich. Just weeks after a severe fall in Washington D.C. that sent him to the hospital for a number of days, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is reportedly preparing for retirement. "Multiple sources confirm that Senators John Barrasso of North Dakota, John Cornyn of Texas and John Thune of South Dakota are actively reaching out to fellow Republican senators in efforts to prepare for an anticipated leadership vote — a vote that would occur upon announcement that McConnell would be retiring from his duties as leader, and presumably the Senate itself," https://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2023/04/13/is-mitch-mcconnell-retiring-n2621926

Before he slipped into pure hack status, conservative commenter and radio guy Hugh Hewitt did this with Trump. If I remember correctly, he asked Trump, "What is the nuclear triad?" Trump obviously had no idea what he was talking about. (It is the Cold War strategy that our nukes are deployed on land, in air, and on submarines, making a Russian knock-out of all our nuclear defenses practically impossible.) Hewitt made a big deal about this, suggesting Trump wasn't qualified to be President given his shocking ignorance of a key U.S. defense doctrine. Until Trump was nominated and he conveniently forgot all about this. That's the kind of question debate moderators should ask. And they shouldn't let go until the candidate either fesses up that he simply doesn't know, or reveals his ignorance by trying to bluff his way through it (see Trump's recent Iowa comments on a carbon sequestration pipeline) 2

I could not disagree more that we need our Presidential candidates to take some administrative state sponsored multiple choice test in order to assume the office. Where is THAT written in the constitution? That sort of litmus test will only serve to double down on the Washington establishment class. Now…while I believe candidates would of course eventually study for and pass such an exam, criticizing a previous or current candidate for not clearing a hurdle that is definitely NOT part of the admissions criteria is beyond ridiculous! 2 minutes ago, SoCal Deek said: Edited July 27, 2023 by SoCal Deek

B-Man
BEN DOMENECH: McConnell can resign without leaving the Senate. Many Republicans point out that McConnell needs to stay in his seat to prevent Kentucky’s Democratic governor Andy Beshear, currently being challenged by McConnell ally Daniel Cameron, from naming a replacement. But that is a reason for McConnell to stay in the Senate, not one that requires him to stay on as its minority leader. The truth is that McConnell is not so dramatically reduced in his capacity that he needs to step down as a senator. He shows far greater capacity than current Senate Democrats Dianne Feinstein or John Fetterman, nor does he have the health struggles of the likes of Thad Cochran or Johnny Isakson in their final years. But continuing on as minority leader headed into a critical election year is a different question entirely. https://thespectator.com/topic/mitch-mcconnell-resign-without-leaving-senate/ Yes.
