There’s plenty of notifications when you’re getting low. I was with a colleague few years back in NOLA. He had been working for this customer for 3 days before I joined him for the next 2. Car ran out of gas on the highway. I asked him to put it in neutral as there was an exit close by. I kid you not, we got to the exit, rolled down the exit , made a right turn and into a gas station before it stopped. I asked him the same question - did you not see the warning light and alarm. His answer was "I did, thought I would take care of it later and forgot about it". I could easily have made the same error as Haskins and have had very similar close calls with regard to nearly running out of gas near an airport when trying to catch a flight. Add the hassle factor of making another stop especially if he was running a little late to catch the plane. I get it. I could see myself doing the same thing. The Bills were getting ready to come up as I was listening to the radio...I just continued. My car just wouldn't start in the parking lot lol after the draft was over. Not a single line more. You have to do this otherwise the rental car company will charge you 4.00 a gallon. Oh wait....
