But that versatility is the the reason why he hasn't gotten a shot in the lineup...which is frustrating because the OLine might have played their best game of the year against the Pats with him in there. So essentially, Bates could be a missing piece of the puzzle to the OLine issues but we will never find out because once Ford/Feliciano are back and ready to play, Bates goes to the bench because he is "too valuable to lose". Mailman Posted January 1, 2022 Share Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) Well, it may be nothing but I studied the line in a few of the team practice photos from the other day and saw Bates in at left guard, with the rest of the starters. Same lineup as last week. Could be nothing, but I am hopeful we keep the same line intact. Duh, but if he values Bates so much as a backup due to him being able to play every position that he won't let him start even if he proves he is more effective, that kind of defeats the purpose...
