It's Time to Mandate Vaccines

Anytime people have to resort to the Hitler/Nazi crap it is a clear sign of irrationality.  This is a public health crisis.  Public means just that, it involves all of us.  And it involves benefit vs. risk ratio; the benefits of vaccination both for the individual and the public far outweigh the risks.

Other than Vietnam, this is the only time in history our country has faced a national crisis and did not come together.  All because folks like you have twisted a health crisis into some bull crap political game.  So if you want to die, die.  Just don’t take anyone else out with you.

I disagree...clearly no one can compare the murder of millions to anything else...However, in this case, I’m referring to the psychology of what it takes to seduce a population by state run agencies and media censorship, like SCBills said...in that sense, I think it’s perfectly reasonable...

After all, it would be very wise for people to study and know about that aspect of coercion, to guard against it in the future...so it’s necessary to see the warning signs and point them out whenever possible imo...

And while yes, this is a public health crisis, the man pushing the solution is the very man who helped to creat this crisis in the first place...and the same man who also said, back in a 2012 paper of his, that even if his research caused a pandemic, it was worth it...

Let that sink in for a moment...

So there is no way I can ever trust these SOB’s...👍

Show me that paper.  And for people like you, you’ve been OK with smallpox vaccines, DPT, measles, mumps.  Flu vaccines.  But because the moron previously holding the office of president made this into a political instead of a health crisis, and because you can’t remove your lips from his backside, here we are with people including now ever more kids dying because of the games you want to play.

All of those vaccines have been around for a long time.

The flu vaccine isn’t mandatory to participate in society.

This has been going on for a year and a half now…. Remember 15 days to stop the spread?  The whole goal was to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed.   What are we doing now?  How long do we keep doing this?  Are you no longer “fully vaccinated” once you hit 8 months and your annual booster is due?

Vaccinated people can still get covid.  Vaccinated people can still transmit covid.

The border is wide open with unvaxxed pouring across, yet that doesn’t worry you as much a me, a random guy in my 30’s, not doing my part to capitulate with the state?

A YEAR AND A HALF…. What have these people done to continue warranting your trust?

Don’t give me the false equivalency crossing the border nonsense.  That’s just stupid deflection.  I have done research for over 40 years.  Worked as a clinical lab director for just as long.  You are either ignorant of how science works or, worse yet, choosing to be ignorant even knowing the facts.

Vaccinated people can still carry the virus because it populates the upper respiratory epithelium, and the vaccines don’t generate an IgA response that would get them there.  Even so vaccinated people still have much less chance of transferring virus.  And while vaccinated people can get clinical Covid, the incidence of breakthrough infections are much lower than unvaccinated, and most importantly vaccinated people account for at most 1% of hospitalizations or deaths.

Will we eradicate it?  Hopefully but probably not.  Can we keep it from becoming the 2nd or 3rd leading cause of death in our country?  Yes.  How?  Vaccines.  Will we need boosters to do that?  Probably, because the virus mutates and the vaccines will be altered to hit those.

People get flu every year and die, because they don’t get the flu vaccine, and because the vaccine is more or less effective each year based on the strain.  And in the worst flu year in the last decade the death rate was 10 fold less than Covid.

I could go on but people like you don’t give a rat’s ass.  You’d rather die apparently.  Good luck.

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/fauci-argued-benefits-of-gain-of-function-research-outweighed-pandemic-risk-in-2012-paper/

“In an unlikely but conceivable turn of events, what if that scientist becomes infected with the virus, which leads to an outbreak and ultimately triggers a pandemic? Many ask reasonable questions: given the possibility of such a scenario – however remote – should the initial experiments have been performed and/or published in the first place, and what were the processes involved in this decision?

Scientists working in this field might say – as indeed I have said – that the benefits of such experiments and the resulting knowledge outweigh the risks. It is more likely that a pandemic would occur in nature, and the need to stay ahead of such a threat is a primary reason for performing an experiment that might appear to be risky.

Within the research community, many have expressed concern that important research progress could come to a halt just because of the fear that someone, somewhere, might attempt to replicate these experiments sloppily. This is a valid concern.”

Next, I agree with you, that Trump may have politicized the virus when he said it would be gone sooner than it would be...he said it was to keep panic down, but it also may have been to mitigate damage to his re-election chances...

But, to be fair, it was also Biden and Kamala who were the original vaccine hesitant people when they voiced skepticism about taking the “Trump vaccine” when it was the pharmaceutical companies making it, not Trump...so there was politicization on both sides...

Israel is your proof the vaccine is waning after 6 months (9 million people live in Israel - 22 million live in Florida - also proof masks are a joke - and I'm beginning to believe these hospitalizations are almost all unvaccinated is a lie - why can't they give an actual number here instead it's out of 100K??):

Israel records over 8,500 daily COVID infections as serious cases climb to 559

Monday's tally is highest in current wave; 13 deaths recorded overnight; Labor MK Gilad Kariv hospitalized and getting oxygen at Sheba Medical

Israel recorded 8,646 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, a new record in the current outbreak of the Delta variant, as an infected Knesset member was hospitalized and getting oxygen therapy.

Updated Health Ministry figures Tuesday morning showed there had also been 1,691 additional cases diagnosed since midnight, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 951,226.

The number of serious patients grew by 28 since midnight and reached 559, including 89 on ventilators. The ministry said serious cases were much more common among the unvaccinated: Among unvaccinated patients aged 60 and up, there were 154.7 serious cases per 100,000 people compared with 19.8 for their vaccinated counterparts.

There were 13 fatalities recorded overnight, bringing the death toll to 6,694.

The ministry said 5,855,387 of Israel’s population of 9.3 million had received at least one vaccine dose, 5,421,544 had received at least two, and 1,052,615 had received booster shots, which are only available for those aged 50 and up, healthcare workers and those with immune problems.

Wait so you're saying that when almost everyone is vaccinated, almost all the breakthrough cases are among the vaccinated? Go figure.

What we are seeing is that older and at risk people (those vaxxed first) have the most likelihood of breakthrough infection. Meanwhile the data everywhere is that vaccines prevent death and hospitalizations at an extremely high rate compared to unvaccinated. There's not a single data point that says otherwise. None, zero, nada.

The VA data shows this in the extreme. I have posted it many times but unlike you, I don't regurgitate it every day.

Article just hit The Athletic regarding Dion Dawkins and COVID battle. Hospitalized for 4 days and “could barely move”.

He was TWO WEEKS removed from his second vaccine jab when he got sick.

Line up Beasley and GET YOURS!!!

(I’m going to take a guess and say that this article will be pulled or amended to show that he didn’t have the vax yet or only the first shot. Does not follow the media narrative.)

WTF is wrong with people? Why keep quoting that "15 days to stop the spread?" It was an idea, kind of a bad compromise idea (if New Zealand is 10 out of 10 on the intensity of anti-COVID measures, we were about a 2 or 3), and IT DIDN'T WORK. We weren't in a position to let hospitals get overwhelmed and watch people die at home or in overflow tent units. And guess what? In certain regions of the country we're now in that position ALL OVER AGAIN because a large chunk of people stubbornly refuse to take the common-sense measure of getting a vaccine.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/08/17/us/covid-delta-hospitalizations.html

It is beyond frustrating that we - in the USA, where we had the foresight, wealth, and good luck to be ready to emerge to a more normal way of life this summer - have to deal with an emerging crisis all over again based on the quasi-scientific (or ridiculously "you can't make me") rantings of the recalcitrant.

Interesting that you don't feel the need to back your thoughts up with even one source but I need specific information to back mine up. If your entire argument is that death is the only standard then the vaccines still work but if having Covid is the standard then the vaccines do little after 6 months.

Words have meaning. Especially in science. You said that vaccines don't work for most people after 6 months.

What that study shows is that vaccine effectiveness for older and compromised people (the initial Israel segment in that study) against disease contraction lessens after 6 months.

One is chicken little overreaction (you). One is accurate.

Look, I'm not saying that here to be critical of the Trump White House in general. I'm saying it because somehow mocking "15 days to slow the spread" has become a favorite meme of the "let it rip like wildfire" crowd. Which strikes me as just plain weird since a lot of those people are Trump supporters, and they are mocking a Trump initiative.

But I guess logic is a thing of the past in political argument.

I don't blame anyone for measures that didn't work in March 2020. NYC couldn't even deal with the bodies piling up by April. No one had any idea where this was headed. It would have been nice if Trump had been level about that but instead he overpromised every week and refused to say, "Our smartest people are on it and we're figuring it out."

Oh, I agree with that. And let's not forget that we avoided probably hundreds of thousands of deaths through our COVID mitigation measures. 15 days was, in retrospect, not gonna do it. But as I said: it was a compromise. And it did do a lot of good. Behind the mocking of it is some weird conspiratorial theory whereby Dr Evil thought he could sell Americans on 15 days and then extend that indefinitely, all in service of his goal to eject Trump from office and begin his period of world domination with George Soros or something like that. Really, that's what these people think.

The media has successfully freaked enough people out with this Delta variant so I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this.  Having kids wear masks beats hybrid learning but there's no real science that supports masks in the classroom.

I would agree if it were not the delta variant, but it is much more infectious and more kids thus are being infected.  If the data in Missouri hold up, it would appear that the infection rate from delta starts to wane after a month or so.  Kids can wear masks for a bit longer until the delta starts to wane, and as more and more people get vaccinated.

There's little evidence that anything other than N95/KN95 masks help at all at stopping the spread of the Delta variant.  Even those advanced masks are subject to debate.  Kids are still extremely unlikely to die from this virus.  By hiding teacher's and other student's lips it negatively impacts the development of their social and linguistic skills.  This is really problematic for students who have hearing impairments or are on the autism spectrum.  The negative benefits of masks for children in schools far outweigh the positive benefits imo.

Let's start with the hard question for you: How many states are there?

When you get that answer, you will start to answer your question if you look really closely at the first two letters of my post that you questioned.

Oh and since you're once again chicken little over-reacting with your link to OH MY GAWSH 125,000 CASES SINCE JULY, precisely what percentage breakthrough is 125,000 cases for 168,000,000 vaccinated people? 20% 10% 2%? 1% 0.5% Can't be lower than that can it?

You make this too easy, again helping me show how dumb your statement that "in most cases the vaccine doesn't work after 6 months" is perhaps the dumbest thing said in this thread, with a lot of dumb things. But at this point you've sextupled down on stupidity and keep linking stories that undermine your statement. Keep it up: Post another link.
